  1. hi all, you know there is one thing that can't be simulated. Motion sensation. When in a real plane we can feel acceleration/deceleration , when the plane climbs or descends. These are very important sensory input to our brains which helps us pilot the air craft better. Unfortunately, we don't get that when flying DCS. We have to constantly rely on numbers on hud which are hard to read as we have zoom in. plus who wants to constantly look at numbers. not ideal. My recommendation is to have a vertical bar on the right that turns red and grows towards the bottom to indicate descends or turns green and grows upwards to indicate the ascend. The length of the bar would be relative to the rate of ascend or descend. Similarly we can have a horizontal bar on the bottom of the screen that indicates speed acceleration/deceleration. These two cues would be very valuable given we don't get those when in a simulator and can only get it in real life. These will serve as cues our sub-consequence will learn to procees as we pilot the aircraft looking ahead. Hence i would recommend all you intelligent modders to see if you can develop such a mod. thanks in advance
  2. I hope what ever they do to fix it, should be standard (not some thing that is based on users preference). Because some multiplayer servers will always turn it off and i am pointing to 104th. just to provide some reference every one can see narrow bodied commercial jets (not 747s) flying at ~35000 feet (6 miles) and that is just when they are exactly over head. However, one can see them approaching miles away so one should be able to see those around 10 miles out easily. So i figure for a figure for a fighter jet one should be able to see those atleast at 7 miles out.
  3. I haven't received any further reply form ED since the last message from BigNewy asking about my screen resolution. I am not sure what is on their minds. I would really appreciate if they can share their thoughts, opinions on this matter. I really hope they acknowledge the problem as that is the first step to solving any problem :)
  4. here is another reason why visibility is broken (can't see objects at visible range). here is the reason why imposter system is broken and multiplayer servers don't use them. I can see F15 at 20 nm out (attached screen shot taken at 15 nm out)
  5. Dear Bignewy, thank you very much for taking a notice to my issue. I appreciate it very much. My resolution in 1080p. I agree with the comments of 56RAF_Talisman. in a dog fight in a clear day one ought to able to visually detect a target at up to 7nm and be able to detect it's general direction of flight at about 5 nm and about 2nm one ought to be able to guage it's relative speed compare to ones own.
  6. hello visibility of aircraft aside from when imposters are set to large are flawed. one can't see the aircrafts in visible range. and given the fact the multiplayer server are disabling imposters because they call it buggy handicaps the game. the game as it stands as a bvr sim only (can't do dog fighting). heads down all the time into radar and rwr (sucks), might as well fly at night all the time. please make this top of your priority as this is one of the most critical issues in my opinion.
  7. hello ED, please respond. Visibility is broken. Multiplayer server are disabling imposters because they say that the functionality is broken.
  8. quick question, does the visibility mod works in mulitplayer too. i play in 104th and they have imposters off. will it work in multiplayer based on imposter setting?
  9. Thanks guys, this is greatly appreciated. For what it's worth i totally agree with the universal model visibility mod guy in that visibility in DCS is completely broken. As is it is really a flight sim (practice your landings and takeoffs) and BVR sim (if you enjoy being heads down looking at radar and RWR all the time), not a Dog Fighting sim (the fun kind) I truly hope DCS pays the modder and incorporates his visibility work.
  10. hi, no response to my thread? Can some one confirm my findings?. Also a followup, are models (enemy plane) more visible when in a 4:3 aspect ratio versus the widescreen 16:9 or 16:10 (1080p) resolutions? I run in 1080P resolution and unless i do model enlargement to large i cann't see an F16 2 miles out.
  11. Hey all, I am using DCS World 1.5 (release). inside of f15 in the default zoom when I look left and right using track ir the image gets a bit distorted (skewed). That is obvious in the canopy bar (where the mirrors are). Is there are an aspect ratio that I need to mess with. I fly in 1920*1080 and in the setting I have the aspect ratio set to 16:9 (1.777...78). Also would that affect the visibility of other aircrafts that are in visible range. I have set the model enlargement to max and that seems to help with that. Thanks
  12. Good feedback Thanks Dr. Goose, i think we both agree that flight model is behaving as it should. I think the reason mine is skidding more then yours was probably because i was landing at higher speeds because of a fully loaded (3 fuel thanks + all those missiles) f15. I am sure i will get the similar results as yours if I go with an empty F15. I think i have the crabing technique mastered. It's the slipping technique at the very end that is trickly. slipping technique of using the rudder to alight the nose to the runway and using stick to keep the plane level. seems like a split second thing one has to do near the about a feet or two off the ground. am i right? what is the best approach? Thanks
  13. Well, so after some practice I am able to land fully loaded f15 in 5m/s cross winds in a consistent manner. it's challenging, require focus but it's fun. see the attached track. it gets easier as plane gets lighter. So with that said, I think the flight model seems fine. I do have a question. so when I land i disengage the nose wheel steering and can keep the plane in control for the most part. The challenging part is below 80 knots. after that point the rudders became ineffective at controlling where as nose wheel become the better choice from this point onwards for keeping the plane aligned to the runway. however re-engaging the nose wheel steering is very challenging. That is because say my rudder is control via 50% pedal press. but if i am to engage the nosewheel it needs more like 10%. And suddenlty when i engage the nose wheel steering it swings because the rudder pedal press was at 50%. That is the challenge 1. Second challenge is since the nose wheel is disengage the nose wheel is spinning out of control. So there is luck factor involve when re-engaging the nose wheel steering because the nose wheel may be at 45 degrees which may result in plane going out of control. Therefore, my usual practice is to let the plane slow down below 40 knots before reengaging the nosewheelsteering becase at the point it is more manageable. Helps me keep the plane aligned. I wonder if my approach is what real pilots take as well. how do they control the plane on runway as it lands in crosswinds? TakeoffsAndLandings.trk
  14. hi, As the title says I am questioning either the f15 FM in cross winds or my technique. I doubt it's my technique (I have practiced extensively, probably more then a real pilot :) ). Cross winds: 5 m/s @ 227 degrees (landing at tablisi luchine using summer clouds and wind weather template) If I try to land a fully loaded f15 in cross winds if am able to successfully land 1 out 3 times (I crash or break the landing gear the other 2 times :) ). I have better luck by jettisioning the fuel tanks (no crashes or breaking of landing gear (5 out 5), but the skidding on the runway seems very dangerous and probably not something we would see in real life) - watch the track in F2 (outside mode) facing the front of the plane (looking at the nose and the cockpit). Cross winds of 5 m/s (11 knots) shouldn't be that bad given 30 knots cross winds should be possible. Any thoughts about the flight model or advise to improve my landings in cross winds? in know the technique (crabbing and the sliping (rudder to align the nose to the runway + bank in the wind to level the plane) Thanks SummerCloudsAndWindTakeoffsAndLandings.trk
