    R-73 missile?

Thanks, but why? The missile has it's own seeker and should be not that difficult to integrate? Or is there some fundamental difference with the R-60 in that respect?

    R-73 missile?

I think the addition of the R-73 missile to the module would be a great update and would make dogfighting F-15 level aircraft much more feasible. But I am not sure how realistic it is. Are there MiG-21bis (not Lancer or Bison) aircraft fitted with the R-73?
  3. I would also like something like that. If I were defense minister of a US-aligned country which operated MiG-21's, I'd for sure buy it. On the other hand if you are not aligned with the US, the system would be a liability due to GPS being an American system.
  4. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-produced_aircraft So, the Cessna 172 isn't a jet. Then it must be the MiG-15! To me, also subjectively, that seems like an excellent choice. The MiG-21 would also be a good candidate, as would the F-16.

    How to fly?

To be honest, I'm not sure if starting in FSX is such a good idea. You will be learning to fly a different aircraft with different software. Perhaps not wrong, but I'm not sure that it'll help as much with DCS as actually flying DCS... Also keep in mind that DCS aircraft are provided with training missions which teach you basic things such as: - start up from the ramp - take off - landing - navigation - weapons etc.
  6. I would also welcome civilian aviation to DCS, although I'd be more interested in General Aviation aircraft as opposed to cargo / passenger aircraft. A Cessna 172 I'd buy instantly. Of course, that's also a military plane. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_172#Military_operators

    How to fly?

I believe the greatest strengths of DCS are: 1) Flight model simulation 2) Systems simulation So in any case I believe you should go for a PFM (or EFM) / ASM aircraft, as per the table here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/505/ The Viggen is not mentioned there (too new probably) but that one is EFM / ASM. Then the question is whether to start with something easy (to fly and understand) or something complicated. Even though this is a simulator so you can make as many mistakes as you like, the more complicated aircraft can be a bit overwhelming in my experience. The other question is which design philosophy you prefer, mainly with regards to cockpit design. Being Dutch, I prefer cockpits with metric units, because it gives me a better understanding of things. Of course having to learn Russian is a slight problem, but I'm managing... From the modules that I have, I presently probably like the MiG-15 the most, for the following reasons: It's quite easy to fly but still challenging enough. The systems are quite simple, so they are not too difficult to master them. It has a good match-up with the F-86, but it's also quite possible to fly it against WW2-era aircraft. And as you probably know, the MiG-15UTI remained in service as an advanced trainer for many years. Second recommendation would be the Viggen. It has more complicated systems, but I really like the ergonomy of it's cockpit. And it's brilliant at low-level flying.
  8. Since the MiG-15 is my favourite plane at the moment, I would really love a MiG-17F. I would also buy it for $60. The nice thing about the MiG-17 is it's insanely long service life. Even today it is still in service in some airforces (Mali, Madagaskar, Tanzania, Sudan and North Korea), so it is a somewhat credible opponent for modern jets. MiG-15 vs. F-15 sounds strange, but MiG-17 vs. F-15 would be awesome! :D
  9. Since upgrading to 2.1, I'm having the same problem. In 2.0.5 everything was working fine. I therefore guess it's a bug related to the update and that a fix will be here soon. In the mean time, I think we have to stick with 1.5...
  10. Thanks for the responses so far, especially about the tip regarding the Saitek pedals. It's another EUR 75 but I'll keep it in mind. Regarding the X-55 / X-56, I remember handling it in a store and finding it quite soft, softer than my Logitech. This, combined with reports of throttle problems, makes me consider it not my first choice. Besides, I consider both the X-56 and the Warthog more or less in the same class, and would rather spend a bit more for something better. I also just realised that I should probably have posted this in "Input and Output", perhaps a Mod can help me out here.
  11. Hi all, I am looking for new controls and would like to get some advice. I have been into flight sims since before Falcon 3.0 (even played some on the C64, but I doubt you could call it a sim), but didn't fly a lot for quite few years. Until I discovered DCS a few months ago. At the moment I have the Viggen, the MiG-21 and the MiG-15. In the future I would like to add the Kürfurst and possibly the Gazelle. At the moment I am using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, which is not bad, but I feel it's lacking the following: - Not very precise controls, quite light - Not enough buttons, especially for the Viggen and MiG-21. Note that I don't have TrackIR so I also need buttons for view control. - Very basic throttle which is also sometimes not working at all It's also old and not in great shape, so I am looking for something new. I live in the Netherlands and have set myself a limit of EUR 350, which is not a "hard" limit, but you have to stop somewhere :music_whistling:. I am limited to using whatever I buy on a desk, I am not looking into building a pit (unfortunately). Mainly, I am not sure if I should go for the best possible stick and forget about throttle or rudder pedals, or get a compromise instead. I am looking at the following (second choice between brackets): Complete set: T16000M FCS Flight Pack total EUR 182,70 (Saitek X-56 Hotas + T.Flight Rudder total EUR 300,95) Stick + Throttle (no pedals) Warthog Hotas total EUR 341,70 (Speedlink Airrow + Warthog throttle total EUR 306,16) Stick only: VKB Gladiator Pro EUR 237,77 I have read that quite a few people are happy with the T16000, but I wonder if the Warthog is not significantly better, especially with regards to build quality, spare parts availability and number of buttons. The VKB Gladiator Pro seems to be the "ultimate" desk stick, but I feel it will be lacking in buttons and also the throttle remains limited. At the moment, I am leaning towards the Warthog and eventually buy the rudders later. Any helpful insights would be greatly appreciated. Also some thoughts about the Thrustmaster Flight Rudder would be appreciated.
