BlackShark necessary to run later DCS modules?
zauii89 replied to Squid's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
So let me get this straight, Each new module will be compatible with each other, say for example that you only wish to buy the A10 version of the DCS series you'll still be able to fly with other modules but not fly them yourself unless you own them. Something similar to how Company of Heroes did with it's expansion Opposing Fronts. So for people that tends to stay with the KA50 , i guess will still have to download the A10 content whenever it's released , even if they havn't bought it , so they will be compatible with each other via internet and lan play. -
Trimming :music_whistling: I was mostly looking for some Intel regarding trimming , i mean for a helicopter it is essential even more than for an airplane but is it suppose to be such a struggle or am i learning it the wrong way. I've learned a lot of important stuff the past week regarding the ka50 and the only thing that's really hard at the moment for me is trimming, is it supposed to be such a struggle? (I've only been flying flight sims so got no real heli experience) Even with say autohover, alt hold, pitch hld etc on it's sometimes just a real struggle to get the helicopter to face the angle you want or to stay still in the air. Particiluarly i've problems with landing after a mission, sure i've yet not spent too much time with the landing tutorial but at the moment i am trying to be in control of the aircraft instead of the aircraft having control over me. Are there any special tips or such? At the moment if this was in real life and i had to land i'd be terrifyed with the the little experience i have at the moment, it just feels like i am not in control, the gunship is drifting off way to often to angles n heights i don't agree with. // zauii

Hi  I've to say that when i first heard about DCS being in the works about a year ago i was a bit skeptic and eventually lost track of it due to many other games, but being a simulator fan of both modern and ww2 (IL2) i noticed as soon as it was released. Took a chance and bought this and it's the most incredible buy I've done in a long time , it's such an awesome experience and the amount of detail and realism is crazy :) I've never seen anything like it. So i just want to thank the developers and all people involved in the production for this fantastic new franchise and hope that it will live long :D I can imagine it will be pretty amazing as more flyables grow into the series and multiplayer evolves from coop til a massive head on experience as well. :) While on the subject i'd like to ask how long it will be until we'll see the A10A and Apache in DCS? I've seen the faq were it says they're already in development, question is when was the Faq written :). 9 months intervals i recall hearing somewhere, does that count from the release of black shark or the release of the first addon :)? Anyway just wanted to thank Eagle Dynamics really , :smilewink:

Startup procedure while flying missions
zauii89 replied to zauii89's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
thanks -
Hi, I am just gonna begin doing real missions etc since i feel i am ready, but every time i boost up a mission or campaign it seems to be starting the helicopter with the engines already running. I would like to do the whole startup myself , is there a way?

Zup, Sometimes when i am flying around and doing stuff the screen seems to go into a standby mode much similar to a screen saver , but it's still visual just that it's more black and harder to see. How to i get the shakval screen to brighten/lighten up again? (maybe its just me touching some light switch button by mistake)

I'd like to see the ability to go into the options and access everything from controls to graphical stuff, it's very frustrating to not be able to do any of this while in-game, especially the controls since we who bought the "online" version don't have the manual on paper. Something i really missed in lockon , and to be honest i don't understand the design decision to exclude options while you're in game, just seems abit stupid :)

Thanks mate :)

When attempting to set the collective pitch controls to my Saitek Evo Joystick nothing happens, and i can't adjust the Axis ingame. The joystick works fine both in windows and the game for movement and shooting but i am trying to set the collective pitch(altitude throttle) to my throttle on the joystick. Nothing happens :S Would i need to run some kind of setup or something so that the game can recongnise my throttle or is there anything in game that i've missed?

Zup, Is there a way to access the control scheme / menu from in-game, i found this very irritating in lockon were you couldn't pause and go into the menu and check the controls. Also, you know when you're clicking around the cockpit with the mouse and the head/camera follows the mouse, if you change camera angle and go back inside again it seems to have lost the head tracking of the mouse. How do i turn that back on? Appericate any answers a lot, // zauii

Hi there, First of all thanks for an awesome flight sim, can't wait until we get more aircrafts and a whole universe full DCS aircrafts :). Anyway Ive just spend about 2 days on the startup procedure and i am starting to learn everything, however when I've finished the whole procedure and got the engines running etc and try to take off the rotors seems to bend upwards and i start to loose power? Any idea what i am doing wrong? , // zauii
