  1. I fly Lear 35's and 55's (and Lear 28 ). No military flying. But when coming home with no passengers I will fly a left overhead "tactical" approach on rare occasions. 250knots over the numbers at 800 feet 60 degree bank left. You'd be surprised how close you can keep it to the runway (yes, I know 200 knot limit in class c airspace, but tower gives permission to keep the speed up). Its fun, and I know the tower likes watching it! This partially fills the part of me that wanted to fly in the military :)
  2. "Walking the throttles" makes finer adjustments to engine power easier. By twisting your wrist a slight bit you can move each throttle a more finite amount than if you push (or pull) both throttles at once.
  3. Ah, yes. The magic "a" button. I know what you mean.
  4. Well, I don't feel spoiled from what I get in "other" sims. The learjet I fly, built in 1976, has a nav mode. And the Gulfstream IIB from 1968 I flew had it also. So, I guess I just assumed an upgraded A10 would have it. But, you are correct....I guess we are all spoiled by those functions. Like I said, they probably don't have it in there so the pilot has to keep his attention as to where he is going. You know, like when that Northwest Crew (I think it was Northwest) flew an hour past Minneapolis because they were "involved" in discussion about the company:doh: (and by "discussion", I mean sleeping :megalol:)
  5. Ok. Thats what I figured since there was no switch. Seems odd though, as a "nav" function and even altitude pre-select would not be incorporated into the aircraft. I suppose it keeps the pilot paying attention a bit more. Thanks for the response.
  6. I am just curious to know...is there no nav mode for the autopilot (so it can track gps waypoints, courses or an ILS)? i dont see it on the autopilot switch panel, so I am assuming it does not have that function. Which, if true, is strange why there wouldn't be a mode to let the autopilot track your flight plan or fly direct to waypoints? Can anyone shed some light on this subject? Thanks.
  7. Cockpit not clickable, no training voice I have seen a couple people post this kind of problem. I hadn't seen this answer yet so: I had this problem at first but realised I had to press the "pause/break" button more than once. After pressing it the first time the message goes away, but I think the sim is still paused. After pressing it once (or twice) more, the training voice and clickable cockpit should work.
  8. Nice! This was exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. Can't wait to get it up and running!
  9. I am curious as to what stands out for people flying this sim. Including improvements and upgrades compared to BS. Or just general things that are may be impressive (like firing the Gat!). I thought it would be nice to start a thread that contained all positive things, so ED can get some good feedback on their efforts.
  10. So, I started the download early this afternoon, and will have to wait until tomorrow before its downloaded. Since its the Beta version, I know people are going to report issues and bugs. But, while I, and others are waiting to get this awesome sim, I would like to ask the people using it.....What do they find good, great and or amazing?
  11. I believe that is there when you are playing in arcade mode.
  12. Levi, I also have had this problem with TIR getting jittery. I noticed it when I let DCSmax start TIR. Sometimes, but not always. Also, when it is jittery, F12 does not work to center view. Starting TIR outside of DCSmax seems to solve the problem.
  13. I have flown a Robinson 22 (piston helicopter)for about 50 hours and I flew an S76 (turbine helicopter) for a couple hours. In the R22, you move and manually hold the cyclic wherever you want it. However, when I got in the S76, I was all messed up because I would forget to depress and holdthe "Trim" switch on the Cyclic when I wanted to put a new control input in. The Stabilization system (a.k.a. the autopilot channels) did FIGHT me (with a good amount of force). I assume the KA50, although Russian, has a similar system. I feel the trim is modeled correctly in the KA50 with the only "non realistic" part being having to return my joystick to center (of course this has to be done this way for non FFB joysticks). But I dont have FFB, so I dont mind doing this. Anyway, If people have found easier ways to trim, great! But holding the trim button in to make control inputs would be the most realistic to me. BTW- I tried hovering the S-76 with the autopilot channels off....uuhh, not so nice, just like the KA50.
