  1. Landing has been kicking my butt real bad this past week or so since I decided to hop back in it after a while. I thought maybe I was just out of practice and had some bad habits sticking with me, but perhaps that's not the whole story after all? Taking off has been a bit of a pain but doable, then again I wasn't really that great at consistently getting a pretty takeoff run so I welcome any takeoff that leaves me flying at the end of it. I have low standards there. Maneuvering in the air seems to be the same as I remember it. A complete pain in the butt and extremely temperamental. Not sure if it's worse now than before.
  2. What's different between the HERO and the FORMULA? I've got the HERO and I simply followed the manual settings in derbauer's youtube video for the 8700. Works like a dream and I'm on air. But I did also use his delid kit and conductonaut. He also lightly explains what he's changing and why, so you do get a little context. I stuck with the settings from his video and haven't tried reducing the voltage or getting any more speed out of it as I'm happy with where it's at. I don't know how much more it has to offer, but I'm running 5.0 without any trouble, and it stays plenty cool. Delid was ez-pz; I taped off around the area where the die contacts the heat sink and only applied the paste there, like I saw in a different delid video. Here's der8auer's video, but I'm not sure what varies between the formula and hero exactly, it may just be semantics in the context of overclocking but I haven't looked into it so I don't know:
  3. Negative, have not. It wouldn't work anyway as the main draw to the G13 was the joystick in combination with being able to so easily use other keys with that hand simultaneously. Plus I have severe carpal and cubital tunnel and the other devices are much less comfortable to use than the G13, but that might also be just because I've become so used to it and have established a good way to use it without irritating those issues. That plus a Naga or G600 in the other hand made for a nice combo for what I use them for, MMO and FPS. When I first saw the title, I thought this was going to be about an actual mouse who got into somebody's stash....
  4. The G13 is going through some similar stuff right now, except arguably it has no successors/replacements/possibilities as "like" or "suitable" as the G700 has. And yeah I know it's a membrane device and isn't really all that incredible as far as hardware goes, but for MMOs, it has been by far the most useful input device I've used, and the competitors/alternatives are completely subpar in comparison IMO. https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G13-Programmable-Gameboard-Display/dp/B001NEK2GE https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126050 Completely baffled as to why Logitech hasn't made a suitable successor. Hell they could just reuse the frame and put some upgraded hardware in it and sell a whole bunch.... Now I have to be super careful not to spill any more beer on mine. It has had a rough life since 2008 but has kept trucking... joystick is chipped on its had, it's had many many beers, survived many moves, rage incidents, etc....
  5. You think the crayons could have survived to the end of the study...? Om nom nom, no way.
  6. If you’re a non audiophile like me, I’ve got a Logitech G35 that has been great and when fully extended on the left side, the track clip pro fits perfectly on the exposed metal band part. It’s pretty convenient. And they’ve held up way better than the gaming headsets I’ve had in the past, which were plasticky and broke quickly. I’ve had a couple sets of TBs, can’t remember which exactly, but they broke pretty easy and felt flimsy. I haven’t checked to see if the G35 is still available or if it’s got a successor or what else works better, but the only problem I’ve had with mine is that the vinyl covering for the padding around the ears is tearing away a bit. It’s more of an annoyance than anything else but easily ignored because the foam padding is still intact. I think I’ve had them for 8 years now? Not sure but it’s been forever it seems and they just work.
