Teamspeak has been successfully set up! :D I`ve also made a mission with nice weather, some static targets, an aircraft carrier, and some ground traffic. Some helis will start cold, but you will also have the option to start in the air. I`ll list it so it shows up when you browse for games in the BS multiplayer client. TS details will be in the game description. For those not familiar/that don`t have Teamspeak, go to http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads , download the latest client (first link), and install it. To use, just enter the IP provided (in game) into quick connect and your good to go. You can also set up a push to talk button in the software`s options. Alternatively, to talk via text in BS multiplayer, press the ~ key. Hope it all works. See you then.

Awesome, look forward to seeing everyone later. Hannibal, I have MSN on my computer, but only use it once in a blue moon. I`m not certain about teamspeak, but I could attempt to host it as well. I`m not too familiar with the program (just got it), and not sure if it migth effect performance while also hosting the game. If anyone more familiar could do it, that would be great. If not, I`ll give it a shot. Post and let me know.

I'm in for an official noob pilot online gathering today :D. Eastern TZ here also. I still suck, but I've got startup, weapon systems, and reasonably controlled flight/landing down, and could perhaps offer a little assistance to those who need it. How about this afternoon at 6pm eastern (3pm pacific). I'll could try and setup a no threat mission with a few static targets, perhaps a couple of boats to practice landing, etc. If you have a mic, Teamspeak might be worth checking out. Flying and typing can be a pain!

Turn on the generators on the right electrical panel, near the battery switches. Edit: NM, looks like you already did

black shark cockpit pan viewing using the mouse:
VikVaughan replied to 87thbatman's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Glad to help :). If the mouse is set to control your view, you can turn knobs by left-clicking and holding, then move the mouse up and down. I`m not sure unfortunately. Heres an easy solution though ;) -
black shark cockpit pan viewing using the mouse:

Press and hold center mouse button then move the mouse around to pan. -
Nice work RCN :) My only feedback is that it looks like a standard camouflage that has been pixelated/mosaiced, with lots of gradation between the colors, instead of a typical DC pattern. Most/all DC, including cadpat and marpat use block color with no intermediate blending, to create the contrast needed in an effective pattern while concurrently eliminating hard edges within the pattern at a distance. I`ve been trying to make something similar for myself ( http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=607076&postcount=498 ), but am still working on getting the look right. I look forward to seeing more! A more woodlandized version of this would be fantastic.

Rotor sounds from "Edge" and "Project 50"

Fantastic! -
I was cleared to land last night and was greeted with a surprise just forward of the threshold. Same thing has happened a few times before, but I got a go-around on the radio those times. Just treat the runway as uncontrolled, or avoid it all together.

Thanks Jurinko :). I'm not quite happy with it yet. I want to make it more accurate and well defined, and a couple other things. When I am, and when I learn how to add new skins without replacing an existing one, I'd be glad to share. Perhaps in a couple of different color sets.

Success!

DCS: Black Shark User Screenshots Dedicated Thread
VikVaughan replied to Teknetinium's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Here is my attempt at digital camouflage. Its based on the airborne version of Hyperstealth's 3-color Digital Thunder fractal camouflage that has been adopted by the Jordan and Slovakian military. I tried to make a slightly less coarse version, as the resolution of the fractal units varies with the expected visual engagement range of the object. The real stuff on a Mig-29: http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/hyperstealths-fractal-camo-patterns-successfully-tested-for-aircraft-01716/ http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/Digital-Thunder-Camo-for-Slovakias-MiG-29s-04814/ My attempt: -
On a more serious attempt, a half complete coat of fractal camouflage. Inspiration - Mig 29: Result - Ka 50:

It was Death Valley if I'm not mistaken.

The truck? No, I just used one of the existing missions that was already set up.

I was browsing the internet reading up on the Ka-50 (theres some interesting info out there) and came across a real photo of its cockpit. I noticed that in this particular model, there appears to be no MMS display, and the backup ADI and Ekran are in a different place. I was curious if anyone had a good knowledge of the different variants and which one this would be, and the differences between them. Interestingly, there is also a version (don't have a picture) with an all glass/digital cockpit. Go figure!

Indeed it does, the water also splashes on impact (albeit graphically unimpressive).

I think, instead, they should patch in FAC, or communication abilities that provide current information on the active battlefield and friendly positions, or a system of equivalent functionality to help pilots identify targets. Nobody blindly fires at targets in real life without positive identification, even if they know there 'should' be enemy in the area. Relying on the direction a vehicle is facing, or a trick using your wingman, or labels, is just not up to it. This is just straying into "video game" territory. I'm having a hard time absorbing the fact that no such functionality was designed into the software in the first place. This should have been basic. A glaring oversight IMO. My appologies if anyone takes my criticism negatively.

I think Black Shark broke my computer...
VikVaughan replied to VikVaughan's topic in Bugs and Problems
Sweet, I think that may be it. I recently installed ATI Tray Tools to quickly switch profiles. I tried removing it, and then attempting to reinstall the card's drivers (v8.12) and ATI's CCC control panel. However now I have another problem. The display driver is installed without issue, but then then it bails out when trying to install CCC. I don't have a way to change AA and such now :(. So I tried again. I went through a whole procedure I found for manually removing it, including registry entries and remenant files. Then I tried reinstalling again. The install went fine with no error this time, but, CCC just wont open when you try to use it. It apparently installed, but I can not run it for some reason. So... I installed Tray Tools again to get that functionality back, and then not to long afterward... bluescreen of death. Back to square one, haha. Help! -
