  1. sorry mate, what do you mean?

the different problems I see is the shadows and and LOD issues in there, like the skins will disappear and reappear at different distances, the contrails will appear and disappear at different FOVs, the sun will shade the contrails to look like dark smoked clouds. those are examples that I see in his videos. also I see the P51's fuel wing tanks appear and disappear at different FOV zoom in and out. All so I see HDR issues or PBR, and some sort of effect they put in for making it look like the sun causing your eyes to dim? I think that's hurting the gamma or contrast issues too.

  2. Try turning your gamma slider up a few notches. Never flown in 2.1 at night so wouldn't know what it looks like. Is it the same in Normandy as NTTR, if you have it?

the problem is not gama, its the weird lighting and black tones effects, I'm seeing dark areas where there should be sunlight glinting off that area. so something is a bit off with the PBR and ED hasn't answered if they are aware of this?

normal sunlight or even artificial light reflection, isn't being effected correctly in the game?

it's like he stated "Low illuminance intensity of ground, objects, cockpit at night" it seems there is no reflection of the lighting effects.

in your examples this works ingame for night, but with those setting for day this isn't good.

  3. for the amount of monies it cost to buy a plane or module, you would think they would make patches as a nice incentive , something tangible to have i.e velcro backing you can wear or even a regular patch you can sew on, and show off as a memento of what you had purchased.

Remember back in the day the stuff these companies use to put in the box you bought.

Now the digital world there is nothing tangible..

    your thoughts..

ED you think we can make this happen and make retro purchases, of patches, there is a business out that can can offer this kind of business model.

  4. ok I tried the P51D in Normandy, Instant Mission dogfight P51s v BF109,

I would pull lead on the enemy target and get a massive screen freeze lasting anywhere from

10 seconds to 30 seconds before the game would come back to running.

setting are on high, visability is extreme and my system is

    gtx1080, i75930k, 16gb ddr4 ram.

  5. I'm running a 1070 so for sure not close to 1080Ti. After playing a lot with the settings in a recent version I can get a good performance for both NTTR and Normandy.

    1) Deferred shading - with PBR DCS looks just great, though it comes with a huge performance hit. Still it's manageable to run DCS with it

    2) Turn off the antialiasing in game - even 2x makes a substantial impact

    3) Anisotropic filtering - can be set to 16x. I didn't see much of a performance difference in last version

    4) Turn down the AI traffic, possibly to Low or Off

    5) Setting a Tree and grass Visibility makes a huge impact, especially on Normandy. I can run ok with it using (if I recall correctly) 8000 for trees and 800 for grass.

    6) Preload radius - actually can be increased on systems with high RAM. Helps to remove stutters.

    7) Turn off the depth of field settings

8 ) All other settings I generally run on "High" - as by loading "High" preset for all of the options.

    9) Settings in NVIDIA control panel - separate topic. All anti-aliasing settings set to be used as in-game.

With those settings in 3440x1440 I can get 40 FPS while in Spit on the ground and over 100 when in air. No stability or stuttering issues.

Where is this PBR you're talking about I can not find this setting in the GUI.

  6. Hey rapidfire!

In your options menu, set "Depth of Field" to "off" - this should correct the blurry terrain issue; looks great for screenshots and videos, not so much for seeing things! :)

Rctrl + Rshift + H will increase HUD brightness

Ralt + Rshift + H will decrease HUD brightness

Rctrl + H will change HUD color; I find amber or red to be easier to see sometimes

Experiment with the shadows option in your display settings; the cockpit shadows should depend on this option

Turn HDR off, and PBR on; HDR is a legacy option from the previous game engine.

The lighting system is currently in the process of being reworked, so the "shininess" may change.

I think that about covers it. Good luck! :)

There is no PBR in my HDR settings or whatever that is.

but HDR off and its not so blurry anylonger.

  7. SU25T on the normandy map instant missions, weapons practice.

Can not see the hud information very well its to light green.

Cockpit shadows are very poor, and pixelated.

    The HDR is very blurry.

the scenery seems very blurry also no sharpness.

some weapons shine like chrome metal.

  8. forgive me I meant this issue is in 2.1.1 not 1.5.7.

after today's update, I have no tracers again from the P51D 50.cals.

  9. Well I did a update

    my FPS was 21

So I did what was advised and turned off Deferred shadows and this is what I get.

never mind fixed with a couple of reboots of the game, seems to be some sort of shading caching error.

  10. Thanks for the logs, I just had a try myself and I am seeing tracer and hits on the FW190s

    are you using any modifications?

I would try a cleanup and repair just to be sure nothing strange is going on.

let me know how you get on

    no mods vanilla install fresh.

I did a cleanup and repair; still, I see the first initial tracers but no ball tracer after it comes out from the gun.

    no hit effects.

I still have squirrelly joystick issues, i.e I barely move the stick and the plane wobbles real bad.

    especially around the yaw axis.

    gladiator pro mk II

    saitek rudder pedals,

this is the only plane I have this issue with the P51 no wobbles in yaw axis.

    :joystick:

    thanks for trying.
