  1. Today i finally got my rift, And its so much better than i ever dreamed.

Even my budjet rig runs it great. Pixel density 1.3, its enough to make everything better looking but still i can spot targets far enough. I only fly nevada so 1.5 may be not so good.

I have been flight sim guy from 1990 (320x240rez etc.. ) and when i see what we have now i just cant belive it.

I dont't miss my triple or single screen setups.

My chrismas is now ! :D

  2. Other than adding switches or other hardware, what would the benefit be?

More resolution... 8 bit is 255 steps , so you get about 127,25 steps for full left to center pedal and same for right side.. and lets say that your pedas move 15cm from center to full left = its not so analog anymore

10bit is 1024 steps , much better. :smilewink:

Same is for ch joysticks , even fighter stick usb has 8 bit board in and it has long travel , so movement steps are easy to notice.. Makes fine control near imposible :)

  3. I think it would be best if object far would be very dark so we could get contrast. In rift blue sky and grey dot far isnt good enough why not to make object far very very dark;)

This , i have been in sim's since 320x240 was awesome rez ... its not just low rez , its how you make game or sim for it.

Plain flanker 1.0 style graphics for me thanks.. and i mean it. :)

  4. Just bought Oculus rift, about week and it should be here :) Its used but in very good condition. Cost me just below 600euros , so no more games for me this year. (Tight budget) Maybe one more module (i look you F-5) and thats all. But im sure that VR is more than enough for chrismas present :joystick:

I feel like little boy :D

  5. I confirmed. If you puchase the HDK2 you will spend more time trying to make thing work than playing in DCS. I like that, it gives me the feeling of beeing an hacker (which is obviously not true) but I think that it is not the case for a lot of people.

New firmware should make thing lot better , please tell what you think when ever you have time to test.

    :)

  6. I mentioned before that I am working on Cougar gimbal. I acquired Cougar enclosure and started to work on new gimbal. It is similar to NXT gimbal but for a fraction of cost. I know that this comes maybe 10 years to late, but it will be possible to use this on custom enclosures. I'll provide a cutting template for custom enclosures. Than again maybe there are still a few Cougar owners who are stuck with crappy gimbals and would like to upgrade.

Idea is to print 4 parts and add ball bearings and few screws and nuts to it. I was worried on M36x2 threads, I have never printed threads before but fortunately everything works like charm.

Sorry for bad photos, I worked in the evening.

All parts seem to be very strong.

Ball bearing are not going easy into their slot but with few tricks they obeyed.

    4 ball bearing are needed.

I was able to print slots for M4 nuts.

I don't have proper springs yet. These that I have are to wide any very light, just for test at the moment. I still have to buy few more screws.

In the end everything sat in place as planned. Whole gimbals are bigger than NXT, but It must had been done like that. I still have to see how strong it is when I find proper springs.

I made mountings for sensors that have 34,5mm hole spacing. Sensors like GVL224 and others produce.

I'll post test results soon. Planned price for complete gimbals is around 75$.

  7. Hi All,

    Tested with OSVR HDK2:

    - Zoom work propely, even with HUD

    - Brightness work fine also

    No FPS lost in my case (i5 6600k, gtx 1070, 16Go DDR4)

    Mod tested and approved

    Excellent boulot Lefuneste

  8. Really cool. Toss bombing was one of my favorite things to do in Jane's F-15... Of course, it was a bit easier with the whole patch map designation and HUD/CCRP guidance..

My favorite sim ever , and low level attacks were really immersive. ( last time i played it 4 years ago)

  9. Tracking is the weak point of HDK2, I hope that it is for the moment only. A new version of tracking software should be provided one day.

But the mod should work for all headset.

Hi, can you give some details how bad / good is tracking with hdk2 (i can get really cheap hdk 2 )

Can you play/fly easily with hdk2 , without it loosing track etc..

    Thanks
