Finally home and took a look at two of your Su-27 tracks (Flanker not even 9 G turn.trk and Flanker 56% fuel still 7.6 G max.trk). The issue in both was airspeed. Yours was too low for the altitude. At 2000m, you need to be up around 900 km/hr to generate enough Gs to even hit the limiter. I took control of your Flanker 56% fuel still 7.6 G max.trk and sat on 8Gs for awhile just to show that the limiter is there and will limit you to 8Gs at that gross weight. And, just for clarity, I did not use the override at any point.

Flanker with 56% fuel still  7.6 till 7.8 G without ACS or Override control stick limitation...the F-15 on the other hand can still pull 8.8G turns not long but it can

Seems a bit low, maybe. Without the override, the aircraft should be limited to 8Gs with a GW of 21,400 kg at an airspeed of M=0.85 or less.

F-15 was 100% fuel otherwise clean loadout...

FWIW, 5,220 kg of fuel (56% fuel load in the ME?) for the Su-27 is considered the basic internal fuel load. The remaining 44% would be going into external fuel tanks, if the Su-27 had been configured that way. So I’m thinking that the Flanker in your scenario had to be close to 100% fuel. That being the case, the F-15 should be carrying full external fuel tanks as well to see how it compares.

weight was round about 27.200kg with fuel and only missiles at the wing tips

Seems like a lot of weight for making 9 G turns. I’ve been there myself and the wings have never come off. But, then again, I almost never take off at or near max weight either. Out of curiosity, is your F-15 demonstration made with full or nearly full wing tanks?

I’ll be interested in viewing the TRKs, when I get back.

  5. The problem is that MBTs, at least, use a general lifeline instead of distinct damage areas. Hit one on the body or turret with a BLU-97B in a controlled experiment and their lifeline drops to around 80%. No more, no less. More hits might damage it more but due to the submunition spacing that’s extremely unlikely.

The other thing I noticed is that the submunition passes through the MBT and doesn’t explode until hitting the ground beneath it. Or, if after passing through the body at an angle, it hits the ground outside the body, the tank remains at 100%.

...you just need to run time backwards in your physics equations and they will work in reverse...

That's interesting. Didn't know you could do that. 🙂 Would certainly make flying missions easier. Start at the end and save a bunch of time.

  7. Functions such as rewind are, unfortunately, impossible in the current system. Essentially the current “replay” is simply the mission being flown again with your computer now controlling your aircraft based on how you handled it. It can’t be rewound any more than you can rewind a mission while you’re flying it.

It will take the development of a new recording system before some of our wishes can be realized.

so there is no easy way to do this...oh well

Pretty easy, though I’d do it to a copy of the file unless you can download the mission again in case things go awry. Open the mission with whatever you use to unzip a ZIP file. Find the music and delete it. Done. Start the mission and see if the problem is solved.

I d/l a mission which has a soundtrack but every time it starts to play I get an error window, so where is the music file located in the mission so I can try and get rid of it? tks!

The sound file will be in the mission file. MIZ files (and TRK files for that matter) are renamed ZIP files. Open it with WINZIP or something similar and look for the music file.

Looking to the size of the latest maps, Crimea can be aded to Caucasus as in the past.

    Why not?

I wish it would happen as well. I miss the Crimea map. The people who created that one clearly loved the area. So many of the sites around Sevastopol and the rest of that map were recreated with their distinctive structures, etc, unlike the cookie cutter buildings we have on the Caucasus map.

And, since this is a wish list, I wish it could be done again. Unfortunately, the chances of that are 0%.

  11. I’ve been trying to download the latest version of the mod using the link on the 1st page but without success. It keeps stalling failing before the download is complete. Neither browser will complete it and google drive doesn’t seem to have a useable link for my download manager. Any ideas?

Out of curiosity, should we take this to mean that it will not carry the ER variants of this missile?

As I read more and more about this new full fidelity Mig-29, it is becoming less likely I will spend any money to purchase it. Seems like a probable waste of money. I might be wrong but nothing I have read so far leads me to believe it will be much better than the FC3 version and will probably be just as useless.

The primary difference will be in the systems modelling. We will not be getting a more modern version of this MiG. So, if you consider the FV3 version not worth flying, this one won't be either.

The mission is bugged. There was an issue with the F-16 (?). There was something weird going on with it when I highlighted it. Anyway, I removed it and the SAMs launched. I had also coincidentally moved the two remaining aircraft further out. Not sure if that also had something to do with it but I doubt it.

Never mind. When I checked the mission, I didn’t realize there were multiple S-300 sites scattered around the periphery of the Caucasus map. I only saw the units in the Crimea. I thought those were the units I was watching in F8. It was another set of units.

It may just be that, in the simplified world of the DCS SAM environment, the 76N6 Clam Shell can’t stand on its own. For that matter, since it’s a specialized low altitude search radar, I doubt it’d ever be fielded on its own without a Tin Shield or similar search radar along.

No auto start because it’s really not needed.

RShift + L turns on electrical power to all systems.

RShift + Home starts both engines at once

    or, if you prefer,

RAlt + Home for left engine start

RCtrl + Home for right engine start.

I think one of the FC3 aircraft requires you to start one engine at a time. Not sure which because I always start them in sequence. Can’t check which because, at present, my computer is very broken.

  17. The first thing to do, when you’re experiencing something few others are, is to uninstall any mods you have, whether they are aircraft specific or not. If you’ve already done that, well…

The next thing would be to rename (not delete) your DCS folder in Saved Games so that DCS can create a new one in case there was something in there not mod related.

Also try doing a slow repair.

Anytime I’ve had issues, one of those solved the issue. In the case of the first two, you’ll then have to spend additional time experimenting to see which item is creating the problem. But at that point, at least  you know where to look.
