  1. What if we got the MiG-19SF? How feasible is it? It's just a MiG-19S with slightly improved engines.
  2. If we get another variant in addition to the MiG-19P, it should be the MiG-19SF since it is the same plane as the MiG-19S but with a better engine. According to this article (http://www.airvectors.net/avmig15_3.html) the MiG-19SF had 10% more dry thrust than the S version and a better afterburner system. Also the MiG-19PM is more of a gimmick plane than anything else.
  3. So glad this forgotten jet is being made. No one ever really talks about it since it's the transition between two iconic soviet fighters: the MiG-15 and 21. F-5s will have a tough time turnfighting this thing once it gets released. Definitely would like to have more variants if it isn't too much to ask. You know what they say, the more the merrier! Found some cool photos and thought I'd share them here :
  4. I have a good one. What are the gun sights on the MiG-19 like? Simple? Advanced?
  5. True. Now that I think about it, the F-8 Crusader would probably be the best opponent for the MiG-19 out of the three I mentioned. MiG has better T/W ratio and lower wing loading but the F-8 has top speed and dive. Service ceilings are about the same so no issue there. Clear cut advantages. Yep, they are perfect for each other.
  6. Is the F-100's performance really good enough to face off against MiG-19 though? I remember reading somewhere that although they were introduced around the same time the MiG had way better performance.
  7. Looks great guys! I just wonder how the MiG-19 stacks up against the Mirage 3 and what else would be a good opponent for it. I'd say the English Electric Lightning, F-8 Crusader, or the F4D Skyray are good contenders.
  8. That doesn't sound too bad. I'm a sucker for 2nd gen jets (we really need more of them) because you get archaic technology and missiles but gunfights aren't completely out of the question. Plus I just love the MiG-19. This will be a long wait for me :(.
  9. Is there any ETA for the MiG-19 module? I was unable to find anything regarding this.
  10. I wouldn't mind a Su-15. It looks pretty sick!
  11. I recently got the MiG-15 module for DCS a few months back and I'm loving it but one of my main problems is that there aren't many Korean War servers to play on and if I happen to find one it usually is sparsely populated. This is one of the reasons why we should get more 1st or 2nd gen aircraft into the game as it would mean more people would play on those servers. Furthermore, I believe the amount of dogfights that happen in game is severely lacking. As it stands, a lot of the aircraft we currently have are more oriented around BVR combat and missiles which can lead to fights ending in seconds and isn't always fun in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, missiles are cool but so are gunfights. If more of the older generation jets were added then more emphasis would be put on guns rather than missiles as they were still in their early stages. However, this doesn't mean they would be out of the question as planes like the MiG-19 and F-100 were capable of using them though they tended to be ineffective in combat. In addition, there aren't many games that I see do 1st and 2nd gen aircraft any justice. Incorporating more of these aircraft into DCS would make for an awesome experience in my opinion and they would get the best of both worlds, dogfighting and missile combat. Plus who wouldn't want to mess around with some of that old Cold War tech? For starters, here are two planes from the second gen that I think would make great additions: English Electric Lightning MiG-19
