  1. Thank you for the explanation of the missions. That makes perfect sense. Regarding the snap views in VR and what you said below, pardon my not understanding this at all. CH? What is that? I did the num0 thing you mention but isn't it left windows button and num1 through 9? Your quote - "As for the snap views, I haven't tried setting them up in sim only. I have CH controls at the moment and I'm using the CH manager software to assign the hotas buttons to the throttle. Basically it just sends the keyboard commands to the game. HOLD down Num0 and press Num1 through 9. This seems to work this way, not sure about the all the modules? You could do the same with saitek controller software SST for only some buttons or T.A.R.G.E.T for thrustmaster I guess."
  2. Regarding VR Snap Views. In the guys video above (thanks again!) his snap views work in VR. That's awesome. I've learned how to make snap views in "Non vr" and they work perfectly. That whole left win key + numpad 1-9 and then right alt plus 0 to save. I do that, and they work great on my monitor. The second I go into VR they don't work at all. 1 - Could I kindly request someone to share what I'm missing here with the VR snap views? Secondly about snap views in VR, they should work in every cockpit of every plane for the most part I'd imagine? 2 - I now understand a lot more about my first mission in Charnwood due to the above post and a littl eF10 cheating just to see where I am. It helps. That being said, it's pretty vague about what I'm supposed to do? Do I personally need to bomb something? It says that's our goal but it completed the mission after I flew around (stupidly I might add but I at least took in the views and some flak :) and I'm like to be more involved.
  3. Thank you so much for this. Wow. This literally made me not lose patience with DCS. !
  4. Thanks for the great replies everyone. I'm definitely following a good amount of this advice. Since I already learned to some degree the p-51 with the free version, I bought the actual P-51 module, normandy, ww2 assets, and Charnwood campaign. This way I get to fully learn this aircraft since I already have some experience and will get another in the near future. With that in mind - 1 - Sounds funny but on Charnwood's first campaign mission, where do I go? I see a little runway, took off, and then.....no indicator of where to go or what to do? Can someone assist a bit? 2 - I know many of you don't VR but I love the immersion. It seems as if Normany is flickering a bunch and doesn't look as good as the "regular map." I'm surprised. It also is a bit juddery and I'm getting worse performance than just training in the p51 on the normal map etc. Is this due to the mission having many other aircraft and items on the field? Any thoughts on this? 3 - For any of you that DO use VR would it make sense for me to take the time to utilize the "quick look" panels or whatever they are called? As looking around in VR works well, but not for right to the left or right of my pilot on side panels etc. Those are tight. Any advice? I know this is a vr forum question but thought I'd slip just one in here to avoid a separate thread and I'm guessing one or 2 of you fellas would know. Truly appreciate these active forums and advice
  5. I'm relatively new. Finished learning the Free Su-25 and P-51 Mustang over the last couple months. I play in VR, 1080 ti, x52, and just have a few questions. Please bare with some of these being noob. 1 - What would be a good next jet to fly after the Su-25 and P-51? I'd like fully clickable. Please advise. 2 - My P-51 that came Free was "fully clickable" correct? How does that compare to some of the other clickable cockpits such as Mirage or Harrier? Does the p-51 have much less to click? 3 - My 1080ti and modern comp pack a good punch but, still, what would be best to help me see my buttons/knobs in more clarity? IS there an option to increase text size ? I super sample some to 1.5x but would LOVE any recommendation to increase text or see just a bit clearer in VR. 4 - Occasionally when using my hotas and mouse in game my mouse will sometimes just start to "drift" across the screen in game. If I alt tab my mouse will continue to drift outside of the gaming window. It's annoying and makes it hard to click anything. The solution I found that half works is I unplug the USB of my x52 and then stick it right back in. The mouse drifting stops. Any idea WHY this happens? 5 - If I wanted a campaign for my P-51 (hope I'm saying the name of the free plane that came w the game correct) any recommendations? Do people ever run coop campaigns in multi player? 6 - I want updated graphics and am thinking of buying Nevada test range etc. Money isn't really an object, I'm old. Should I ? Will it look that much better and add to the ambiance? 7 - Finally, are there any 2 seater co-op planes/jets where you can multi player with someone in the same plane? Seems cool! 8 - Call me weird but I LOVE start up sequences and learning them. When you DCS veterans run campaigns or multiplayer please tell me that the start up process of these aircraft is often something you run to simulate real life? Thanks in advance. Go easy on me. Loving the awesome learning and for a non pilot in real life...this game in VR and learning to even start up an aircraft is just awe inspiring.
  6. Thank you. The Erase Failure Red switch light area in the cockpit was going off like crazy the other day I tried a mission. lol erase failure? whats' that? I know, i'll read the manual. so...where is the su25t manual. And, how do I install this English mod? There are no directions at all...figures. How do I install it?
  7. I've looked under the downloads page and cannot for the life of me find an English cockpit section for English cockpits to download. Would you kindly please link?
  8. Ok fellas, things are moving along. What about graphics settings? We all have relatively similar rigs if we are running vr. I am w10 g4 bit, 1 TB SSD, i7 4790, 16 gig ram (that good enough?), 980 Ti. - Is there an accepted "general norm" for graphics settings most people with a similar rigs are using to obtain reasonable results? In training I have almost no judder with everything at high but in a create a mission I had some pretty bad judder - Does the resolution selection matter? In some vr game that is just for the monitor resolution but when I lowered it it made everything look far worse.
  9. Thanks a million everyone. Going to mull over and apply much of this advice and, almost assuredly, return with more questions. After practicing more with basics in my su25 training free plane...I will choose one that has a fully clickable cockpit. Any advice on what plane to use that also will have a training section similar to the built in training? I'm sure i'll need it.
  10. Thank you so much man! I also am having fun learning, just lost a bit. Lol, ok a few things if I may. 1 - The jet is the Su27t ...that default plane in the tutorial. Is this the first plane I should learn? Guessing so since it is the only one I have under training options. 2 - The su27 seems to "bounce around alot" when flying. Lol incoming dumb question...is that due to wind or something? i mean I can fly thorugh the training boxes in flight and land ok etc...but it sure bounces around alot with very suttle movmements. This "natural" flight ? 3 - Some hotkeys aren't binding properly to my x52. The buttons that are simple press work...but many on the "left" x52 controller (not about to go google the button name for this post...but the ones that scroll or spin dont bind or show up). 4 - I'd love any profiles you recommend. I'm hearing I should use profiles in game rather than with the x52 program? 5 - So no default profile for every plane eh? I need to learn how to fly each plane in depth and bind keys per plane? That's kinda cool if the case. 6 - finally, i've tried watching you tube videos but they dont depict any dogfighting well. While I enjoy the basics of flight...I am curious. Is air to air combat etc in this game fun? 7 - I can't believe there isn't even a new pilot forum or general discussion area for people in my shoes that are new to ask their silly questions? Thanks!
  11. I've been using my Rift with Elite Dangerous and some other games for quite some time, but am brand new to flight sims such as DCS. Pardon my couple new threads in this forum but I don't really know where to turn. To make it easy, here goes in simple form - 1. Where do I go to just have "general discussion" or newbie questions. I looked at this forum index and there seems to be nothing of the sort. It's all created as if I'm already an expert but don't see any guide areas or new player discussion forums or set up guide areas. https://forums.eagle.ru/index.php 2. I'm currently on the 4th training mission for unguided bombs. I replay the training missions frequently because I'm learning how to fly. EVERY time I Have to listen to the training mission guy yap again and again and I wat until I can fly and try again. Is there a way to "skip faster" through the training mission? 3. So many options with the RIFT and my x52. Do I bind every action to my x52? Do I set my keyboard in between my legs and BUILD A DARN awesome custom cockpit so I don't have to bind it all? So much coolness....can't find where to start. I need to be directed to a forum where I can ask all of this or find a guide that can at least speed along the process. 2 hours of training missions and x52 key binding behind me and one (ok . . . 3) cabernet to chill out after kids to sleep and some DCS...but I'm lost. Need some help : )
  12. Title says it all. Can I just look at switches in vr somehow and then click them without having to bind everything to hotkeys or my x52?
  13. Can a few other friendly pilots share with me how they recommend I set this up before I spend hours committing to a set up that may be sub par? Just want a few ideas from some vets that may help me go in the right direction. Many thanks!
  14. Ok, that's good to know. I wish that when binding the keys to my x52 in game that I could just tap the button and it would "take effect." Instead, it has the name of each button which I have no clue about and makes it very tedious. Any advice on that? Also, can you point me to a place to go to just download a profile for these in game settings so I don't take forever custom setting it up with keys that have names that I don't even know what they are on my x52 without extensive research? There is nothing i can find with google.
  15. Just took the plunge and am living dcs world so far. I have the x52 and have used it frequently in other Sims. For dcs, I have Google countless times... So please don't scold me for asking....i need help with... 1 - Typically, do I want every action in DCS bound to my x52 so I don't have to use my keyboard while using the rift? Should I bind everything in training to x52 even ship lights, landing gear, navigation options, closing the canopy etc.? 2 - if so, where can I find a pre set profile? . I searched these forums and found a profile for the su27t (or whatever that training module jet we use built into the training module is) and it doesn't seem to work in dcs. Not sure where to put it, if I use the profile in game or just an x52 profile to get it all working. I have found zero setup guides. 3 - what is the fastest way to get my x52 up and running for dcs? Link to a guide or explanation would help. Thank you!
  16. Thank you! Would I want to also use the oculus debug tool and kranky that to 1. 5 as well?
  17. Wow, thank you. Good to know. Taking the plunge tonight To get it running on my rift I can simply check a box in settings? Is there a setup guide somewhere around you recommend?
  18. Thanks guys! I've been using Elite dangerous vr for some time with x52 controllers etc. . Will learning to fly these planes take me eons? Also, does 1.5 have the same graphics as the 2.0. Not worried about money, I'd rather enjoy the experience top notch.
  19. From an outsider looking in and considering DCS world....why not a few more "newer" jets etc? Does ED have any pans to include newer aircraft? Are they not as desired by you guys entrenched in the sim community? Thanks!
  20. I've been playing Elite Dangerous for over a year with the Dev Kit 2 and my Oculus Rift. Also played 20 other titles in VR. So, long story short, VR veteran here who is very intrigued by DCS 2.0 etc. As we all know, seated cockpit experiences are phenomenal in VR...especially when combined with a great game. I have googled ALL OVER and can't find any dcs2 Rift Reviews. Fellow pilots and VR fans....would you kindly point me to a vr review for DCS 2.0 or provide a small one of your own for my consideration? Thank you
