  1. Hi guys, apologies as we had a little break. Here we are back in full swing with some new paint schemes! LMHdjXle530
  2. 2017 6 monthly Carrier Qualifications took place last night with 7 pilots logging 6 traps each to qual. WMcWjx57iXs @Dingo Bob - yeah of course we will look at doing all that great stuff when the real DCS Hornet comes out. We used to do a lot of pitching deck but we opted for no wind and a fast carrier to practice countering angled deck drift as we think maintaining lineup is a tougher skill to master. @ Alf Battle videos when we get the official DCS Hornet :D
  3. Hi Race, short answer is no but please check out the following explanation. Previously in VNAO we had different squadrons for F-14 and F/A-18. This meant that if you were posted to the Hornet sqn after training (like I was) you never flew the Tomcat in Friday combat missions. Also if the F-14 guys didn't show up, the Hornet guys were left without fighters to punch their way in to the target. Also the F-14 guys all thought they were out of a Fighter Fling video and would make demeaning jokes towards the Hornet guys. From these lessons we have decided that VFA-113 and VFA-83 are the only squadrons and there is a mandatory list of DCS modules that everyone should own to be able to fly in the combat missions. Current: 1. F/A-18C 2. UH-1H Forecasted: 3. F-14A/B 4. AV-8B What this means is that each week the mission creator can put any of those aircraft into his mission and depending on who turns up we assign roles on the day. At the moment you only need to be proficient at two aircraft. I have seen the results of having squadrons with their own aircraft types and it was a people relations disaster. It drove a huge wedge between friends and started all sorts of silly squadron rivalry. We want to keep people together as much as possible so that everyone feels like they're part of the same team. It also means that everyone has as much right to fly Harrier or Tomcat in a combat mission as the next guy. We primarily plan on flying the DCS F/A-18C but it's cool to think on any given Friday you could end up in an F-14.
  4. We had a couple new guys Panther and Frost join in, they're new but did pretty good considering we just threw them into the pattern. GhAHoc0zFGg
  5. VFA-83 Rampagers are a virtual DCS F/A-18C fighter squadron and part of the CVW-17 air wing with VFA-113 Stingers. They are integrated into our "mod pack" which means they get access to our extra detailed base Hornet paint and the squadron livery. I also maintain individual pilot names on every jet as well as combining their Greenie Board with our system. We conduct all carrier ops together, they operate within our training and procedures and we have joint missions every few weeks. The only way to fly alongside the Stingers is to join VFA-83. The Commanding Officer 'Strike' has just released this fantastic video showing his CAG jet in a low level flight over Nevada. Great work Strike! OE991aMyA_8

  7. Neither, they are for ballast!
  8. Apologies as video was set to 'private', I have fixed it now.

  10. Tuesday and Friday evenings, 1830-2030 Pacific are the official fly events.
  11. Cool Ghostrider, the voices you hear are part of my LSO mission. If you jump on teamspeak or email me I can send it to you. It's a few hundred triggers and voice acting by a few Stinger pilots that are retired USN aircrew that spent time on carriers.
  12. Hmm there isn't one for that but page 2 will be closest. Might just mean your boxes are a bit smaller.
  13. Hi Ghostrider, I've got good news for you, I have totally integrated all my PLAT crosshairs and MGRS maps into the public ISVA Hornet mod which is available at our DOWNLOAD page. It incorporates our new squadron VFA-83 Rampagers who are part of our air wing. When you enter the cockpit of this Hornet you can hit ESCAPE and select the MANUAL, you should see a list of contents so pick the PLAT crosshair that suits you. Page 2 is the standard 1080 2D monitor crosshair but there are ones for 4K and Oculus Rift also. I'll soon be releasing a tutorial video showing how to use the new crosshairs.

  15. Hey guys, the CO of VFA-83 'Strike' made this great video showing off our joint flights: 2tWAyKYJsLg

  18. Great video! Love the Top Gun dogfight in the middle.
  19. The voices of our Carrier missions are all VFA-113 guys: LSO - Curveball Air Boss - Kirka Approach (Case 3) - Doogie I had them send me recordings and integrated them into the mission.
  20. Thanks Bob, it's awesome standing on the flight deck and being able to walk around in the Rift. In the video I was walking freely toward the landing area as they were approaching. Yeah the skipping is just a bit of warping I guess. We have pilots from Australia, Canada and Hong Kong all flying on the US based host machines so it's still pretty impressive how smooth it is.

  22. Update Teamspeak information as we incorporate VFA-83 into the Bush air wing: -rE2AK8vYeI
  23. Awesome guys. I just updated the mod (current is now 8.2) to fix some things I was unaware of with that version (like a missing weapon release button): I'm getting inundated with emails and messages from great people like yourselves. The way I am running this airwing is based on who turns up and fits in with the rest of the guys. That's literally all there is to it. I'd recommend reading the teamspeak page and taking note that we don't tolerate any negative language towards Eagle Dynamics, DCS or Wags. If you have a problem with Wags you are not welcome on our comms. Entry to the Stingers is very tight as we don't have any spare jets but they do pop up every few months when someone gets busy elsewhere. The Rampagers is a brand new squadron so everyone is welcome to join and try out. VFA-83 is part of the VFA-113 air wing and will be directly involved with most of our ops. If the Stingers are anything to go by grabbing a low modex aircraft would probably be a cool thing as I can imagine it'll fill up in a matter of months.
  24. Yes Flaming Cliffs 3 is required as it's a mix of a few of those aircraft I believe.
