Have you tried to train the MS Speech Recognition some more, as neither VA nor VAICOM does any recognition?AIRIO ack's all spoken commands but I just cannot use him to change freq on the 182, for some strange reason VA / Viacom does not recognize any numbers, infuriating as I then have to use options to change freq, as far as I can tell you can't ask the Rio to change the preset either but you can by using options, which again spoils it for me, I want to get away from the wheel / options

If this was an answer to me, I did already read it, but I guess I didn't pay enough attention. Might be because I don't think what you're suggesting could possible be done in two years. Not sure if it could be done at all without starting completely from scratch. Alas, that would come at a hefty cost as we've heard in interviews.
Even so, thank you. I will cross my fingers.

Can somebody explain why you're all so enthusiastic in your anticipation of Vulkan?
Why do you all expect this to be done sort of Holly grail?
I might be totally out of the ball park here, but from what I've read, the leap from OpenGL in that civ sim will be very different compared to DX11. IIRC, even one of the mods here has stated "it might not be the silver bullet you all are expecting" or something like that.
Multithreading on the other hand, that I expect benefits from. I wonder if we even get better benefits from running SP missions on dedicated servers.
So, will Vulkan benefit from multithreading? Even only going from DX11?

Might be I have some slower load times, but I haven't really noticed.
One thing I do though. I use a realtime log viewer for monitoring the DCS.log. I currently use Baretail free (the MS one from MS SCCM is decent as well), and I can see that the sounds for the Tomcat takes 2 minutes to load on my system, while any other module takes less than a second.
Have a look in the log file, and maybe you can pinpoint what's taking long times or where it hangs.
Cheers!

No, I don't. Might be I have some slower load times, but I haven't really noticed. Is anyone else having this issue?
After the last update, I have had issues getting into servers. Since the 30 Sep update, my load times have significantly increased. Also, the game stops responding(I have to close with task manager) when it gets to the Net Sim Post Start part of loading. Also, now RAM nearly maxes out, which never happened before.
Specs:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
1TB HDD
512Gb SSD
8 Gb Memory
Intel CORE i5
I know the specs are trash, but like I said this was not happening before.

Both rudders?Found weirdness. Didn't want to clutter the "Bugs and problems" forum.
A sticky to collect all DCS manual "problems"?
Page 24.
The elevators, like the rudder, are made of Alclad, the elevator is covered with metal and equipped
with a balance horn. The left and right rudders are rigidly connected. Maximum deflection down is 12
½°, up 21½ +2-1°. Elevator trim range is 7½ ±¼° down, 7½ ±¼° up.
...
...
The control stick moves forward and backward for normal elevator control. Handle travel limits are
20.5° forward and 21.5° back. The stick also moves laterally to control the ailerons. Lateral handle
travel limits are 20.5° forward and 21.5° back.
Aileron stick travel is asymmetrical and identical with elevator stick travel?
Good catch. Should probably be elevators, as I can't imagine rudders being doubled up and moving down.

Pretty sure that's one is reported.
You might want to post in the correct forums as it's Ugrs Media and not ED that developes the Syria map.

I disagree.Lets put it this way you have to Purchase one of these which is VOICE ATTACK!
All you need is Voice Attack, after getting Voice attack you need to make a commands and set Key words for each Function you want for example:
Need to Eject, So the command would look like this: When I say Ditch, Eject, O FK the app will automatically push LCtrl+E An out of the Air Craft you go!
In the end its up to you and what your wanting to do, but you will have to purchase Voice Attack either way which isn't a bad app to have I was lucky and bought it when it first come out and it was only like $5 today not sure what the $ but sure its not over say $20-25 an depending on what games you play it can be useful and its not the End of the World or a LOSS if you don't use either.
So good luck either way bud with your choice again its not your Loss if you don't, here's a Fact for you 90 % of Dcs Players do not use ViaCom so you won't be the only one if you don't!
VAICOM (Not Viacom) is an addon/plugin (cheap by my standards, and it will save you lots of time) for VoiceAttack (also very cheap) primarily as a more natural substitute for the comms menu, and tuning radios. NOT for "gear up" "eject" etc. And it achives this in a better way than what you can out of the box with VoiceAttack. How can you easily have VoiceAttack do "Two, attack tripple A with rockets from the south-east" in an easy way in plain VoiceAttack?
OP seems concerned that VA and VAICOM comes with a cost, and that is his loss. Most VA profiles are free anyway. VAICOM is an addon not a profile. TacView is not free either.
With a little effort you can have one DCS profile with VAICOM, which let's say "gear up" and the correct keybinds will trigger depending on the module you're in. VoiceAttack cannot do this out of the box.
This is of course my not so humble opinion, you are of course entitled to your own.
Cheers, enjoy your weekend!

Not quite true.No and Yes!
You can but you have to have to buy Voice Attack you don't have to buy VIACOM I can tell you right now you can do VIACOM setup with Voice attack all on your own, Viacom is a bunch of extra stuff besides the control of jester, it has the chatter app, knee board and such which is what your really paying for the Program that Runs Jester is Voice attack alone all they did was make commands so you didn't have to.
So its all up to you and how much work you want to do with Voice attack, Viacom is a nice little program that adds some extra immersion with its chatter but in the end you don't need it you just need voice attack and set up the Key Words and Command Lines and your pretty much done besides testing them to make sure they work correctly.
Guess this the Long Answer!
VAICOM doesn't use the radio menu, it talks with DCS through the network by the export.lua
It only uses VA as a pass through to the MS Speech Recognition and it uses the comms way better than the radio menu does.
And as you wrote, there are some other rather nifty add ons.
BUT there is actually a free version so you can try it out.
VA also have a free version, but it is limited to 20 commands, so I don't think you can try both for free at the same time.
Cheers!

No, it has NOT existed in an usable form until recently, pretending otherwise is nonsense. You did not have passable resolutions, you did not have proper interaction, you did not have proper tracking, and you did not have acceptable form factor.
I strongly disagree. Have a look at my avatar. Don't remember the price, but it was like 500-600 USD IIRC in the mid 90s.
No inside/outside tracking. It used the Earth's magnetic field. Only 3DoF though.
The "puck" (mouse) that came with it used the same tracking and was awesome in FPSs. It was very comfortable to wear, with large audio drivers and you cool easily "lift" the display. It had native support in DID's EF2000, Under a Killing Moon and Duke Nukem 3D was very scary.
The "FOV" was natively 640x480 with absolutely no performance impact compared to non stereoscopic/flat screen.
The screen door effect was horrific though.
Too bad VR at the time dwindled and died. If it hadn't, we'd probably not having this discussion and everyone would have VR.
Cheers!
PS: I feel sorry for your phone bill. For me family Spotify, 365, cell (3GB free calls/SMS/MMS in the Nordics), Internet and Prime is less than USD 100 a month.

Is this a Steam game?
Cloudpunk wants to have ALL other controllers disconnected before I can use my Xbox one controller, but I can map other controllers and make other profiles to make "other virtual controllers". But it is a little tedious though.
One can also download Nirsoft'd USB something, and virtually disconnect hardware without actually unplugging anything.
Cheers!

In case you missed it. The Hind nor the Mossie is currently supported, and@Hollywood_315 has stated they will be supported in the next VAICOM update.I'm still getting this behaviour in the Mi-24.
I can issue a Vaicom radio message and immediately there is a beep to indicate a complete message was understood. However no radio transmission is sent in-game.
After a while if I trigger the Hind's in-game push-to-talk button (not my Vaicom tx# button) the original radio message is sent; ie, I hear my pilot's voice saying the radio message and then I get an immediate reply ... sometimes.
Other times the Vaicom radio message, while succesful in Vaicom/VA, seems completely lost to the ether in DCS; ie. my pilot never issues the message and no reply is heard.
I believe I'm using the latest version of all Vaicom files/plugins.
Cheers!

While I agree with your last sentence. FFB only supports the X/Y axis.I’m not asking for support for Brunner devices.
I’m asking to know if there is FFB on the rudder axis and, if not, for it to be implemented.
I would appreciate an answer to the question.
The momentum for proper FFB has to start somewhere…
I'm sure DCS will support FFBv2 when it's a standard.

Yeah, I totally agree. Went a little OT I guess!
Although I too use and love VAICOM, DCS really should invest a little bit in making the radio menu more user/HOTAS friendly. They pretty much already did it with Petrovich in the Hind. Now if they'd do the same for the radio menu I'm sure the many users that can't (or don't want to) use VAICOM would be very happy.
I support the "hat" solution, seems the best one!

No, absolutely not. That's the whole point of VAICOM. It's all included, and VAICOM doesn't use the radio menu at all, really. You can force it up if needed, for custom mission specific F10 menu commands by holding the PTT and say "options" and then say "Take one" for F1 etc. (one needs to do that for cargo sling loading for instance). When you do that does it involve custom mapping phrases to F keys ie saying “Flight”=F1?
It can also tune radios/presets in most modules too.
It has an add in for Jester which is really awesome. Totally hands free. I've never used the Jester wheel ever.
Add in for the new ATC in the super carrier, which let's you "manually" do all the Case I/III steps.
An add in for a special kneeboard that's very handy for JTAC etc. You can even voice record text-to-speech notes.
You can also have different PTTs hardware for different modules. Like I use my Warthog for most modules, but I use my Cougar for Viper and Jeff and my MS FFB2 for helis.
You can of course use other VA profiles together with VAICOM, with some cool tricks. Like I have one profile "that rules them all". Like I say "gear up", and depending on the module I'm in, it will trigger different keystrokes for let's say the Viper and the MiG-21.
If I was to guess, the only regret you will have is that you didn't get it before.
Heads up. Remember to do the MS Speech training a lot. (I did it 20 times). Add airfields etc. MS Speech doesn't understand to the dictionary, with a recording.
Make a different MS Speech profile with training for each microphone you use.
Close VA before each DCS update, and start VA before you start up DCS.
When validating the VAICOM keys, remember to clear ALL text in the key/email fields.
It doesn't support the Hind and Mossie yet. (Nor the A-4), and have some issues with WWII aircrafts in general. Update coming.
Hope this helps!
Cheers!

As others already have suggested, you can do that with VA/VAICOM.
Ok sure that would be awesome, to me that is something that would be incredibly resource intensive and take a long time, I think a lot of people would be happy with something simple/a few simple options that would be hopefully not too resource intensive to develop but a massive return for players benefit wise.
"Winger, attack AAA from the NE with Mavericks".

Which version are you using?

That should work on the ground (and only ground), try RAlt + \ instead.Used the Hind and Mosquito today but the communications (\) isn't working at all in either of the modules. I rebinded it to other buttons on the keyboard but no go. Mapped to hottas and still didn't work.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Please let me know what to do to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance

In the forum for that other WWII sim you can find rebuild FFB2s with timing belt solution, that supposedly greatly removes that deadzones. I assume you mean the tiny sloppiness in the middle.Been caught up with annoying real life stuff and finally coming back to this, though I just came across a MSFBB2 n.i.b. for a bargin.
I am wondering how putting the motors and circuitry of a MSFFB2 instead of hoverboards would hold up. The belt/gear ratio would help a lot but I am not sure even with the resistor mod if it wouldn't still be much too weak. The other concern is the mechanical deadzone MSFBB2's have, and if it can be overcome with this new gimbal

I tested on another computer. No issues.Did you fix this issue? I was using the version provided and it worked well! Now it just crashes every time I press the button I mapped
So I finally took the plunge and completely reinstalled my gaming rig, which had been so unfortunate to have been upgraded (which I normally don't do, but with this one I had been lazy), through 8 8.1 to the latest iteration of 10.
Problem gone.
Probably not what you wanted to hear. So, yes I solved it, but I don't really know what was wrong in the first place. Might have been some sort of conflict/driver as my stick showed as a "4 button", but now it's correctly discovered as an MS SW FFB2.

Ah, seems I misread. For know you'd want the fastest you can get. Don't think 2.4 will really cut it as of now. Haven't tested running DCS on any of my servers (all Xeons) yet, as they're all in storage. Now, this might change when multithreading is implemented. You'd also want more RAM than 16GB I suppose. Thanks for the reply, The gpu thing was part of the advertisement. I know I don't need a gpu other than the on board one. What I'm trying to figure out is if the 3.4 xeon cpu and mother board is worth the 400 bucks. Also found a Intel Xeon E3-1240 v2 @3.40 GHz, Quad Core with Hyperthreading for 200 bucks, 16 gigs of ram. But I don't know if its really better than what I already have. The one I have now is an amd athlon II X3 3.30 ghz 4 core.

I have the same issue.
I'm actually disappointed, because I thought it was an axis with a button press.
Everything else was good about it.
