  1. Hi guys

I've been flying VR in DCS since 2016. I took a break from DCS for a few months and just got back in.

I swore I wasn't going to tinker with settings, but I did... again. I used to run my G2 Reverb with a stable framerate 40-60. Now apparently I have managed to ruin this state of bliss (again). I still have high enough framerates, still 40-60, but now I have intermittent 'black-outs'. I presume the sim is loading something.. I started on the Gamblers campaign and in the first mission as we approached Syria things were pretty bad, lots of black-outs.

What do you think think is going on? Which setting would be responsible for this?

    My system

    i12900K, GTX 3080Ti, 32 GB RAM.

Check your flight frequency in the briefing and ensure you're using the right radio. The AI only use the group default radio, which is quite often the UHF radio at 225MHz.

Thank you ! That was the problem. I just needed to move the frequency selector. Read the manuel, eh... 🙂

  3. Ok so I figured out that it is a positional problem. If I reset the position from Steam VR, the gray area disappears and DCs is visible once again. But the position is invariably 2 meters too high above the cockpit. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to adjust it. I've played DCS VR since 2016 and never had this problem. When I exit DCS, the floor in the Steam landscape is a eye height. Any tips would be very appreciated.

  4. Hi Reflected - I just thought I should say how impressed I was with your work. The best campaign I've played in DCS in a loong time. The postcards, music etc, very creative stuff. The 1969 vibe was strong and good.

I'd like to also give a thumbs up to @Wolfpack - you're a good voice actor as were all the others 🙂

PS. I played the whole thing in VR.

  5. Thanks for the work you guys have been doing on this. It has really made a difference to my VR performance across the board. Except for the Apache: all other modules perform 50+ FPS on my machine, but the Apache, with the same settings, can barely get over 15 FPS. Is this just teething problems for the new module or what do you guys think?

Edit: I turned down the render scale and that did the trick.

In so far as any story that involves intentional and wholesale destruction and killing (anything involving war) can be called 'rosy', perhaps. I believe we all know that war is hell, and should be avoided. Was that counterpoint really that necessary? I grew up in post-war Hamburg (that to this day has reminders of Operation Gomorrah which left some 180000 wounded and 37000 dead within a few days). I presume most people here are either equally reminded daily of those horrors, or know well enough to differentiate between an infotainment narration, and a documentation of harsh reality: this is a gaming forum.

We are playing a game that - yes - revolves around a difficult, murderous and brutal theme: war. Do we really need to be made feeling guilty about that? Is it too much to ask to let those ghosts rest - if only in these gaming forums?

    Please?

Yes, fair enough, I guess my post was inappropriate in the context here.

If we stay within context of this game, however, we can agree that perhaps the Mosquito was not exactly the precision instrument the post makes it out to be 🙂

Just wanted to show my appreciation for another interesting Sunday Supplement. These are so well done and provide wonderful background information which ignites the imagination each time one fires up a DCS aircraft.

Great job! Thank you and please keep 'em coming.

Yes it is very well written and interesting. It paints a rosy picture.

In March 1945, Mosquitoes were tasked to bomb the Gestapo HQ in Copenhagen. A Mosquito hit a telephone pole on the way in and crashed between a teater and a school. This prompted the rest of the flight to drop their bombs on the smoking wreck.

86 schoolchildren and 18 adults were killed by the bombs and the school was totally destroyed. All in all 250 people were killed that day almost all civilians. 900 families lost their homes.

Some of the planes managed to hit the target although they inadvertently killed 8 resistance fighters who were being kept in the building by the Germans.

  8. There is quite a lot of different things not working for you it seems.. the wingman AI is dumb, try to give him the order before you engage, works most of the times for me. No idea about the radio. As for the F5, perhaps it crashed before it could attack (again, stupid AI)? Looks to me like an extremely unlucky try...

Thanks. I'll try again:) The campaign feels great as usual with your creations l:)
