  1. well I wasnt methodical in steps so I can't say exactly what fixed it. ie did too many things at once but it seems better now. what I did was turn off all windows notifications completely uninstalled mixed reality portal, steam vr and steam for windows mixed reality reinstalled everything new cable from hp arrived in the mail with the new upgraded cable and power button on the wall plug. thanks for the tips on the bios and chipset driver Buzzer. I'll add that to the list of things to do just to keep it all up to date.
  2. found a temp solution that involves putting my g2 on the shelf and using my oculus quest 2 with link as that doesnt seem to have any problems at all.
  3. yeah this morning I did a full dcs reinstall. I did a steam vr repair. I ordered the reverb g2 new cable today as well in the small hopes its that, but il2 runs fine. ive run error checks on my ssd's. I have a huge order from virpil showing up and am just about crushed to be honest. I've been working 80 hours weeks the past month so this is just not hitting at a good time. theres not much on my machine, but enough of it is work software so doing a clean windows install isnt really an easy options. I'm about to try uninstalling mixed reality portal and anything related to vr then try and reinstall. im about to unplug all usb devices including joysticks as well and see if that has any bearing.
  4. not sure where to start diagnosing this one. Just getting my pit all set back up to get back into dcs. this morning was fine for 1 flight. Now every time I launch, every 5-10 seconds visuals flash and stutter, game pauses for 5-10 seconds then comes back alive. during this time I've noticed in my task manager gpu drops from 59% to 0% and the steam "DCS waiting" icon appears. then it ramps back up to 59% the game unfreezes and I'm good for another 15 seconds. I've done run rammap, ive run windows memory diagnostic and comes back no errors. all other games play great. no crashes otherwise or issues in other games I built a beast of a system for this x570 board 128gb ram nvidia 3090 ryzen 9 5950x all games and system on ssd drives. ive forced my pcie back to 3 cause that fixed some other issues with my reverb g2 vr is on reverb g2 game launched non vr, all is fine. other games launched in steam vr is fine (I'm mostly in il-2 for wwii flying. no issues there) im just downloading a huge update to msfs to see if that one runs fine, but havent had any problems with previous versions of that. my dcs play has been very sporadic last few months but usually flights went fine. Now I cant load the game with out freezes every 5-15 seconds. I dont understand why my gpu keeps dropping to 0. no amount of restarts have helped not sure what to attempt to uninstall or reinstall first. such a pain as I just bought a bunch of virpil gear excited to get back into dcs and im completely stuck. if anyones gone through anything similar I'd love to hear what helped/fixed it cheers
  5. I recognize it may not be a common problem. I've been loving virtual desktop on quest 2 for streaming vr titles. Half life alyx no wires is awesome. But ever since my reverb g2 showed up (for sim titles, still the best clarity for me) when I try to run virtual desktop through quest 2 the games dont launch in vr. Almost like it's trying to put them to the reverb. Does anyone use a combo of virtual desktop to stream to quest 2 and still have a wired vr headset? Looking for any tips to get them to both work . Planning to use the g2 for all my seated sim games and stream to quest 2 for any move around the room type vr titles.
  6. I've found a few topics on how to mirror audio between rift and speakers, but I'm wondering if dcs has anything for the splitting of jet noise vs radio traffic? What I'd like is for my 5.1 surround to be booming away but have headphones on that only hear radio traffic. I'm mainly playing through the rift so I usually just pipe audio through the rift or the 5.1 , but I've just installed a jetseat and some butt kickers , and in vr I'd love to replace my oculus headset with an over ear setup. That way I could use the 5.1 to get the benefits of deep rumble bass and increase immersion to hear the radio calls clear but the jet muffled a bit through my headset Any ideas of if this is possible and where to go to read up on how to do it?
  7. looks really promising. I guess I found this late so im pretty far down, but please add me to the list.
  8. thanks guys. this was exactly it. the artifact might be fine for some games, but needing to look at huds and cockpit detials this was driving me crazy. cheers
  9. I'm coming across some wierd artifacting and I wanted to check if its a known thing or if theres something to fix it. I've got a gtx980 and updated nvidia drivers and fps wise is fine in the rift, but when I have a hud element behind a prop, or even some cockpit bits that look like they fall in a rotor shadow it causes this wierd double artifacting squiggle. most noticable is on the spitfire. When the sight is on I can see it fine, but theres a second duplicate sight that does this crazy squiggle effect. Its most noticable on hud elements, but after trying out the black shark this morning I can find bits of the cockpit that have this same duplicate squiggle thing going on. any ideas?
  10. Anyone know if there are any high end twist grips (rudder on twist)? I have a Warhog with nice pedals for Dcs, but I find on some of the space sims I fly I've actually preferred twist grip for fighting fast precision stuff. I'm trying to train my brain to use pedals instead but am having troubles switching over. I'm wondering if there any higher end twist grips? I've got an x-55 but there's enough stick on it that it annoys me. I bought the slaw viper pedals and I love them for Dcs flying. Wondering if there's some boutique sticks that might have twist? Most I've found take twist off a good grip cause it's not realistic, so the higher end I go the less likely they are to have twist.
  11. for what its worth I havent been able to get the seat movement to work in 1.5something. it works fine in the 2 alpha though
  12. finally got my new cv1 this week and got a quick play though on it last night. One issue I came across was seat height. If I load the a10c and reset view, it was a little close to the hud, but a pretty good starting point, where as when I jumped in the huey, reset view put me at a height of a 5 year old kid, haha I couldnt even see over the dash. I've seen mention of right ctrl and right shift + num pad for moving seat, but it doesnt seem to work in vr. in the past I've done the trick where if you want to be further back, lean forward, reset, then lean back to sitting position, but that doesnt work well for height as I need to take the headset off and place it in my lap and reset view, then put it back on to gain the height. is this a per cockpit tunable thing? I was surprised the huey was so low when the a-10 looked about right. currently searching through the forums looking for previous posts on this issue
  13. It's kind of like a digital version of what you perceive when you focus on something. Stare at a mountain and you take in the whole thing. Spot a bear on the hillside and you can razor focus on a really small spot. You haven't zoomed anything but that spot in the distance seems to have more "resolution" when you put your attention there. Digitally we are capped by the monitor rez so the zoom in feature helps in spotting targets and feels natural enough, like putting your focus on a small detail. Hope that all makes sense.
  14. I had lent my dk2 to a friend for quite awhile (before I got into dcs) and just recently got it back. I've got a really nice display setup and was really enjoying it, tooling around with learning my new purchase (huey) well my long lent dk2 found its way back home this weekend and I was able to try it with all the new vr bits I've been reading about. So I loaded up the stray eagle and rebel base missions. dont know why I didnt immediately request it (dk2) back when I got this game but kind of glad it got delayed. the look and click is super intuitive, and as much as I love my displays, sitting in the right seat and moving left to get a pillar out of the way and keep an eye on the lead in a formation flight just isnt the same with track ir. dont even get me started on low level flight through the city to dodge incoming and looking over through passing buildings to see the enemy evaporated as I watched a cobra overfly its position. (i may have audibly cheered) but this is the vr forum, I'm preaching to the crowd. Mainly came here to ask a question on the vr zoom. the speed at which it zooms in and out is too slow for me. I just want a snap picture of something that I'm suspecting is already there. In the huey I find my self in a low bank dodging fire and am doing a quick scan for troops. and the slow in and out can mess with you. I'd love the ability to just have it toggle the tighter camera and back, rather than slow zoom to it and back. with all the crazy cool stuff people do in lua on these forums does anyone know if something like this is tweakable? or is there maybe a setting where I can tweak that speed? now I just gotta figure out how to pull together funds for the cv1. ;)
