  1. That is exactly what I need! Thanks
  2. I'm practicing landing on the carrier but I can't figure out how to view my landings from the carrier (not the LSO position). Is there a way to save a camera angle from the end of the carrier looking backwards towards landing jets?
  3. Anyway to adapt this for a straight in approach? I'm just beginning and would like to practice just landing instead of doing a full pattern to start with.
  4. Is there a way to set aircraft state at the start of the mission? As in can I set it so I spawn into the F18 with Flaps down and Hook deployed with TACAN and ILS already on? Trying to set up a quick mission just to practise trapping and want to avoid having to spend time setting up AC each time. Also, what is the best way to review the landing from the carrier? Is there a way to setup a camera view from the carrier (other than LSO) to view the landing? I tried to place a jet on the boat but it flew off! Can I place a jet and watch the landing from it's point of view somehow?
  5. I have a t16000m joystick and the throttle. Modifier Keys! I didn't think of that!
  6. Is it possible to change the default external view angle (or the ahem... Arcade View Mode)?
  7. L ALT + C doesn't do anything for me except hide the mouse cursor?
  8. This might be really obvious but I can't figure out how to setup that the view follows the mouse cursor in the cockpit (F/A18C). None of the key-binds seem to work. I don't have TrackIr so really need an easy way to pan around the cockpit.
  9. Is it possible to Export or backup Controller Profiles so that when doing a full clean reinstall of DCS or OS I don't have to setup controls again?
  10. RAM can be overclocked like a CPU?
  11. I can afford either 16GB 3200mhz CL16 or 32GB 2666mhz CL16 RAM. Which would you recommend? i5-8600k (will try to OC), Asrock z370 Extreme4, EVGA 1070ti
  12. With read and write speeds of over 500mb/s for standard SSDs I can't believe that stuttering is the fault of an SSD.
  13. I'm here! :) Just reading all the replies until I have something to add. Thanks Johnny Rico for benchmarking, while I understand NVMe is clearly much quicker in read writing, the question is whether it actually makes a difference during the game - FPS. A few seconds at startup can't justify double the price even if I can afford it. Future-proofing is irrelevant because a year or two from now storage prices will be massively cheaper so negate any perceived current benefits. There are plenty of benchmarks showing little difference in general gaming but I wanted to know if there was anything specific about DCS (or Xplane) that would make a difference. My options are either a 500gb NVMe drive or a 1TB SSD for the same price. Unless there is a noticeable performance increase iN GAME I'd much rather a larger boot drive. (Other storage drives aren't a factor). Thanks for all your advice
  14. I've read lots of places that an NVMe barely makes a difference in gaming compared to an SSD. Just want to check that also applies to DCS. NVMe are twice the price, so is it worth it? I'm not bothered about shaving a few seconds boot times but concerned with ingame performance. Thanks
  15. Thanks for the tip! (Things have changed since I last built a PC 8 years ago!)
  16. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I was not thinking of running my OS on an HDD that definitely has to be on an SSD/NVMe drive. So you don't think there would be much performance difference between an SATA III SSD and and NVMe SSD whilst in game? What do you mean by having a seperate simming drive? Would this have it's own OS and you'd select the drive at boot up? Or would the OS be installed on the main boot drive but your simms installed on a seperate drive? Doesn't DCS have to be installed on the same drive as the OS?
  17. Thanks for all your answers, I'll probably go for 32gb 3200mhz then.
  18. Thanks for all your answers, going to wait until tomorrow to see the results of the newly released i5-9600K and if not significantly better will just get a i5-8600K and OC it.
  19. Building a new PC and trying to figure out the Drive situation. Thinking of getting a 500gb NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD but worried 500Gb won't be big enough. The PC will be mainly for just DCS & Xplane. Larger than 500gb are very expensive so thinking of getting a 4TB SATA 6Gb/s 256MB Cache 3.5-Inch for (Xplane) scenery and general storage. In order to not slow anything down, does everything in DCS need to be on the main SSD? What is the ideal drive setup (not withstanding everything on a giant NVMe SSD) Should I invest in cheaper 2.5 SSDs for the storage drive instead of a fast HDD? Is 500gb enough for the main boot drive? (I own the F18, F14, PG map and will probably buy a few more modules).
  20. I'm building a PC for DCS and Xplane but heard that Xplane doesn't like AMD processors much. Not sure of this is true or whether it applies to newer Ryzen processors. Obviously Ryzen are better value at the moment. Thoughts?
  21. Thanks, so doesn't seem worth it!
  22. Would there be noticable difference between 3200mhz 2666mhz RAM? Also How important is it to have 32gb vs 16gb or is it just future proofing?
  23. Is the Lenovo Explorer compatible with DCS? Are there any issues with it? Is it an equal system to the Oculus Rift?
