  1. There's a good few of us out there that run long-running persistent missions as multiplayer servers, but there's no way to have randomized weather and time at mission load. Functionality that would be good: Set Time / Weather option that randomizes time, so missions might load at day or night. Perhaps an option to set the range of hours in which randomization occurs. Weather randomization. Dynamic weather, as it is now, but with a range of values that the mission load can pick between. Allow configuration so ranges can be limited, so we're not randomly spawning into Hurricane Katrina, but maybe sometimes it's sunny and sometimes it's raining, etc. OR - static weather as it is now, just randomly pick if it's going to be overcast and rainy or sunny. At the moment, we're forced to create multiple .miz files with differing weather, then have a master loader .miz that randomly selects one of those. This gives a limited amount of variation, depending on how many different weather based .miz files you create, but then if you need to add an airframe you're adding it to n number of mission files. This doesn't need to be anything special or complex, just an option to give us a little variation between server mission reloads.
  2. Every time we restart the standalone dedicated server (latest version Open Beta) the pilot shows as PILOT-xxxxxxx and every time we change it back to what we usually call it, it just adds a new nickname to the list. Next time we restart the server, the observer slot that lives there is back to being a new PILOT-xxxxxxx name I've tried deleting the nicknames.lua file and having it recreate, just doesn't seem to care that the file exists when starting the server and ignores previously saved name change. There doesn't appear to be anything relating to this in logs\dcs.log either :(
  3. Writing results to the HDD could be interesting if looking to do an online leaderboard style thing for squadrons - write out results, have something dump them to a database, do data magic stuff and present on a website. Would you be ok with me having a poke about in the mission file and seeing if I could get something like that going for my group?
  4. CVW-69 Honeybadgers https://vfw-69.com/ https://discord.gg/yqEvbd We're an internet airplane guild, also known as a virtual squadron. We fly in DCS World, and generally fly anything we feel like flying at that particular time. We're usually found in the Hoggit supported Georgia At War server, where we'll be in anything from F/A-18's to Ka-50's depending on what needs doing. Primarily, we're laid back. We play other games together, we chat about anything and everything, and we try to help eachother out, ranging from learning DCS modules to career advice. We're a wide range of folk - active military, students, sales, technology. Mostly, we're all just the bestest friends <3 All of our pilots are held to the same exacting standards, though they're not neccessarily high standards. To join, first and foremost we have to like you. That's going to simply involve hanging around in Discord, voice chat, and flying some time in DCS with us. From a technical perspective, if you can shoot a missile and bomb a thing and land on the carrier in the F/A-18C Hornet then you're probably good.
  5. Subject says it all - option in the dropdown under Misc. settings to have DCS load a random theme from modules you own at startup. Not an important feature, just would be neat to have a random option instead of setting manually.
  6. Can also confirm that our group members who use Steam are now able to log in. Nice one, c0ff
  7. Confirming this is an issue - we have tested against both Steam and non-Steam users and those using Steam can't connect to the server - if there's a password, they get an error stating invalid password - if there's no password, then simply nothing happens Relevant section of client log file... 2018-11-27 21:45:56.490 ERROR NET: Login failed becase server returned invalid reply. Zip file of packet captures attached - 2 x Steam clients + 1 x standalone client Server is running Standalone All systems are running 2.5.3.24436 This doesn't seem to be affecting *all* Steam users though, as our group has a Steam user who is able to connect. [edit - removed attachment]
  8. Isn't nesting just the process of putting all the bits in an order which minimizes waste? Perhaps it requires a particular type of bed so that all the material can be accessed? I think Acrobat's banner print feature + 3M spray mount glue + some hours in my garage are probably the way forward like you suggest - plus that way you get to actually say you built the whole thing yourself, which will arguably be a big hit with the ladies when they see your DIY prowess...
  9. Yeah, I fired off an email to a local CNC place but they didn't respond - strange too, considering it's a small family run place and you'd think they would at least entertain paid work. I've a 24" WFP in the office that I could probably use too, but that's still going to need multiple sheets. The immediate issue is fitting 5x 4'x8' sheets of plywood in the back of a Mustang :(
  10. Oh, that's magical and you're a magical person for sharing that. Thanks!
  11. Any tips or tricks for translating the provided plans onto the actual wood for cutting? Largest printer I have access to is only 24" wide :( My gameplan is to hand-cut it all, likely a combination of some light powertools and hand saws, but accurately drawing it out on the wood is making me a little nervous as some measurements seem to be missing - for example, what's the placement details of these holes?
