  1. Just try to find a picture of a Mirage 2000 flying or firing an Armat/ Martel...apart the few ones of Mirage 2000C RDM from 1/2 Cigogne bases in Dijon at the time.

It was done for Paris Airshow.

Just that is hard. Now imagine finding data about how to use it...what do you think ?

Razbam is CIA or KGB, they have full documentation about all M-2000 variant, but there is a secret plot to prevent you from getting SEAD on a fast moving jet in DCS World ?

  2. We don't have data to make a full fidelity ARMAT firing sequence on M-2000.

It would be wild guess...even without taking care of M-2000 variant. There is no cue on how to use Armat/ Martel on any Mirage 2000.

  3. Every BMS player (sorry to bring it up ) is desperate for a full fidelity DCS module with some SEAD capability , it might not be completely realistic adding the ARMAT to the M2000c but how padantic do we want to be , its a sim after all . You could argue that M2000c should only be flown in French livery . Its not exactly black and white which is why i believe the option should be there .

Just think of those sales and the boost to the community , it would be a great trade off , and still within the bounds of "sim realism " .

I don't understand the point. BMS has several modes to fire HARM. Most of them are pretty good.

There is a contradiction in requesting a full fidelity module, and asking a weapon system without any data on how to use it...

  4. I don't think you should speak on behalf of the "majority" of the community. It is clear a large amount of people would like the ARMAT. Only a pole could tell for sure.

Also saying "In 5 years when we have X" does NOT make me feel better!!!

Here is the end all be all where I am concerned... If sufficient documentation can be found to implement the ARMAT onto the Mirage 2000C in a realistic manner, EVEN IF the plane never carried it, I say go for it.

That's not a small IF...the only books I have talk about Mirage IIIE or Jaguar A and it's not detailed.

Having non-french liveries for the M2000C is justification enough.
Please be serious...consider these liveries as a gift to the community. These liveries would have been made by the community anyway, so it spares times to talented "painters". Nothing more.

Would the request have been legitimate if the liveries have been made by the community ?

If it is simply not possible to realistically implement it even if it was never carried or tested because we cannot find out how the weapon worked, so be it.

Until new data come to surface this is the current situation.
  5. Export versions aren't 2000C. I don't know the differences between the french C and the export versions, or if there are any. But it all doesn't matter anyway as long as there is no documentation how the ARMAT works on the M2K. So unless someone finds documentation how it works, the whole discussion is a bit pointless.

2000 E have RDM radar, from what I see of Greek Mirage the PCA handle weapons differently.

From some fellow Greek report exocet options are selected on radar screen making it a MFD.

They have different ECM, an external store management panel on right side...

    The system behave differently...

  6. For Snake eyes try fast and very(!) low. The idea of the retarded bomb is to be able to do a low drop without getting hit.

The concept is to stay below the radar, drop the bombs on target and get outta there below the radar again...

I managed to see the pipper and get good hits that way, still the Mk-82 type isn't a precision weapon. ;)

    Amen

  7. I don't know how many time I will have to say it:

You can't release on INS waypoint.

The INS WPT is an help to find the target in HUD.

Then you designate in the HUD for radar ranging, so the system know where the target is and guide you for the pull up release.

  8. Runway craters do damage jets trying to take off, generally preventing take off. The real problem is the cratering isn't persistent. Only people who were on the server when it happened can see and are affected by the damage. If you joined after or disconnect and rejoin, the damage is gone.

ok, great MP code then :D

  9. you probably played Falcon :) there it is modeled. It is not modeled in DCS, there are no craters and nothing stops you from rolling over a bombed position.

It would be fun to virtually bomb their runway, but it is better that it doesnt stop them from use it, it is not the goal not to see them in the air :)

    Weird thinking

Bombing a runway is risky business, what's the purpose of such efforts if it's still usable???

  10. In the poll is not specified if the jammer will be developed before or after the other systems (like INS). The poll is about an "absolute" opinion. You want or not.

There is a jammer, the remaining question is how to operate it.

  11. This is Mirage 2000-5Mk2 radar panel...

Mirage 2000EG got upgrade, they have the same PCN as 2000-5Mk2, I suspect they changed INS as well and upgraded auto pilot.

    Surely useful for Exocet missions...

H.NAV is to follow automatically flight plan.

Available on all Mirage 2000-5 derivatives, and NAV.H on Mirage 2000D/N

  12. In fact we often confuse INS and PCN (including myself).

    Roughly the INS already work.

What is missing is data insertion in PCN.

It's not a waste of time, even more for AG missions.

This is what will allow you to do "on call CAS" by inserting target's coordinates into the system.

This is what will allie you to easily divert on another airfield, in poor weather.

Of course the whole thing is next to useless if you only make dogfights.

But you can do much more with M-2000C.

  13. All you need is an appropriate collision shape for the fuze. No, it's not simulated.

Fuze is very simple: Distance from missile to your virtual pilot's helmet.

Well, it explains why when I do post flight analysis I see so many times missiles shaving close without exploding !

Good summary about Matra missiles family. Just don't get lost between R530, Super 530F and Super 530D.

Range appears to be missile's flight range.

    http://pakdef.org/r530-and-super-530/

  14. It means that we need to dig further to understand how DCS warhead are simulated, how proximity fuse are simulated and they interact with each other.

Doppler proximity fuse don't explode right away, usually there is a selected delay depending on closing speed.

    Is it simulated ? I don't know...maybe others do.

When you read "warhead : 30kg" this not 30 kg explosive, it's less.

    But shrapnel extend radius effectiveness.

If warhead effectiveness is determined just by the weight it ok. If not we need to dig.

And finally dome late SARH missiles have LOAL seeker...

  15. nah, it's a little better than a wild guess. ECM right now is general DCS thing, it's a "here I am, shoot me! " sign ;)

Yes, DCS ECM is simplified. This is precisely why such feature is futile in current environment.

  16. About warhead:

The load is usually explosive + pre-fragmented high density metal to generate shrapnel. So it's not really 32 kg of explosive...

I know the source talking about 50km range.

I think it's meant to emphasize on seeker good sensitivity.

But it would need further explanation, since being SARH seeker range would depend on target's RCS too.

  17. In the mission linked above I am not getting the glidescope or beacon though I have them tuned in. Are there altitude parameters to pick them up?

One good starting point is to be level 1500ft above airfield at 8Nm and intercept LOC, you will intercept GLIDE around 5Nm, than follow the box with your FPM.
