  1. I’m just getting started so I only have the A10C II. So I’m not too worried about an Apache update. It just irritates me that each time I start Voice Attack, it offers the update that won’t complete. It’s interesting that when I look at the Viacom Pro folder, the .dll file when I do the manual install is dated much newer than the file that gets installed during the automatic update process. Hopefully, Hollywood will see our posts and look into it.
  2. Im getting the same thing from a totally new install. I also tried a manual install as Subcidal did. Any idea why we can't download the update?
  3. The anti- collision are the strobe lights. The position lights can be set to flashing or steady. The formation lights are used for night flights when flying in formation. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Glad to hear it worked out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. In the Logitech Saitek Software, I left clicked on the arrow in the upper right corner of the box for "Rotary 1" and selected "Bands". Three band boxes opened up (0-33%, 33-67%,67-100%). In the first band, I entered the commands " LShift" and "B" and labled it "Airbrakes Closed". For the third band, I entered the commands "RCTRL" and "B", labled it "Airbrakes Open", and then Saved. When I first tried it in the game, I didn't think it worked. Make sure the profile is loaded. Even loaded, it didn't appear to work but I forgot how "modeled" the A10C is. The engines have to be running to get the hydraulic power necessary to make the airbrakes work. Once I did that, everything works!

  7. I think I've got the Saitek (Logitech) SST programming completed based on Strongharms' profile, The one question on the profile that remains is the following: 1. The "wheel mouse button" on the back of the throttle handle has 3 "Red" (Mode 1) commands assigned to it: "Nose Steer"/LASE/AR Disconnect". I found the "Nose Steer" command and assigned it to Mode 1. The others I couldn't find and I'm not sure how I would assign them to the same Mode if I did. Are they already there depending whether the aircraft is airborne or not? Looking through the Default Key Commands, I've found the following commands: Emergency Disconnect Lever = LAlt+E HOTAS Nosewheel Steering = Insert I can't find anything for Strongharms' control labled LASE. He also seems to have assigned them to the same Mode. I'm thinking they reference Aerial Refueling Disconnect, Nosewheel Steering Toggle, and some sort of Laser command? Can anyone help me out here? Lantz
  8. Strongharm, I've working on getting set up with your profile for what seems like weeks now. Lots of other chores got in the way. I had to tackle learning how to use the Saitek SST software and also how to import your profile into the X52 (not Pro). As of now, I have been mostly successful in both of these tasks as well as assigning the 6 tasks in the DCS Controls Options. I do have a few questions on your diagram above. 1. On the throttle, the "Fire E" button is labeled "LAAP Engage/Disengage" on one view and "Toggle Autopilot" in the other view. These are really the same commands, aren't they? 2. 3. I'm at a loss on how to assign VHF1, VHF2, and UHF Transmit commands to the Throttle Thumb Stick. Could you lead me through the SST software procedure for that? Is there a way to turn the stick into a 4 way button like the POV hats are? 4. Now that I have all these very numerous commands programmed, what is the best way to learn them? Thanks in advance, Lantz
  9. Follow On: At the end of the Monitor.lua file, UIMainView = GUI messed up my display. Only a portion of it was displaying on the upper right monitor. I changed the line back to UIMainView=Viewports.Center Could someone explain what the UIMainView is?
  10. I think I’ve gained an understanding of my multiple monitor setup and how to modify/create my own monitor.lua file. I basically have 4 different monitors built into a home cockpit setup that I’ve used for years with P3D. I have arranged the monitors in Windows so that 2 - 1920x1080 are side by side on top. Underneath these monitors, I have a 1680x1050 on the left and a 1280x1024 on the right. In DCS, this gives me a useful display resolution of 2960x2130. A portion of the upper right monitor (880x1080) cannot be used by DCS. I have scripted my monitor.lua file so that the “Center” display fills the upper left 1920x1080 monitor. I’ve created a viewport for the LEFT_MFCD at x = 0 and y = 2130-900, figuring the MFCD is 900x900. Similarly, I’ve created a viewport for the RIGHT_MFCD at x = 2960-900 and y= 2130-900. These export the MFCD’s to the lower left and lower right monitors respective. I’ve added a viewport for the GUI at x=1920 and y=0 which will place it in the DCS controlled area of the upper right monitor at a size of 1040x1080. I ended the monitor.lua file with the statement “UIMainView = GUI”. Is this correct for what I’m doing? Since I still have space on the 2 lower monitors, I would like to create viewports for other gauges. I found Icemakers post on “[How To] Export ALL Indicators Like MFCD via Viewports” but couldn’t quite grasp the technique. It appears I would need the name of the viewport but also add code to export it? In other words, more has to be done than creating a viewport entry in the monitor.lua file? Any help woul be appreciated. Lantz
  11. I haven’t created a Discord Acct yet. I’ll look into it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere but I couldn’t find it by searching this thread. I was looking for a “Help” file or manual that would help me learn how to use the interface of the DCS GUI Utility. There is an entry in one of the file menus but it seems to take me to the earlier CMD line format, at least none of the pictures seem to address the GUI Utility. I know many of you have followed this since it was created but I could use something to train me how to use it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I’m a bit confused. Should I be starting with DCS 2.5 or DCS 2.5 Beta? I understand the Beta version might be buggy but is there something in the stable version that will affect my learning and using the A10C? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. New to DCS, Need Help with Saitek X52 for A10C Thanks StrongHarm, VR is a future possibility. I want to learn and practice the A10C aircraft so that I can eventually qualify to join one of the realistic Virtual Squadrons. Having done so in GA aircraft in the VATSIM world, I’ve come to love that type of immersion. VR would really take it to the next level but I believe I’ll need to see the controls and a “cheat sheet diagram” until I learn the different control actions. When I do, I will need to use reading glasses with the VR headset. Is this possible? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Many thanks for all the responses. I’m definitely going to try to use the Logitech software and give StrongHarms profile a try. I’ve spent the last few days studying the lore of re-writing .lua monitor config files in order to adapt the DCS A10C display in my 3 Monitor (all different sizes and resolutions) setup. I’ve had some success and hoped to have that in order shortly. All advice is much appreciated. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks, I found similar ideas in the forum. Will report on how it goes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I may give the Logitech software a try. I’ll try to find the Jack Bauer profile. As for Chuck’s A10C guide, I’ve been reading through it with great relish. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. I’ve put together a simulator station that I’ve used extensively in FSX and Prepar3D without issue. It contains one large central Samsung 40” flat screen TV (1920 x 1080) with 2 monitors (one 22”. (1680 x 1050) plus a 16” (1280 x 1024)) mounted beneath it to display an aircrafts instrument panel. In the two programs above, I created multiple views in separate windows and dragged them to the appropriate screen. I also have a fourth monitor hooked up to the system (24” (1920 x 1080) I use to display support programs. I also have several Saitek Panels. Enter my wish to dive into the DCS World. I’ve downloaded DCS World 2.5. My first question is whether I should have downloaded DCS World 2.5 Beta instead? That aside, I went into “Options” to try to setup multiple monitors. In the Monitors category, the following choices are available: 1 Screen 3 Screen Camera + LMFCD (on right side) Camera + LMFCD Camera + LMFCD (automatic placement) Camera + RMFCD (on left side) Camera + RMFCD Camera + RMFCD (automatic placement) MFCD Stereo If I choose anything but 1 Screen, it displays either a partial window of the Options Window on my main display (Resolution of 1920 x 1080) or if I choose a higher resolution of 4880x 1080, it will display across two thirds of the main display and the top left1/4 of my 4th display. In reading through the forums, it appears that multiple monitor setups such as mine, require some advanced LUA writing, which I’ve never done. I would like to have the A10C cockpit view with TrackIR on the main display and the MFCD’s on the two lower displays. How do I create these views and move them to the proper screens? Could someone get me started? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. This will take time to absorb. Thanks for taking the time to lay it out for me. I’ll let you know how I make out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I'm brand new to DCS and want to start with the A10C. I've dusted off my Saitex X52 (not Pro) and have it installed with Windows 7 drivers. I haven't installed any Saitek software yet and I'm not sure I should. I've been searching through the DCS forums for profiles and diagrams of the A10C HOTAS setups. I've found many, going back several years. I've found many with the with the .pr0 extension, and some with several .lua extensions. I know that the recent release of DCS World of 2.5.1 is out and I'm not sure how many of the ones I've found will work. I plan to someday move on to the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS when funds allow so I'd like to model that as best I can with the X52. Can someone please: 1. Advise if I need to install the Saitek software for the X52? 2. Direct me to diagrams and a profile that is up-to-date for the X52? 3. Can I make all the necessary assignments for the X52 just using the DCS Software? Thanks in advance. Lantz :joystick:

  22. Do I need 32GB of Memory now? Yes, I’m aware that DCS World is free and the addons (A10C) cost $$. I’m just prepping my system so that I get the best presentation possible. My system is a follows: Intel CoreI-74790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0 GHz Gigabyte GTX 970 Video card with 4GB video memory Samsung 840 EVO SSD, 500 GB G-SKILL Trident X Series 8GB DDR3 2400 memory As my video card is below what is recommended, what problems will I have? 23. I’m considering joining the DCS A10C world. I haven’t downloaded the DCS software yet, but I have been following this thread to determine how much memory (I presently have 8GB) I need. Do those of you using version 2.5.1 (version with the memory fix) have a definitive answer yet? My system can handle up to 32 GB.
