  1. 2012? You must be an expert by now then! There is definitely a bit of learning curve, especially getting the slicing settings optimised. Which printer and software are you using?
  2. Thanks! I have fixed up the links now. Designing the enclosure motivated me to finally learn about 3D printing. It's a godsend for people like me with minimal wood or metal working skills!
  3. My Elgato Stream Deck has become an indispensable bit of kit for DCS so I decided to mount it into a button box instead of a conventional numerical keypad.
  4. It's absolutely worth it. I went from the CV1 to the Reverb and the jump in clarity is like going from a grainy VHS cassette image to High Definition. Make sure you have the hardware to run it though and be prepared to tune down some of your graphics settings. The trade off is more than worth it though.
  5. Thank you! Looks good. I'm guessing you used the bodnar bbi 64 for this too?
  6. Very nice, tidy work! Do you mind posting some closer up pics of your UFC panel? I am thinking of building something similar incorporating an Elgato Stream Deck. Thanks.
  7. Yes, sorry didn't explain properly. It will be mounted lower down on the right hand side of my rig, where the stream deck is currently in the attached photo. I like the stream deck so much, I am thinking of getting a second one to replace the Razer Tartarus controller on the left hand side.
  8. Thanks, I mainly play in VR, peaking down through the nose gap of the headset to look at RL controls. Therefore, having the Stream Deck at the front (i.e. nearer to me) is important because I have to be able to read the buttons easily. I will operate the physical buttons and switches through touch, muscle memory and the occasional glance so having them at the back should be fine.
  9. Here is my 3D printed WIP Stream Deck mounted button box. I am going to include some ON/OFF/ON latched switches, pots and rotary encoders (connected to a BU0836X). It's my first attempt at 3D printing so a bit rough around the edges!
  10. This is what I was doing too, keeping reprojection on all the time with "motionvector" stopped my FPS fluctuating so much and provided smoother gameplay. HOWEVER...the last WMR for SteamVr Beta patch totally messed up reprojection on my system. I now have to turn it off completely as both the "auto" and "motionvector" settings give me severe jittering and reduce framerates down into the low 20s making the game unplayable (I was getting 45 - 60 before). I have tried reinstalling both WMR for Steam VR and Steam VR, but the problem still persists. Would be interested to know if anyone else is experiencing similar issues with latest version of WMR for SteamVR Beta.
  11. Thanks for updating us on the situation. Looking forward to receiving my controller in the not too distant future (hopefully!)
  12. I have an IPD of 63 and to me the sweet spot of the Reverb is noticeably better than the CV1. I think the increased resolution of the Reverb almost makes this a given; Areas of image outside the sweet spot on the Reverb are slightly out of focus, but still readable due to the high resolution / low SDE of the display. However, in the case of the CV1, areas outside the sweet spot are very out focus, blurry and difficult to read due to the much lower resolution and high SDE of the display. For example, with the Reverb I can read text on the Hornet's left and right DDIs and lower AMPCD without moving my head. The lower AMPCD is on the fringes of the Reverb's sweet spot and the text is less sharp, however it's still legible. This was not possible at all with the CV1.
  13. This is certainly not my experience with the Reverb. As a CV1 owner I can confirm that the 3D effect of the Reverb is no different from the Rift. In fact, if anything the 3D effect of Reverb is improved because of the amazing clarity and ability to make out distant objects.
  14. I have a fully functional Reverb and am loving it. After much tweaking over the past month I have got the framerate to a reasonably stable 45 fps and although performance is not as smooth as my CV1, the increased clarity and SDE reduction more than makes up for the slightly juddery game play. My IPD is 63 and to me the sweet spot is a significantly improved over the CV1. I have only experienced the image flickering issue once and have since not been able to replicate the conditions that caused it - I hope it stays that way! I planning to keep hold of my Reverb for now as the other gen 1.5 HMDs simply cannot compete with it in terms of resolution.
  15. @Nagilem Thanks for providing these settings. I tried them last night and I did not see any noticeable improvement in FPS. Maybe it's because I am GPU limited rather than CPU limited? I am running the Reverb at native resolution (+180% Steam VR SS) so that would make sense.
  16. That's pretty amazing performance for Dubai. My fps dips down into the 30s in same scenario. I have installed Process Lasso as you recommended a few days ago. I have it set to "High Performance". Is there anything else I should be doing? How do I enable the CPU affinity fix you mentioned? Thanks!
  17. @Secoda Thanks for posting your settings. Interesting that you have the Nvidia Power Management mode set to "Optimal Power". I have heard it is always best to set it on to "Prefer Maximum Performance". Oh well, you seem to be getting better performance than me with a 2080 (I have a 2080ti) so I will give it a go. @Nagilem Thanks for the tip, I will try out Process Lasso.
  18. Secoda, I would be very grateful if you could post your current in game settings and NVIDIA control panel settings (apologies if you have posted them before on this thread). I am struggling to maintain a decent frame rates at 90 Hz and 180% Steam VR resolution both with and without the WMR reprojection.
  19. Have you downloaded and installed "WMR for Steam VR" from the Steam store? You need that for Steam VR to recognize your Reverb.
  20. Thank you to everyone for the help! I also heard that the "Run as admin" trick no longer stopped Oculus from loading up automatically. I will try it again along with the other suggestions (manually stopping the service or stopping it via Oculus tray tool. Regarding my poor performance on DSC with Reverb, I will see if Steam VR's reprojection improves smoothness and try lowering down my settings. Up to now I've been spoilt with ASW 2.0 on the Rift which completely eliminated ghosting and juddering. Other than these technical niggles I must say that I'm very impressed with the Reverb's image clarity. Coming from a CV1 it truly is a revelation!
  21. I am getting pretty awful performance on my Reverb with DCS (i7 6700K@4.7Ghz, 2080ti, 32GB RAM - full specs in sig). Here are my key settings: - In game PD 1.0 - Steam VR resolution 188% - Textures / Terrain Textures: High - Visible Range: High - MSAA X2 - AF: X2 - Shadows: Low Running the Reverb in 90 Hz / High Quality mode I get unstable frame rates between 40 - 60 with a lot of hitching and juddering. It's not smooth at all. I am getting similar, but slightly better performance in IL-2 BoX. Neither IL-2 or DCS will launch at all in 60 Hz mode so I have had no way of seeing if that makes any difference. Does anyone else have this problem with 60Hz mode? Others on this thread have reported much better performance with lower specs (e.g. 1080ti) so I am bit confused as to what is going on. One possibility might be that the Oculus client installed on my system is somehow interfering with things and tanking the performance. It automatically loads when I start up DCS and if I try to close it, DCS crashes. Is there anyway to prevent this? I would like to keep the Oculus client installed for the time being so any suggestions on how to completely disable it would be welcome.
  22. Thanks for the information. I will see how things go with the WMR default, but I would like to run the panels at native resolution. I am not planning to extend right away as I don't think that I will need to with my current seated set up. A cable extension would be useful for standing games like Blade and Sorcery and Beat Sabre. I will post my DCS settings and NVIDIA control panel settings when I give my impressions (hopefully tomorrow evening UK time!) I will be trying the Reverb with all the modules I own (Viggen, Hornet, Huey, Mirage, KA-50, F-5E, Warthog and Flaming Cliffs 3). I am especially interested to see how the Mirage cockpit looks, as that was notoriously bad on the Rift. I am also looking forward to assessing how much the increased resolution improves spotting air and ground targets. By the way, my system specs are in my sig.
  23. My Reverb is arriving tomorrow too. Does anyone have any tips on setting up the WMR client? Is it automatically downloaded when Windows detects a WMR headset? Also I remember reading that the latest Windows 10 update causes rendering problems for WMR and you have to roll back the update to get optimal performance. Can anyone provide more details please?
  24. Great news! Very excited to try DCS post-VR optimisation with the Reverb. After 3 years of blurry visuals and poor performance on the Rift I am hoping for a real step change in experience. For example, right now I learn new modules in 2D and only switch over into VR once I have fully familiarised myself with the various systems, controls and cockpit layout. The clarity of Reverb should enable me to skip this 2D learning step and go straight into VR right from the beginning - can't wait!
  25. Ordered a Reverb on the HP UK site earlier today. I'm planning to put a through the lens video of DCS on my YouTube channel, with emphasis on distant object spotting as well as cockpit clarity, when it arrives. Hopefully this will coincide with the VR optimisation patch.##
