It used ram but the hydro-coupling used static pressure to control.
so ECU had static pressure sensor for reference but ECU had to have pressure sensor in manifold to control MP so if ramm air was a thing in bf then while accelerating it should somehow unload supercharger or in some case supercharger wasnt even needed when ram air was enought to provide little boost like in shalow dive at very low ATA bearly exeeding outside pressure for example.

It's no obscure fact that DCS WWII is moving along slowly. How would simply growing the manpower of the team affect this? Can it be done? Is it already being done?
i can volunteer if ED planning to open "sily complains department"

OK, That seems farily convincing. There's nothing about the historical Spitfire 9, especially gainst the FW190D9 that should determine such an outcome.
I am guessing that the AI's ability to pull rediculous G and hold un-naturally high AoA is responsible.
As for multiplayer options... to be honest .. they are few. I've even seen some comments on r/hoggit referring to "the ww2 server", by which I think people are referring to Burning Skies.
There are a limited number of options:
1. Burning Skies - dogfight server on the Caucasus map. No WW2 assets. Non-historical low-level furball syle server - server is based in Europe.
2. Storm of War server (www.stormofwar.org) - historical missions on the Normandy map with Ww2 assets. Currently only up on Sunday nights, once per week - server is based in Europe.
3. RAF662 server - low-realism settings (icons on) and exterbnal views too I think. Has AI aircraft. Based in the USA or Austraia, am not sure.
i fly only on Burning Skies preaty good mission with dogfight and ground targets, map is caucasian becouse very small ammount of ppl actualy had bought normandy map + asset pack price on those are rediculous for casual player so caucasian map is as good as any other, anyway in caucasian map region north part during ww2 took great air battle so not so unaccurate after all
i have normandy map and asset pack but to find any server filled with players is almot impossible i dont like AI flaying on map while fighting another player

Fully aware that they don't use the PFM but I was probably expecting the AI to be more dumb like the other prop AIs to compensate for my (lack of) ability :D.
I had it only the default skill setting but when I reduced it to the easiest I latest a little longer and got a few pot shots off but they still minced me and my wingmen.
practise pracitse that is only answer

Is something new going on in this case? Maybe should we accept that it will be so and nobody will take care of it anymore. In a few other modules there was the same problem and it was repaired a long time ago, and nothing happens here. It would be good if someone from ED finally wrote something here.
this sun problem persist since i bought spitfire, cannopy glass which didnt move with cannopy frame took quite time to fix i think right now ED send spitfire team somewhere else

I've been flying the German props a bit lately and while I have no issue fighting against AI Mustangs and just cannot seem to fight the AI Spitfires. They just seem to be able to turn on a dim and latch to your tail and never let go. Even my AI wingmen are hopeless to them.
So what do you experienced German pilots do to fight the Spitfire? Particularly in the Fw190D-9 given I really don't see many strengths in her. She's gets outturned and I don't find her faster than the others.
what dificulty is set on your AI oponents if the highest is set. AI in the highest difuculty is using phisics laws from other dimention set it to easy this will make your life easier if you want proper challange join online pvp server
basicly AI dont use PFM like players do. so at high dificulty ai will hit you from 500m and more and spitfire will catch up to bf109 in vertical climb no problemo
-
It uses STATIC pressure.
no ram air and it can maintain full boost up to 24k ft that is crazy
-
Actually ED has a P-47, de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI and Fw-190 A-8 on progress and Me262 on follow.
The AI planned can be check here:
beside p-47 and fw190 im so keen to see twin engine piston props in game :)

any way i spend 99% time in air while siting in spitfire or any other plane and i never encounter thin i dont know what you are doing with those planes :P
i was returning form combat with so heavy damage and never encounter this :P Once i had a big hole in wing that i could see my landign gear :P
-
Yes - I've had exactly this this a number of times recently.
QUESTION IS WHICH VERSION ARE YOU RUNNING OPEN BETA OR STABLE ??

From reading those notes, I'm getting the impression that it is implying that it is better to let her ride on 2 wheels - rather than risk pulling back on the yoke before the mains were actually on the ground.
I don't actually recall seeing any contemporary RAF footage or photos showing a Spit landing on anything other than the mains. Just anecdotal of course. I'm not a pilot. I do suspect that any modern Spits moight be handled somewhat differently than back in the day. I was based a Coningsby just before I left the RAF - saw plenty of the BBMF kites, but never took a lot of notice of technique. Also worked on Chipmunks - different beasts, but still a taildragger, and they were perfectly happy rolling on mains for quite a while before settling.
3 point landing is just safer but pilot must be carefull not to hit dround with tail wheel first. tail wheel is not too strong :P
while landing 2 point plane have plenty speed and thats not good for undercariege

what about DB605 and its supercharger ?? So if i uderstand this in case of bf109 faster you flying more power you get becouse bf109 has ability to lower superchargher speed.
so for example at constant ata 1.2 supercharger will gradualy slow down while accelerating. So bf109 is able to avoid this overboost power drop. i assume thast bf109 has somekind ram intake ??

64-65" was with water only when using 130 octane. With 150 octane using water at 65" was optional but it did give a bit more power than not using water.
If we get 70" then we'll be using 150 fuel so 64" with water will be optional.
i read somewhere that 65" water was optional with 150 but if you go too hot on header temp it could be risky so beter with water :)
btw anyone know how big was water tank in p-47 and what water/fuel ratio was injected ?? ??

:lol::lol: Didn't mean you mate, just a "fun tip" with regard to your comment .
Now you say, interesting thing that about boost and rpm. So in the end what was a better engine? Makes oneself wonder.
S!
both were great engines. designers faced difrent problems like in my opinion was the most important fuel quality. take note that before MW50 introduction DB605 was limited to something about 2700rpm and 1.35-1.4ATA which is very low boost compare to allied cunterparts
even today engines like merlin find many aplications like boat racing air racing drag racing etc:)
-
Yah, what Grafspee is saying there. Auto works per se, but not in every conceivable situation, meaning you'll need to switch over to manual open occasionally.
yes just immagine that you diving after bf109 in p-51 and you keep your radiators auto thne you are about to hit 505mph limit speed so you retrac throttle so auto radiators start to closing bulkheads and suddenly bf109 going form dive to streight vertical climb so you are goint to full power and in to vertical climb with radiators shuts completly closed (it take good 20secodn to open them) you probably alredy know what will happen :) bf109 radiators open form 0 -100% in just a metter of 2-3 seconds maby
-
Check out the weight of the Merlin v the BD605.... The BD605 is only slightly heavier.
They used alloys for the engine block. Two very different principles, the British wanted to have a rugged engine that could be maintained in the field whilst the 109 were more likely to swap out the engine and have the old engine fixed elsewhere.
At least that is how I have been led to believe.
i think the engine block was cast aluminum alloys but cylinder liners were made of steel i think
-
It's funny how people usually are unaware that the DB605 displacement is actually ~36 litres while the Merlin displacement is 27 litres, a way smaller engine for the same output power.
S!
did i mention anything about merlin i write griffon. hmm:mad:
and the power in merlin case comes from bigger boost levels at which engine can run safely 18.3lbs would transfer to ruthly 2.3 ATA + merlin can run 3000rpm vs 2850 DB605 w/MW50
100/130 fuel grade man
-
this bounce looks so funny :P
-
You can run at any setting as long as you keep RPMs above throttle setting and keep an eye on water and oil temps. If ur temps get high you have to manually open the respective radiator because the auto radiators dont work.
auto radiators are working but auto curvature is set for minimal drag so most of the time at high power setting it will keep the highest temp as possible to reduce drag as much as possible so when you about to do couple turns and expecting big loss of speed open them manualy.(vertical climb for example)
at least that's what i noticed so far coolant temp stops just right before red line on auto so whne you do sudden change of speed radiator bulkhead transversal speed is not enought to prevent overheating

Gonna hijack the thread here :smilewink:
I am not asking you to compare the planes. I like every single one of these glorious fighters. Instead, I'd like to know what differences, if any, there are between the 4 modules.
Some of them are quite old by now, some are still new-ish. I've heard they've all been updated to the current DCS standards but the information is sparse.
Is any one of them heavier on the framerate than the others ? Is any one of them graphically superior, especially in the cockpit ? Are sounds modeled significantly better (or worse) on any one of the 4 modules ? Is any of them known to be buggy ?
I know the simple solution is to get them all, but obviously at $50 each I want to make sure I get the most of any addon I get and not buy more than I can fly the living crap out of  I think 1 German and 1 Western fighter is a good compromise.
So, which ones are the ones I should go for ?
first i would advice you to wait for discount and then buy them all

and typhoon used napier sabre engine 24cylinders and late war versions peak with over 3000hp :P that was crazy engine with 36liters displacment this engine outclassed all other v12 like db605 or griffon
is any tempest/typhoon airworthy today ??
-
Similar to the Typhoon in that regards and the Typhoon was used as a low level 190 interceptor.
do i recall it correctly that typhoon was the fastes plane on deck during ww2 ??
-
Hey guys what's the optmal altitude for a Fw-190 A-8?
I've readed here that she is a Low-to-middle altitude bird, how much its a middle altitude? 2k?
i would say basicly spitfire proformance wise
-
the same thing - if you keep MP constant, charge temperature decreases with altitude. So, charge density increases.
i alwayes think that during climb air at spuercharger inlet change but it cant realy :P same flow speed same pressure only temp is changing. so supercharger alwayes works with full power in p-51 when engine is at 3000rpm:doh:
natural aspirated engines(SI) while running below max power encounter pumping losses(throttle partialy closed) but in supercharged ones it must be mitigated then.

i think that's not true i think they got lots of work right now, they announced so many things recently. i think that this thing is just priority and i have feeling that sun fix for spitfire is long way from now :P
