  1. I think the difficulty is in pleasing both casual and hardcore groups of users. IMHO casual users - with limited time and/or fast-action oriented - deserve to enjoy the flightsim just as much as hardcore users - with time in excess and/or fidelity oriented. However, one may ask how much you should allow to "hack" the fidelity for something that is inherently complex and time consuming. IMHO it is in the full fidelity (flying true to real life both systems and operational wise) where the real fun is! I think that current campaigns are already too much compromised and shifted towards casual users, where you experience action ONLY when you start the sim from TAKE-OFF. Consequently, users who choose RAMPSTART will find that they will miss out on most-to-all of the campaign action, for A-10C at least, and I'm talking relative quick and valid rampstart time here. I'd rather see casual users having to make even more selective choices (compromises in a way) in what they are really able to simulate/learn with limited time available, as a result of knowing how much there normally would be involved in simulating a system and operations for any particular mission, in favor of allowing easy-one-click, instant-take-off and 2-minute-ingress type of missions or any other hacks. And who knows, maybe the added challenge helps in discovering the fun of fidelity and right pressure to convince (the wife) to allow for more time. There is always time. And I know for a fact this creates better pilots!
  2. Thanks Yurgon. I think I'll switch to writing the 9-line brief with pen on a standard format 9-line, like they do in RL. After that it will be easy to enter the correct grid, without reset issue. Ofcourse many other people will suggest to wait for the datalink transfer, but what is the fun in that :P Cheers! Scub
  3. Thanks to all for your input!! Indeed I have come to the same conclusions. Now, I have the following issue: I like to write on-the-fly with the JTAC 9 line. I use a new WP for this. Now, for example purposes let's assume this new WP is originally set to 37T. During the 9 line readout I update the new WP with the coordinates from JTAC, let's assume KMxxxxxx. Now, once I update the new WP with the map sector to 38T, the new WP "sort of resets" and I loose all the previously entered coordinates. This appears not very logical and inconsistent for that matter. Is the CDU / WP page supposed to work like that when updating map sector?
  4. After reading some more through the forum, i understand now that you should just "know" that the border between map sectors 37T and 38T is running right next to Batumi / coastline. Meaning that for Georgian Hammer campaign you must adjust accordingly. Besides grid squares, does the mission editor also display map sector? Couldn't find that though...
  5. Hi mate, No I did not check that. JTAC does not give the map sector. How would you know the correct map sector with the coordinates of the JTAC? I assume that for mission logic all entities would be working from the same sector grid? (would be kind of annoying if the campaign is split by two or more sectors :S )
  6. Hello, Have something I need to check with you guys. In one of the earlier missions in Georgian Hammer, it appeared that one of the JTAC forwarded a specific coordinate in the 9-line, which - after entered in a new waypoint - resulted in a location with a distance of 300 mile (logically outside mission area). However, when the datalink point was received from that same 9-line and after manually checking the corresponding coordinates in the TGP, it turned out that these coordinates were consistent with the coordinates from the 9-line... thus pointing to the intended location. Have you guys experienced this? If yes, how come that the manual waypoint was placed incorrectly, while the datalink and TGP are pointing to the correct coordinates? p.s. I assure that there was no typing bias, I have entered the correct coordinates more than 3 times, including letters and digits, and verified the updated CDU WP info. Hope my explanation is ok. Edit: As it turns out, I have another example of the problem. In this video starting from 54:40, clearly the coordinates from the 9-line read "KM516450". First I update the numbers in the CDU waypoint. This results in a point with 16 miles distance. After updating the letters from GG to KM, this results in a point with 300+ miles distance (see HUD and HSI). Thanks! Scuby
  7. Tested in DCS 2.5.3 (2 januari 2019 ) Priority: Low Issue: In mission "Push 3-2", the briefing indicates that the player flight is named "Hawg1". However in 3D the player flight is named "Pontiac1". Fix: Either edit Hawg1 in the mission file or edit Pontiac1 in the briefing file. 8. Source, as per title:
  9. Completely agree. In any sim, for me it is fidelity and dept first. My specific attraction to the A10C is the proximity to surface action (CAS) and weapon versatility. This uniqueness complements nicely with other more fast/A2A/multirole/bvr/high altitude strike oriented sims and a/c.
  10. That 10/13% is a really nice find! So I understand it to be for all speeds... in that case, how would you enter the lower layers windspeed? (if original winds were low like 2 or 8 kts) Reduce those to 0 or 1?
  11. It did. On several occasions the atmo info entered was for weather at HP and not for TGT. Result was bomb impact was way way way off intended impact point. I think it is not realistic updating the atmo when above the TGT, I mean there is risk involved in trying to do that. Also, I think I found that setting LASTE WIND mode set to NONE does not work either! If so, perhaps best not to enter anything in LASTE WIND page ever, like you mentioned...
  12. Hi all, Is there any way in the CDU to clear the info message in the second top row of the mfd? I've got the info stuck one time (DTS DOWNLOAD FAILED) and was not able to clear this message. Due to message length it appeared to interfere with other pages and info in the 2nd row. Couldnt find it in the manual. Tnx for the help. Cheers, Scub
  13. Awesome! Tested it in Nevada with light winds in the column and result was a near-perfect hit with GP LD MK82's from 10.000 ft (ISA) close to Tonopah AB. I used my own spreadsheet with RL conversion parameters, but round-off errors will give about the same values as with simple math aids... +1 for first post! Tip: better not expect GP bombs to be accurate from high alt... that is why we have low level popup deliveries :) or any low level delivery for that matter! Cheers, Scub
  14. Will this be fixed? Or was it helpfull? Hope DCS dev read and give feedback. Thanks
  15. Thanks and that is the thing.... I was reading only incomplete data... scratching my head but will look into this more.
  16. @Tom. Is it correct that, after changing the config from Fixed HI to Pilot Opt, the default DSMS mk82air profile still reads Fixed HI? So in other words, did you create a new weapon profile after changing the config, for fuze to work? Reason I ask is that I like to verify if the default profile "update" is to be expected or not, therefor bugged or correct in this regard.
  17. Thanks all. Only one q remaining. How does F10 view help with coordinates?
  18. Thanks! @Tom, indeed your screen shows grid co. Is the mission editor view the same as F10 view with regards to the display of co on the bottom? I think it is not possible to access mission editor from 3D... Also good to know that DCS controls have switches, will look into that too.
  19. This is great stuff! Thanks. The UFC I have covered with dedicated hardware to support with WP naming etc. @Frederf, will each created WP from TAD (#?) automatically be designated as Flight plan? Or will this require the additional steps in the CDU/FPLAN menu? I assume that this is the case, since with pre-loaden flightplans all other WP's in the CDU database (like airbases WP 51,52,.. and bullseye WP 2049) are also not part of the flightplan. @Tom, indeed F10, but where did you retrieve complete coordinate data in this map view? As far as I could see I would only see incomplete data...
  20. Hi gents, I am very interested in your ideas and/or approach with the following. Sometimes we might join a multiplayer session and take seat in an A-10C without any pre loaded flight plan. With the CDU we are able to create such flight plan. When in 3D and hot jet, what steps or preparations do you guys make in order to come up with multiple route coordinates (and other data) for manual entry in the CDU? Do you work from some kind of map? (Tried F10 but couldn't retrieve complete data). Thanks for your insights! Cheers, Scub
  21. Tested in DCS 2.5.2 (august 2018 ) With X52 Pro (single throttle axis) Issue: It appears that if hardware with a single throttle axis is used, then the "Single Engine Restart - APU Restart" procedure as described in the Manual v.09 does not consistently lead to a succesful engine restart condition (note: statement is corrected for intended engine restart bias / feature). Refering to the thread below, it appears or it is believed that the cause may have to do with how the IDLE/Power position of the single axis hardware is percieved by the game-engine, i.e. Power position setting (operative engine 1) versus required Idle position reading (inoperative engine 2). Reference: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=77209 Hope this can be fixed. Thank you! Scub Other bugs: A-10C Single engine restart https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218453 A-10C Default weapon loadout https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=227997 A-10C Inventory update MK82AIR https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3734218#post3734218
  22. Ah roger! Nice to have several options. ;)
  23. Thanks for this. Im having the same issue, i.e. single throttle and assumed idle conflict... I was testing exhausively on emergency engine restart (APU/motor) and have to say it is frustrating and basically unreliable. Even with your checklist I managed to start only on occasion. Is there still update support for the DCS A-10C product? I would like to see this fixed. I would be happy to test or support with any tweak. Cheers, Scub.
  24. Hello Mission planner specialists, Please help me understand the following: When planning an KC135 with automatic enroute action "tanker", does it require the manual addition of "orbit" or "racetrack" action for it to stay any length of time on station? If auto will do, how is time on station setup? Couldnt find proof in the KC135 flight plan timing. Thanks. Scuby
