Very nice

I think the Viggen and JF-17 already have one. :smilewink:

Check also that you are in Sim mode, not Game mode in your settings. Hope this helps.

Ha.
Ya, now that the flight model has *stabilized* a bit, I plan on making more this summer. As you said, putting it all together from a more complete, practical, "that pilot sh!t" perspective.
I'm looking forward to this!

I've used both the Rift S and Reverb and have no problem seeing the Ball with either.

I hope they include a carrier group template for all the key maps. It is possible to build one yourself but it's time consuming and having one that's ready "out of the box" would be great.
Also I'm not sure what a typical carrier group consists of and the exact placement so having someone set this out is also useful.

Well played ED. Certainly brought a smile to my face.

It's gorgeous

FWIW I just flew a mission with the exact same setup. All 4 mavs went exactly were I wanted them. Perhaps running the repair utility will help fix the problem.

Great summary. Thank you.

I have both and fly the Hornet most of the time. Carrier ops is something I never get tired of and having a platform capable of both A2A and A2G makes the Hornet my go to jet.

I don't think you want to do this. I'd imagine the stuttering will be terrible. I agree with David that adding an extra SSD drive is the way to go.

DevPreach, a few things to try:
* First of all check all your control settings to make sure that your pitch and roll settings can only be done via the joystick. Occasionally other axis controls will be set up for pitch etc and you need to "clear" these unnecessary inputs.
* as other stated, just do a few clicks at a time. I normally do 3-4 clicks, relax the grip on stick, see what happens, then adjust. After a while you get a feel for how much you need.
* in terms of the throttle, the thing you have to accept is that there is no "set and forget" throttle position, so you're continually moving it up and down. Plenty of youtube videos showing pilots in real life continually moving the throttle back and forth. If I need to add power, then I would "bump" it up, once I hear the engine whine increase, I would look to bring it back to the original position. Then anticipate either moving it up again, or bringing it down a little. Again it's practice as others have said.
Hope this helps. Glad to see that you're using your time productively whilst at home!

Some of my favourites:
- Landings on taxiways
- Take-offs in the opposite direction of the active runway flow
- Smoke bomb trails drawn along runways/carrier
- 1-10 second lags (screen freeze) at crucial moments while air-to-air refueling and carrier landings. :crash:
But seriously, despite the inevitable imperfections of a simulated playground, I can very much recommend taking the effort to slowly ease yourself into the multiplayer experience.
ha ha ha. So true. But it is fun seeing this stuff.

LeCuvier - Followed your instructions and it all works great. My Warthog throttle switching are working the way they should. It's so strange that DCS doesn't do this as standard.
Thanks very much for writing the code and sharing it!

I have always been reluctant to use MP because of my time. I have since retired and I may seriously reconsider it.
Multi-player is a lot of fun - immersion is much higher. Flying with another human is going to beat AI any day, regardless of how good it is.

My first thought is have you moved your SCS so that the MAV page is your sensor of interest?
Second thought is have you given the seeker head cool down time - normally around 3 minutes.
Finally, check the bindings on on your TDC - it may not be set correctly.
Hope this helps.

This is very helpful. Thank you.

Did they fixed wrong weight calculation on the Checklist page ?
Intuitively It does seem to be more "accurate" now, but I haven't conducted any tests at all.

Firstly congrats - this is the hardest thing to do in DCS.
I fly with it both on and off depending on my mood. My philosophy is that it's your simulator so you should fly it anyway you like.
Poopskadoop described how I do it as well. Pod as your reference point and continual micro adjustments with the throttle. once you're connected keep watching that pod and try to stay behind it.
I normally bring up the fuel page on one of the DDIs. Much easier to keep track of your quantity rather than looking down at the IFEI. I think it takes around 3 minutes to get a full load if you don't have external tanks. Mind you, it's a very long 3 minutes.

Related Question: Do you ever train for single engine recoveries? (e.g. simulator). Thanks in advance.

I haven't come across this problem either. Perhaps try downloading another tanker mission (or create your own in ME) and see what happens. I've had no problems so far.

You don't take stuff that you expect to bring back. RL aircraft, naval aviation specifically, does not go fully loaded all times. They carry what they realistically can use in a mission and surely will take a Sidewinder and maybe an AMRAAM if there is a need for it.
Reading various articles or listening to pilot interviews (I recommend Fighter Pilot Podcast) they often talk about a standard loadout for the mission per given deployment.
For example, they won't take any AAMs if there is no threat or if there is CAP present. For CAS missions they will often carry just two JDAMs and a Maverick perhaps.
RL loadout is nothing like DCS loadout because there is also a cost factor and availability amongst others.
Given the short legs of the Legacy Hornet, taking only what you need helps with fuel burn as well. Though I remember Jello saying that on some missions they'd go to the tanker 4 times!

Very useful thread. Thank you.
Anyone suggest me good Campaign/Missions?

Have a look at Through the Inferno, Operation Clear Field and Operation Snowfox.
Very immersive, plenty of action and it never plays the same way twice.
Enjoy!
