  1. when i refer to the stick, i mean just the joystick itself, not any extension
  2. thanks for your thoughts guys, seems like this removing screws is a non issue for me
  3. Hi Guys received my new warbrd base, now to attach Thtustmaster warthog stick instructions say to remove the 2 screws holding warbrd connector onto warbrd base (female connector) the picture on the virpil site shows the connector sitting on top of the base (see pic in post). the base i got however must be the next version as the connector housing does not sit on top, only the round connector section appears through a hole in the base. if i undo the holding screws then the connector may just fall into the housing below. what do i do here? btw, the "screws" are actually very small hex keys, which i dont have, so now a trip to the hardware shop
  4. need to replace TM base, even with lighter spring and stripping TM base down to sand and grease, its still too firm. now i have to replace it, i cant believe there is so much hype around about TM being so great, it has cost me dearly and wasted so much time, is there some sort of mass hypnosis going on here or something?
  5. any thoughts on these areas? there are so may great battles that could be fought here, battle of midway, list goes on. i appreciate accusations of racism can be heightened in this area of the world though, so maybe thats why it isnt considered and what about MIG ally?
  6. Hi Guys, hopefully someone can assist with my query. i bought the F5 so i could go through the ACM tutorials, i thought it would be a good learning experience. With all my other aircraft i can just hop in and fly virtually straight away, with the F5 i have to do weight calculations and trim settings before i take off otherwise the plane is difficult to control. if i am just doing the tutorials, is there a default set of setting i can use? for the purpose of the tutorials i wont need a weapons loadout, i just want to learn the manoeuvres, generally i am very time poor, so i prefer not to have to dedicate the time to learning all this stuff, after going through these tutorials i wont use the F5 again, so i dont want to put too much time into it TIA
  7. Hey guys, just got the f5 and it wants to pitch up all the time, have to hold joystick forward just to be able to level flight. i have taken all axis controls right back to absolute minimum but still cant stop it pitching up. any thoughts on how to fix this?
  8. dont have any platforms subscribed to, but happy to setup twitch or whatever is used.
  9. Hi Guys, i installed these 2, however the F22 i can only watch fly, but cant control it, and the SU57 wount start up, but does appear in the bottom row where an aircraft is selected. So has DCS disabled these? happy to persevere to get these working if they will work, but dont want to waste my time if it aint going to happen. TIA
  10. hey Lange, would you mind providing a link to where i can view the Cougar? thx
  11. wish i could see where u greased it if you didnt open it
  12. i am begging to think i need to go down the road of stripping down my thrust-master and sand the gimble and regrease it to get the smoothness i want. virpil has not answered my sales inquiry, and i see a couple of people have mentioned that winwing have gone radio silence on them. that sort of stuff freaks me out as these toys are not cheap. for me, when i hit radio silence it usually means i am somewhere iam not supposed to be
  13. hi guys, i am just wanting to know what Winwing can offer and what the user experience is, as you probably know the warthog joystick base suffers from massive sticktion. need something silky smooth. can you narrate your experience please of using the winwing joystick? can i put the warthog stick on it, or do i need to get the complete unit, any problems with the winwing i should be aware of?
  14. thanks crash, thats the sort of thing i need to hear, when we first start dcs we try to make informed decisions so as not to waste money, but experience over time can usually have us heading in a different direction. had i had my time over again i think i would have got different hardware, anyhow, as long as i can keep wastage to a minimum .. thanks for your comments
  15. hi guys, iam wanting to replace my thrustmaster warthog joystick base as its just too clunky, looking for something super smooth, have read some good reviews on virpil base. Would like to do a last minite fact check from virpil users to confirm a few details first what is your satisfaction rating as far as smoothness is concerned? i believe the tension adjustable - does that work well? do i have to use virpil software if i plant the warthog stick on it? - would prefer to just use the dcs software for assignments. any problems i should be aware of? TIA
  16. Hi Guys, i know there is a recommended approach to setting curvature but that doesnt seem to work for me, i find this better. does require a very smooth joystick though and mine is a little stiff (being remedied) i wont be able to fine tune this more until i can get my joystick a bit more freed up, so it may change a bit later. if you have made a custom tune, please put it up. This is for the F16 roll axis

  17. i like this option, i dont use thrustmaster software, articles i read said to just use dcs programming. have you tried using just dcs interface without thrustmaster software?, if so what was your experience?
  18. thanks for that Rob, can you tell me a bit more about the virpil option? how does it work? i have more money than brains sometimes so i wouldnt count anything out at this stage.
  19. Hey guys, i want to make my joystick lighter to throw around. Removing the main spring altogether seems like going too far is it doesnt always return to centre position. greasing it up seems to get mixed results. anyone done anything like this?, can you share your outcome and how you did it? dont want to use an extension.
  20. you have to take your hand off the throttle control for this, that works ok for you?
  21. interesting, def prefer a button on hotas as opposed to keyboard. the pinky button is a straight depress button. so when you press that it zooms in, when you let go does it zoom out? - or how does it zoom out?
  22. yes, using trackIR
  23. Hi Guys, hope you all well. just wondering what you use for zoom, i understand different people use different assignments, so all comments welcome. i am beginning to wonder if i bought the right hotas, as i cant seem to get comfortable with the zoom. to me seems the x56 has the best zoom in the form of a wheel on the thrust handle
