  1. Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyones been havin issues with dcs switching audio outputs from their usb headsets to speakers then back in the matter of 10 sec?

I'm using the hp reverb for a headset but i just received a replacent and its doing the same thing so I've ruled that out also it doesn'thappen in anyother vr game/cliff house so its isolated to dcs . I've swapped usb ports to every available port. Theres no rhyme or reason to how often it tries to do this but it makes it unplayable because everytime it switches it hangs the sim and after long enough it crashes dcs .

If anyones had this issue and found a solution please let me know thanks.

  2. I think it's just the move from 16 -> 32. I don't think speed is irrelevant but for sure it's using 19gb according to my monitoring. Using this thread and some anecdotes from other similar ones I could see that almost everyone claiming they were happy with performance had 32gb of ram. There is even one within the last two pages that has slower memory, but 32gb and says it's cool.

Yea man have to agree with you there, everyone I've talked to thats happy with performance has 32gb.

I have 16gb and im in the same boat, but I also have a 3770k thats what I'm trying to investigate but I only have issues with a lot of static objects around and my cpu load would be fine but bad fps. Changing settings doesn't hardly change the fps, I mean from shit low 1.0 pd to high settings is 25fps to 32 fps avg. I tried on an empty map out in tonopah on the nttr and I get good framerate. Its not even when there a lot going on on the map its when there's tons of static objects. What I don't understand though is I'm only using 13.9gb of my 16 ? My problem is I have 4x 4gb sticks and I don't wanna buy 32gbs of ddr3 lol so I might as well buy processor ram and motherboard anyway.

Edit: missed your post about upgrading ram . Will need to grab 32gb then it seems.

  3. At the FW-190 Anton thread, some people discovered a connection between wake turbulence and FPS drops. I have to test it more, but the instant mission with large bomber groups already confirms that something's wrong with it. I saw the same effect in the Museum Relic campaign for the Mig15 and F86. Large groups of aircraft in the vicinity = massive frame drops. On a MP server sometimes one aircraft is enough to let the frames drop to the ground.

Ok that makes sense theres tons of aircraft on the ramp in the mission I was testing fps in.

  4. Yea just played a bunch of vr games at %130 SS on the reverb so 3000x3000 ish. Onward locked 90 fps , fallout 4 90 fps , raw data 90 fps . So I dont think its a WMR or steam vr issue I know steam vr just updated.

  5. Yea man I got my reverb on Tuesday and it was snooth 45 fps locked , now I cant get 45fps in single player , seem like turning settings down does nothing, I went even lower than your settings and still was just making it to 42-44 in the caucuses ready on the ramp hornet, no msaa or shadows with my O+ I was getting 45 fps locked there with %150ss (which is higher than the hp reverb at %100) msaa×2 and low shadows now its dog shit not sure what they broke , never tried a different aircraft will shortly.

  6. Got mine today all I can say is wow! Played from 230 until 945 with a break for food but I left it on and no issues at all.

One question does looking down in the hornet cockpit look foggy ? The ufc and all the black up front is dark but below the canopy bil it looks foggy on all colors ,is it a dcs setting or something? Its not because it isn't oled because its just in the hornet cockpit everywhere else is fine.

  7. That's great news, thanx :) The Hornet is like most other FBW airplanes. When I flew my first FBW plane IRL I was surprised that the feel is basically completely gone.

It's like painting by numbers and I pity the poor pilots who never had a chance to fly 'real' airplanes.

No pilot would ever start on a FBW aircraft. Everyone starts on a full up mechanical flight control system.

  8. Pull up the checklist page on a ddi and throw the dump switch to get rid of fuel til your under the 33k max trap weight. One of the legacy hornet's biggest weakness is it's limited take home weight of ordinance. Therefore if youre trying to keep things realistic in terms of trapping back on the boat with whatever you didn't expend in a mission you'll have to sacrifice some of the fuel.

What you've described in terms of your on speed flying definitely sounds like you're jet is heavy and requiring more thrust to keep lift

    Exactly this^^

Natops should have approach speeds for every possible configuration . To simplify it though just fly on speed aoa. Its quick and easy to get the a/c weight via the checklist. I knew you were too heavy when you said 150-160kts. You will be 120-140 if you are good for weight. Have fun!

    Cheers

  9. Not true. All of the flight control surfaces are powerd by both left and right hydraulic systems via switching valves. What happens at start up (at least to my understanding) is that when right engine is started up and hydraulic pump starts to provide pressure and those surfaces that are not behind switching valve (left aileron for example) are powered pretty fast, but those surfaces that are behind switching valve are powered only after hydraulic pressure is high enough to beat the spring loaded switching valve. On the blue angels start up video left engine isn't running in my opinion when right aileron starts to move. Correct me if i'm wrong ofc.

Exactly what happens , the switching valves have 9 seconds to switch if they don't they will trip a blin code I believe 66/67 for left and rh ailerons don't quote me though going off memory, then they are replaced. The hornet can run the FCS on 1 hyd system regardless of which one it is all be it with slightly sluggish controls compared to both systems but not enough for you to visually see. I'm a airframe tech on the hornet so this is my job.

  10. Just noticed when I was flying a night mission that if you put the EW on the HUD the HUD brightness Knob doesn't affect the EW symbology it remains at full brightness. Don't really think I need a track file for this one.

  11. Radar elevation breaks when I use the JHMCS and then turn it off , or go back to air to ground not sure what breaks it but I have the track attached it happens after my wingman downs the first F-4 , this isn't the first time its happened it just hard to reproduce. Second Bug is after using ACM mode you are unable to move the sensor select back to the SA page finally got it to work after cycling the AA master mode a few times, that part of the track can be found near the end.

File too large to upload here's a Gdrive link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dLIADC5Ms_T4YGHlqXVzAF8zjmsbeZNB/view?usp=sharing

  12. Yea it definitely does this for me as well, you have to unbox ltws and lock nothing then undesignate and re-box ltws then it seems to stop doing it until next time you soft lock something, it also doesn't forget the other tgts you soft lock so next guy you soft lock is just an X . Even after you unlock the main tgt . I've just turned it off for now .

  13. Even in its current state its pretty easy to correlate the info between the radar and SA pages. The HAFU has top and bottom segments. The moment a datalink only contact is seen on your radar it gains a top HAFU symbol and usually transitions to unknown symbology.

Well that's not really the point, I have no problems telling which is which. The key is having the aircraft accurate, later when ground designations and ground radar and tgp are added , it maybe difficulty to differentiate between what your radar is picking up and what you are looking at with the tgp, all of these should follow the same point. The same way the f-16 does in bms and that's what I have seen in the 18 as well irl . Maybe though that was added later in the blocks with software though.

  14. Interesting, maybe they were given additional info from SMEs, etc. I know Wags was the one to respond to that before, perhaps he will chime in and clarify.

Edit: Just looked at Wag’s most recent video and they are not sync’d in his version so not sure ehat’s going on there if you say they are in the beta release.

Yea I'm talking about the actual aircraft software. It may have changed to allow both to follow each other sometime between 2005-present . I can't really post a video for proof for obvious opsec reasons but the current software load slews both.

  15. Just noticed that you can only designate a TGT with the HUD when you have bombs selected in auto. In the real aircraft you can designate a point on the ground with the hud regardless of having bombs. Pretty much the same way the A-10 does it. Also you can range that and have to Coordinates displayed as well but that's probably part of the AG radar.

Just wondering if this is in the works to be implemented , I know the jhmcs ground designation is planned but didn't hear anything on the hud designation.

It would be useful to have because you can keep track of a tgt area on the fly, sometimes you loose sight of the tgt when you are turning around to attack.
