I wouldn't call GF 1 low intensity, all the latest soviet hardware was trialed under the auspices of the Iraqi regime,

From Wikipedia "The A-10 was used in combat for the first time during the Gulf War in 1991, destroying more than 900 Iraqi tanks, 2,000 military vehicles, and 1,200 artillery pieces. A-10s shot down two Iraqi helicopters with the GAU-8 cannon." and " Four A-10s were shot down during the war, all by surface-to-air missiles. Another three battle-damaged A-10s and OA-10As returned to base but were written off, some sustaining additional damage in crashed landings. The A-10 had a mission capable rate of 95.7%, flew 8,100 sorties, and launched 90% of the Maverick missiles fired in the conflict. Shortly after the Gulf War, the Air Force gave up on the idea of replacing the A-10 with a close air support version of the F16."

So i think your sort of fantasizing in your responses. If you think that only a "Fulda gap" type scenario is the only step into high intensity conflict your wrong. And as a last comment to think about, remember your only as good as your last war, because when the next one starts its learning all over again, thats a fact.....

the a-10c was not in the gulf war.

there are different degrees of realism in regards to mission design. i consider historically accurate scenarios more "realistic" than scenarios that have never happened.

i also consider hunting terrorists in afghanistan and reenacting that important time in history to be much more interesting than killing oddly ill equipped russians on behalf of georgians in a politically implausible situation. at the same time i think there are different levels of realism within fantasy scenarios as well. us/russia blowing up insurgents riding on horse drawn carts and suvs would be a more plausible scenario.

  2. cliffs of dover is a much more complete ww2 product if that's what you're looking for. and the ww2 genre will, in the near-future, likely be dominated by war thunder(world of planes), a great looking f2p ww2/cold war era sim-lite with lock on/il2 level realism and hundreds of planes.

  3. no one said it was going to be completely safe. that's the nature of technology, especially military technology. pilots who use such systems know the risk they're getting into, as do all soldiers.

also what you're proposing is ludicrous in itself. are you going to pin the death of a pilot onto the specific engineer responsible for the system that was eventually determined to be the cause of failure?

  4. I have a question: do the air frames still need to be of matching versions to work together with DCS World?

What I mean by that is, if a patch comes out for DCS World, will we also have to have the matching airframe versions to run with it? Also will two air frames in the same world have to be matching versions to both run and play together?

Essentially this is how it worked before DCS World and I'm wondering if DCS World brings it all together but also adds backwards compatibility since it's modular (or are there interdependent components requiring everything to tie together in matching versions)...

    yes

  5. i test this. it can happen in user created mission too. i suspect the issue is with the cbu bombs.

i drop first one, no problem. then i come back to drop another, the game freeze on pressing pickle

i experience no freezing with first drop. but maybe smoke generation too much stress. ok you test now.

  6. Are those FPS on your machine or can you give the specs of the machine they were taken on? I am assuming this is the EDGE engine as well? Also, where is it at as far as testing and such? Alpha?

that fps is achievable in open space without fps cap. i can get it in a-10 and bs2. i don't think that is indicator of multi-core or optimization, so don't assume anything yet.

  7. Good topic diveplane. These DCS sims are a nice place to come and forget

about things like this but they should not be forgotten. It's amazing how

few people take this thing seriously. Most people I talk to I ask them what

they think about this topic and they look at me and say meh it's no big deal.

Very strange how the media is ignoring this. Borders on the bizzare. Since

you can't see taste or smell radiation people think it doesn't exist. You

would think that all major players in the world would be working around the

clock to neutralize this situation. Is population reduction the goal here ?

you're kidding me right? population reduction?

and please tell me who thinks radiation doesn't exist because they can't taste or smell it? i'd really like to know.

as for why the "major players" of the world aren't doing anything. where do you get this information from? scientists are very weary of the situation. and obviously other than aid and support, countries cannot just go into japan and tell them what to do.

  8. I always wonder why ED don't place our point of view at the true head place...??? It's the same with A-10...

that picture is a bug, it's working as intended on p-51 and black shark(before they removed pilot body)

in a-10, it's to better accommodate the cockpit views and controls. but i hope they put pilot in both black shark and a-10 as well and change the view accordingly.

  9. so you say people aren't thinking this through "360 degrees", then your proposal is to get a static camera inside an ai aircraft. how does that come close to comprehending the programming that goes into something like this?

the first step is certainly not going to be that simple.

  10. before turboprop, probably want to get balloons, especially weather balloons, into this game.

if possible, space shuttle, satellites and space station orbiting the planet.

  11. Well gang you know, there is always the option to go ahead and purchase the full version of BS2.

Yes I know that bites, especially if you have already spent the money on the upgrade version, but it kind of is what it is. If participating in the beta is really important to anyone, I am just saying that is an option. I am sure they probably have a good reason for this.

I have had the original version of Black Shark on my PC for quite some time, got it not too long after it's release. I recently did acquire BS2 however, and went ahead and got the full version - to support ED, and to have available as I knew I would be doing a new puter build later this year, and would save me having to install BS1 first then installing the BS2 upgrade.

Anyway, please take no offense, just saying it is an option if one really , really wants to participate.

    "it is what it is"

    what's what?

also, it's not like they're cutting support for the upgrade version. just wait until they make a patch for that.

  12. Sorry Dive, but this 1 looks more than strange. :(

How can your spotlight/landinglight bright up the rear part of the fuselage and topside of wings ?

This omnilight stuff what you are using isn't "intend" for this purpose.

no, it's accurate. there's reflected light off the runway and the p-51 has a smooth reflective skin.
