  1. TM HOTAS COUGAR PROFILE FOR A-10 TM HOTAS COUGAR PROFILE FOR A-10 Please let me know if there are any problems or changes you would like made. This is intended for use with TrackIR and Rudders. But I can make a version without that if anyone wants it. By the way please check the attached thumbnail before downloading. I have had one or two complaints about the few functions. I have copied the real A10 controls exactly like in the real jet except for a couple of minor differences. I prefer to do it like real pilots. I believe looking for a keyboard switch would be the same distraction a pilot would have going heads down in his cockpit. Its the way I like to fly OF and now A10. 2. Thrustmaster HOTAS COUGAR Profile for DCS A10-C Ok guys this is the latest version of my COUGAR profile for the A10 (I uploaded it in the PROFILES SECTION. It is not FULLY tested so if there are problems please email or PM me so I can fix it. If there are special requests let me know and I will try to update it. Thanks! Feedback will be appreciated. P.S. I have also uploaded the file at LockOnFiles: http://www.lockonfiles.com/index.php/files/category/317-for-dcs-a-10c-only/
  3. Just another couple of things I have done to push my FPS to 40-70... (1) I overclocked my i7 950 slightly to 3.5Ghz. Easily done on stock coolers. Hyperthreading causes most of the over heating and is pretty uselesss so disable that. (2) Instead of using SLI AA I use the ingame AA and leave AA application controlled in the driver. (3) Make sure the game runs on single GPU mode. In SLI your get horrible shimmering and with SLI AA the FPS seems slower.
  4. Also just for the record I also have a 60Hz monitor and notice a little tearing sometimes, basically the tearing bothers me less than fps of < 10!
  5. Colts you cant just come onto a thread and say something is not true. I HAVE tested this, I am not sucking it out of my thumb... On MY system I DO get better FPS, maybe it doesn't help in your system but it does in mine. And I am not talking about simply getting higher AVERAGE rates. I am talking about 50 fps vs 30 fps in stable conditions. So do with it what you want but I suggest at least trying this, for those folks who are having severe FPS problems.
  6. I am not sure about the Saitek... is the trim button an 'axis' or is it a type of POV hat. I am using a HOTAS Cougar and find that when trim is mapped to an axis it is VERY sensitive and you need to reduce the sensitivity ALOT. In earlier DCS games like Lock On and FC2 the trim mapped to a hat switch didn't work very well because the steps were too large resulting in over trimming. However since A-10C I have noticed 'buttons' or a hat view used for trimming works EXTREMELY well as the steps are small enough! Also IRL pilots use AUTOPILOT alot to reduce work load. I suggest: (1) Make sure your trim functions are programmed to a HAT switch or similar and not an axis. (2) Remember the trim mantra: POWER, ATTITUDE, TRIM! (3) Once trimmed for straight and level flight use autopilot to reduce work load. If you still can't trim after (1) then I think there is probably something wrong. Regards
  7. Hi I suggest you speak to Sheldon at scsimulations.com. He would best be able to advise you on that matter.
  8. Hi - Initially I used FORCE ON. Thinkin that it would result in smoother fps. HOWEVER I found I got the best results with VSYNC OFF! When I force off in my nvidia control panel, vsync for some or other reason stayed on. However when I put in on application controlled, vsync was off in game and frame rates much better. (I may have a bad driver installation?) So I recommend VSYNC on application controlled in your driver control panel and MAXFPS 120 in graphics.cfg (default). JP
  9. Ok will do. I did several training missions and realised you couldnt save the tracks from training missions. I will get round to doing a track this week. Unless someone else wants to do it. I have set up a simple take-off from runway mission - fly to range, MAVS and GUNS. Fly back and land.
  10. Hi guys I just thought I would let you know what I figured out re: optimizing FPS. Windows 7 64 bit. CPU i7 950. GPU NVIDIA GTX 465 x 2. RAM 4GB. (1) Dropping a single resolution level does not seem to make a massive difference rather try to run in native res. (2) When using SLI disabling it worsens performance. (3) If using NVIDIA SLI using SLI AA mode I get better FPS than 3D performance mode. SLI AA 8x with AF 8x. (4) Disabling HDR did not make a noticable difference. (5) Using the HUD only view for combat makes a huge difference. So I tend to switch to cockpit only when I need too and use my HOTAS for most things - USE HUD ONLY MODE when possible results in MASSIVE fps gains. (6) Using 512 cockpit did not result in a worthwhile performance increase. (7) Scenes to medium and water to low result in a big fps bonus with not too much loss of eye candy. (8) Textures to medium results in slightly better fps but ugly pit. (9) VERY NB! With NVIDIA using driver to vsync results in MAJOR performance hit!!!!! Rather set to application controlled in driver settings and make sure MAXFPS in graphics.cfg is 120. I didn't notice any tearing with trackIR in a 15 minute flight. So if it occurs it only does so rarely. I would rather have fps averaging 60 with once in awhile tearing than fps averaging below 30!!!!!!!! This was the big one for me. I will add to this the more I find out.
  11. Well I can make a track file of the Maverick Mission if you guys like. I can do it tonight and upload.
  12. Thanks Carney - thats what I was thinking. Leave it on default in CCP and then tweak in the sim.
  13. Just a quick question (which I have actually had since Black Shark and FC2). When using the TM HOTAS Cougar Control Panel to setup axis curves, dead zones and so on, how does this affect the IN GAME settings with regards to axis curves, etc. Is it better to leave everything on default in the CPP and then only to set the axis tweaking IN GAME? Or should one leave the in game settings on default and tweak it using the CPP? Any ideas will be welcome.
  14. Hi guys, I currently am unable to afford the new WARTHOG HOTAS (which I WILL be buying soon)!!!!!! So I have created a COUGAR profile which works really well. It is very simple and based on the real WARTHOG HOTAS. All the functions are accurately represented and intuitive. It is designed for use with TrackIR and a rudder. However can easily be modified. If anyone is interested I can mail it to you.
