Thanks guys, I agree the carrier should be a bit faster but we have set it to the maximum speed DCS allows the fleet to move. Only way to increase WOD is to add wind which we found has other negative side effects like pitching deck.

The final turn varies depending on aircraft weight and the speed you hold during the turn. There’s no set formula of numbers that will work every time, you need to adjust your turn at the 90 so you’re crossing the ships wake right at the point it’s disappearing. We are normally 30 degrees from final bearing (260) at this point. The abeam distance is also a range, not a fixed 1.2 nm. Use the ship youbfly over on downwind to experiment with more or less abeam distance. When you roll wings level on line-up we recommend you be at 300 feet, onspeed, pitch at 5 degrees and hearing the LSO saying “3/4 mile call the ball”. If you ignore ‘paddles contact’ and extend downwind ‘a few seconds’ you risk ending up long in the groove and the guy behind you will cut you off on final. You are in the wrong in this instance which is why the air boss will send you around and clear the path for the guy behind you. It may seem harsh and tempting to delete the Long In The Groove parameter but if you fly online you will end up with multiple aircraft rolling into the groove at the same time.

Awesome! I know most folk want parking spots but we sometimes load our flight deck fairly tight and like to give the guy spawning in a good buffer so he doesn’t warp damage other aircraft. It was working good at the start where everyone arrived on elevator 2. It’s the current system where you have no idea where someone will appear that’s causing trouble for more than 6 jets. We still manage but just thought it’d be good to highlight.

I try refrain from posting in these forums in general nowadays and I don’t know the specifics of this situation BUT Morkva55 is an amazing modder and contributor to the community. I have known him for many years and he has never been rude or negative. I am guessing there is a level of frustration involved when you create a lot for the community like Morkva does without making big threads about it. Some folk wrap the community up in threads with promises that never materialise. I’m reminded of another guy that spent a year trashing the TM Warthog stick because he was going to ‘make a better one for cheaper’ and then disappeared. Perhaps the lesson here is we should all be more like Morkva, if you want to make something - just do it and hand it out to the community. Don’t look for the appreciation upfront. Anyway that’s my guess as to why Morkva posted the above.

I’m in Oculus Rift now but there are ways to disable TIR so it doesn’t move the LSO view, I think hitting your TIR disable key which is by default F9(?). It’s been a while but you might need to reassign that one.

Hey thank you Phantom. That call was implemented directly a few years back by a real USN Carrier pilot. He informed us we were all far too long in the groove and hammered us down to 15-18 seconds. You need to start turning at “paddles contact” , be 1.2 nm abeam (over top of that AEGIS cruiser), onspeed and roll about 27-30 degrees aob. I start looking at the boat at the 90 and aim to cross the carrier wake at the point where it’s fading out with 30 degrees of turn to go (290). I’m normally rolling wings level, .7nm from the Stennis at 300 feet just before the LSO says “3/4 mile...” But yeah, just lots of practice and it’s great fun.

Thank you everyone! Ruprect my main problem was I has anisotropic filtering set too low. In DCS I turned it to 16X and everything got much clearer! The CVN77 had multiple island logos as it’s where we recognise those who contributed something awesome. Plus it helps new guys recognise if the mod is installed properly as a fast and easy ID.

Hijack I know you mean well and please don’t take offence but absolutely every person I give my LSO mission to knows how to “make it better” :D. Everyone’s free to do what they like with it once it’s released publicly but if you want to make your own mission go ahead, this thread is for my LSO mod and mission. I don’t mind if you want to now create your own LSO mission inspired by this one and release it separately. The VFA-113 one is perfectly tailored for our purposes which involves mostly human LSO which is why it’s relatively simple. We already have our own internal Case 3 mission where approach talks to you the whole way which I will release once it’s had some revisions.

It’s a mild inconvenience but not worth slowing the boat down over. We just power through it and show it who’s boss. NWS HI and differential braking win every time. We successfully spawned 8 Hornets on a fast Stennis together tonight. -
Ha ha we get so many bolters it was starting to get annoying. We found for our videos it’s more fun to see it and hear the human LSOs reacting. The automated LSO voice calls in our mission are there for specific grading reasons. Am nearly finished our LSO school movie which will make it all much clearer.

Hi Jack, the box overlay you are using there is the VFA-113 PLAT crosshair. The real US Navy PLAT CAM doesn’t have the black and red boxes. I made the boxes a specific size based on input from a current Hornet pilot that sometimes flies with us so that the deviations are calibrated to what might realistically require a correction and affect a grading. Therefore the yellow RAMP ALIGN arrow and zooming back is important for those reasons. I can send you the 4K version that has larger grading boxes which would be more suitable to the view you have there.
