  1. Right now on the E-Shop page the Supercarrier DLC is $40 (an early-access price), however when launching a game and using in-game shop I've noticed that it costs $30? Is the extra discount due to me owning an F/A-18C - or so I've heard - and why doesn't it show up on the E-Shop's page even though I'm logged in? But the most important question - since I'm a Steam DCS player and installed a standalone version temporarily just to test out Heatblur's offerings - does the same Hornet discount (if I'm correct about it) somehow apply to Supercarrier there?
  2. I have no problem temporarily converting Steam DCS installation to standalone to try modules out - but what I really want to know (as a Steam DCS player) - will the discount be available on summer sale on Steam next week? I'd rather not mix the two versions and have my eggs in a single basket so to speak - if I'll like F14 (and I have a STRONG impression I will)
  3. wow thanks. AIM120s actually started hitting things.
  4. Seeing as how it takes so long for ED to fix BVR missiles I'm wandering is there a mod that at least increases the missile range to realistic values? For example right now AIM120C Rmax seems to be at a point where for a real missile it should be a no-escape zone - and no-escape zone in DCS is moments away from AIM9X/R73 range :/
  5. Happy to say that after learning how to fly on-speed AOA (which is actually quite easy, while the tutorial made it seem somehow overly complicated) I now manage to land on a carrier during the crosswind with a full load. This video basically made a night and day difference for me
  6. What it says on the tin. So yeah?
  7. Second try, just to make sure the first one wasn't just pure luck: came in from an absolutely horrible approach (the first one was perfect compared), at some point thought I will crash into the carrier... pulled throttle forward a bit at the last moment, while aiming in between the end of the deck and the furthest wire - success! And again grabbed onto the very first wire. That's 2 out of 2. (EDIT: 4 out of 4, woah) Thanks for advice and videos guys, looks like it's not as hard as it looks after all. Will keep on practicing!
  8. As recommended - launched the Instant Action landing and only noticed that I'm coming at an incorrect angle like only a mile away from the carrier (those 10 degrees), so had to quickly readjust the direction and went on a straight approach only a few seconds away from the deck. Aimed the FPM in between the furthest wire and the end of the deck (as was recommended above), while staying barely within E and...
  9. Eh I been playing the series since Flanker 2.5 and went through several A-10C campaigns till this point (not to mention more "casual" FC3), also was playing Falcon 4 / BMS for years so, eh, I got patience to learn. It's that in the case of a training mission having to start over and listening to the guy asking you to set comms, directions and hit spacebar again and again kinda takes time that I'd rather spend practicing that hardest bit. I was just wondering if carrier landings have SOME shortcuts or do they indeed require THAT precise/by-the-book of approach - because with enough skill with airfields you can do whatever kind of twisted landing you want. With carrier landings it seems that you need to touch the wire in a very specific way for the hook to get grabbed. And it's what always has been the toughest thing for me in any game, way since that Super Hornet sim from 1999.
  10. Thanks for the advice guys. Here's one of the tracks, it's not perfect by far but I'm landing within the E bracket more or less and on top of the wires - still missing landing2.trk
  11. The hook doesn't hit the wires every time. In the example on the screenshot I've missed only the very first wire but the hook simply clipped through the next three. Am I missing something? Or do you need like superprecise approach and angle to grab onto them? I know there's a tutorial mission but it's rather needlessly complicated and since I'm having trouble with the very final bit of it (landing) - restarting it and spending 10 minutes every time to just repeat the final approach is kinda time consuming
