  1. I know this is a late response to an old post, but the Su-33 fuel probe retract problem is a programming bug that will unfortunately never be addressed. It has nothing to do with residual fuel accumulation in the probe, because it occurs regardless of whether you take on fuel, or simply toggle the probe, and it remains deployed much longer than a couple of minutes, preventing a switch to nav mode until it retracts. It makes a difficult operation downright annoying. Imagine trying to refuel at night in bad weather, and then trying to get back on the boat without ILS navigation. Worse still, you are unable to tank, and now your way past bingo fuel in the middle of a cold, dark ocean.
  2. Thanks for all the replies to my Heatblur F-14 playback issues. As usual, my ignorance was placed on full display, but I still got some really great answers. Thanks for puttin' up with me, y'all.

  3. It's almost the end of 2022 and the Heatblur F-14 saved tracks still do not replay correctly. For one thing, it is not saved as an interactive replay. It doesn't allow for changing views, or for TrackIR interaction during the replay, and all my Jester interactions are played back on top of the replay. Oh, yes, and the aircraft invariably does a suicidal nosedive into the ground when you get within spitting distance of your destination. The replays are inaccurate, unreliable, and unusable for training/learning purposes, unless you are looking for what not to do. C'mon Heatblur, please, let's get it together already! Four years is way too long so sit on such a glaringly in your face discrepancy!
  4. Right, it's an RX-580, but it did the job, and lasted all of two years, and I babied it. Thanks for the advice about buying used. The question is "used" or "abused" sort of like buying a car. You just never know. But thanks again.
  5. I sent my graphics processor back to the manufacturer about twenty days ago. I knew it was no longer under warranty and I was willing to pay to have it repaired. They turned it around and sent it right back to me. I know they took it out of the box, but I think that was about all they did before sending it back to me and saying it was fine. I then called an independent nationwide company that advertises GPU repair. They informed me they do not repair those devices. Conclusion: Nobody repairs these ridiculously expensive devices. So, I either find a way to repair it myself, and that may not be possible or practical, or I sit on my hands and wait for the prices to come down from two-and-a-half times normal, to something resembling normal again. I had better not hold my breath since that is not likely to happen. Conclusion: I have lost one of my principal hobbies. I cannot “game” anymore on the “gaming computer” I built. I can no longer use Digital Combat Simulator, or anything else like it. Why? I know there is a chip shortage, but I blame Bitcoin for the destruction of the GPU market for gamers. It comes down to greed and ego. I could go on about what I think of gaming industry equipment manufacturers quality versus price, but I will not. Thankfully, I have other hobbies and interests.
  6. Thank Allah you cannot die in a simulator unless it is from natural causes.
