  1. Hello, I'm a terrible fighter pilot. I was also bad at IL-2. When I dogfight 1v1, it seems like a matter of luck that I can get behind someone and get the splash. I don't really understand any tactics yet. I've tried a lot of youtube videos in BFM. I learned some interesting things like barrel rolls and s turns. I even watched a 40 minute video with a pilot in a jumpsuit and an 80's porn mustache. I understood what he was saying but I still can't really apply it. I would like to understand the tactics / strategy better. Any tips or suggested reading / watching for BFM / Dogfighting? Thanks!
  2. Got it. The little trash can will remove them permanently, and the slider will deactivate them, but keep them on your hard drive. Thanks again for the help...nice community for sure.
  3. Thanks for your replies. I do have two follow-up questions though: a) The three maps and three aircraft I own are only about 90 GB. Is it normal for the total DCD Folder size to be 136 GB. Seems like a lot? b) What if I want to remove the Persian Gulf Map. Someone has already indicated that deactivating them in Module Mgr won't remove them from my hard drive. How do I do that? Do I simply delete the folder that I don't want? In this case Persian Gulf?
  4. I recently reinstalled DCS. I didn't go for any of the free stuff because disk space is an issue with me. I looked in module manager and the only planes I have are F18, SU25, and Mustang. The maps I have are Caucus, Nevada, and Persian Gulf. My DCS folder is 136 GB. Is this normal? Is there a way to see how much disk space each module is using? Does deactivating the module in Module Manager save me space? Sorry for the noobness.
  5. I have the T-16,000
  6. thanks so much. That one worked.
  7. Thank you...But Left Control and Enter did not work. I'm using VR, but I don't think that should matter. Any other ways?
  8. I have two questions with the F18 so far. a) I can adjust the trim. but how do I know where it is currently set? I've seen vertical and horizontal lines intersecting on Youtube, but I can't seem to pull this up. b) My joystick feels ultra responsive, almost to the point where it is hard to control the plane. A slight movement on the stick seems to cause very large deviations in course. I may just need to get used to the controls, but what's the best way to make the stick less responsive / sensitive. I have curvature set to 25 at the moment. Thank you.
  9. I think I'm getting it now. thanks.
  10. If the BE is not used for anything, why is it there?
  11. Thanks for clearing up the difference between BVR and a dogfight. I thought it was all the same. Anyway, how would reading the manual give me the hands-on BVR practice I asked for?
  12. I like this DLC because I enjoy the dogfighting practice. This will give me many hours of fun. But what about BVR dogfights? I don't think this includes that because it is BFM. What's a good way to practice BVR? Do you guys make a BVR campaign for Aim-120's and long-range practice?
  13. I got my second kill, and was also able to recycle! I must have needed to get closer to the bullseye to get it to work. Thanks.
  14. This was a nice time saving tip--thanks!
  15. ok, i'll get used to it. Thank you.
  16. In Practice mission 1, I finally shot down my first opponent! Now they want me to fly back india and recycle. But when I fly back to india and hit the \ and then f10, there is no option for ready, so I can't start the second engagement: How do I start the second engagement? What is a mission success here? Shooting down all three practice f15's? Is there a way to get more bullets between opponents? Is there a way to adjust the difficulty? Sorry for all the questions. New to DCS and your product. So far so good!
  17. I prefer flying in Vegas because I can pronounce all the airports and I'm more interested in the area. This BFM pack is helping me learn dogfighting skills, but not really by teaching. It gives you the opportunity to learn and a little bit of guidance which is more than you'd have otherwise. I'm a new player, so I don't know much.
  18. I'm playing practice mission 1, and while the instructions are being explained to me, other planes are calling in their positions like shell and Texaco. I can't really understand anyone. Is there a way to toggle the chats, so I can hear one or the other but not both at the same time? Thank you.
  19. I'm trying to understand the difference between BVR and LRS modes in the F-15C. I believe that BVR is for anything beyond 10 miles. Practically speaking, I guess this would be used to launch a 120 in the hopes it goes pitbull and hits a target; like a hail mary? Can someone confirm this is what this mode is used for? Also, what would LRS be used for? Is this just the mode we get defaulted to when we choose RWS on the radar? I seem to understand boresight mode and vertical scan mode just fine. Thanks for this info.
  20. not even AI difficulty can be changed in the editor? I'm not going to be very good. By the way, what's the difference between doing the campaign vs doing the missions the way I described (through the editor)? Just faster to the fight one way compared to more of a simulation the other? I thought I was buying a campaign plus 11 missions. I now think the missions are the same as the campaign missions only starting in the air. Thanks for the f10 tip by the way.
  21. I'm confused with this product. I don't want to do the campaign. I just want to do the practice missions to work on my BFM tactics since I can start from the air and get more practice that way. I used the mission editor to open practice mission 1, and then chose fly mission from ME. They want me to fly to a waypoint (india) and then make a "call ready" to begin combat. They say I can "call" anytime to terminate combat if I wish. I thought this call would be triggered by just following the waypoints since the F15 does not have a radio I can operate, but I've been flying through the waypoints all day at different altitudes trying to get the engagement to start. I keep being instructed to circle around waypoint india and "call ready" to begin the exercise. They say I can return to india any time and call ready for another engagement. Can someone please help me get started? I can operate the plane. I just don't understand how to get the dogfight to trigger. What call do I make? When I hit the "", there is no "ready" or "terminate", and this is the only radio comms I read about. This is my first mission, so I'm quite confused. Thanks in advance.
  22. Thanks for getting back to me. I just got home, and I loaded Mission 1 Practice in the mission editor. I think it wants me to fly to a bulls-eye on the map near a point named Rachel. Then it asks me to call in and say "ready" to begin my guns only dogfight How do I do that? Ready is not in my radio commands when I hit \. It also says I can call in and "terminate", but I don't know how to do that either. Where did I miss this?
  23. I just purchased this, and it is my first DLC purchase for DCS. In the description for this product, it says that there are missions and a campaign. But the only content I see for this DLC is in the campaign menu of DCS. I don't see anything for this product in the missions or in fast action menus like I was expecting. Can someone explain this?
