  1. Another tweak to this great sim... The default Ka-50 rotor blades have always looked a little too "solid" to me in full motion so I designed this mod to give the rotor blades a more blurred look as I imagine they would appear to the naked eye in real life. Install using Modman Enjoy Blurred Blade Mod.zip
  2. Personally, I would love to see this implemented properly. I have wondered how hard it would be for ED to fix the hud display depth issue from a programming stand point. I am not a programmer, but it could be as simple as changing the z value for the readout. With enough interest in 3d, it could possibly find it's way into a patch. I have tried the analgyph stereo 3d with Black Shark and aside from this one small issue with the hud, the 3d effect is outstanding... but the lack of readability of the hud does tend to wreck the immersion. You really need the hud readings to display as though they are well ahead of the nose of the aircraft (infinity?).
  3. I have also gone down this road and had great success with my setup. I get 20-30 fps in most situations with 3camera view. The 3 main factors I would chose to adjust in your situation be... 1 - increase CPU speed (overclock if possible) 2 - get a Triple Head 2 Go unit (expensive I know, but softth uses too much computer resources) 3 - chose a lower resolution (3x1024x768 still gives great results) Also reducing the field of view has the double benefit of getting rid of distortions where the screens meet up as well as lightening the rendering load. FOV of 60 seems to work best in the view.lua config flie. < This is 60 degrees per screen.
  4. Well I tried what you said and lo and behold it worked perfectly! I just added... Shkval = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 0; height = 0; } ABRIS = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 0; height = 0; } to the end of my monitor settings file and it worked like a charm. Thanks a bunch! luke88
  5. Thanks for the suggestion Slick Twitchy, but I don't think the files you are talking about have anything to do with the HUD only view. I'm using the "3cameras" view which doesn't have reference to the abris and shkval at all, just like the default "1camera" file doesn't. It only has information on how the views aligned to one another and viewing direction. As to your question... The only thing I can think of for starting off in HUD only mode is to try making it the initial snap view by saving it with the save cockpit angles command. (?) Other than that there may be a lua file somewhere that tells the program what initial view to start with. Maybe its the same file that has the abris and shkval mapped into the HUD only view.... ;)
  6. I'm hoping somebody out there can help me out... I have recently started flying with the HUD only view (alt-F1) and am really starting to like it. When I need some cockpit info, I just snap to the part of the cockpit that I need using modified snap views. My question is this - how can I disable the Shkval and Abris windows that are in the corners of the HUD view? I could have sworn that I read something about someone moving these by editing a lua file somewhere, but I can"t for the life of me find that post. I would really like to have the full panorama without the obstructions in the corners. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :helpsmilie:

  8. That's weird. Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling in Modman?

  11. It's in the first post now...
  12. ...I will look into that ...from my experience, no, I have not noticed any frame rate drop. By the looks of it, the pilot figure doesn't have a huge number of polygons for the computer to render, so I can't imagine that it would have much of an effect on performance. Also, the new skin doesn't add any loss of frames from the old one, if that's what you're asking.

This simple mod replaces that old, drab flight suit with one that has a nice, fancy russian camo pattern. Enjoy! To show the pilot's body in-game, press RShift - P Modman compatible Luke88
  16. I am in the process of acquiring a TH2Go myself and would like to know how you fare with the new system. My plan is to use 3 (relatively) cheap XGA projectors to create a true surround setup. It's a pricey proposition but I feel that this sim is good enough to invest in a really good setup and in the end I think the effect will be well worth it!
  17. Are you using a Triplehead2go or using the 4 outputs from your 2 gpu setup? I am curious about the performance hit, and wondering if it can be negated a little if using the TH2go in Vista?
  18. Very nice! I see that there is no overlap in the displays when stretched across 3 screens. I may have to give this a shot. Thanks for the pic.
  19. I've tried this setting on a 1920x1080 monitor just to get an idea of the layout. It looks VERY interesting as a concept but I'm not sure how it is meant to be implemented. Basically, from what I can tell this setup is meant to show a forward monitor view along with 2 side monitor views aligned at somewhere around 45 degree angles. It looks as though it has been designed for the triplehead2go with the side screens facing inward. I think that this type of setup is the holy grail of simming because it does away with the distortion issue of flattening a curved image across a very wide screen and gives the peripheral sense of motion only possible with wrap-around type displays. Previously, the option to have 45 degree side views was only available in Flight Simulator (to my knowledge). The immediate issue that I see when trying this out in Blackshark is that there is noticeable overlap of the 3 views. That is, that the views are not contiguous, but are duplicated at the edges. Mind you, this is only what I saw on a single display and do not have a triple display setup to test it on. Perhaps with a wider screen this is not an issue? Has anyone had any success with this option in Blackshark? If so, could you let the community know how well it works as I think it could be a great option to pursue.
  20. An aircraft flying at sea level on a standard ISA day at 100 knots indicated airspeed with 0 wind will show a ground speed of 100 knots. An aircraft flying at sea level on a standard ISA day at 100 knots indicated airspeed with a 10 knot headwind will show a ground speed of 90 knots. An aircraft flying at sea level on a standard ISA day at 100 knots indicated airspeed with a 100 knot tailwind will show a ground speed of 200 knots. Just to complicate matters, there also comes into effect the thickness of the air itself. As you increase altitude (or temp for that matter) the air becomes thinner and as a consequence you go faster along the ground for a given airspeed than you would down low. This is why jets go high. A jetliner at 35,000 ft could have an IAS of 250K but be doing 450 along the ground. An airplane's wing doesn't know how fast it is travelling along the ground. It only "feels" the medium its travelling through.
  21. Yeah, I wasn't sure about the file structure so I just replaced the INTERLACE.bmp file in the existing file that was originally uploaded. Like I said I'm new to this. I have since removed the offending file.
  22. Version 2 Here's version 2 of my tube-style Shkval mod. This time I made the screen a little rounder. The effect is subtle yet noticeable. Also available this time is a grey version for those that don't like the older green style. Just overwrite the INTERLEAVE.bmp file in the TempTextures folder. Don't forget to backup the old file fiirst just in case you don't like it. Enjoy! Curved Screen Shkval Green.rar Curved Screen Shkval Grey.rar
  23. Ok, bear with me this is my first post ever so I hope it works. Here is my version of this great mod. I wanted to give the feeling of a tube-style screen with darker edges. Thanks HUAF-074. Edit: removed old version
