Final Update, I managed to find a genuine replacement HP G2 V2 headset cable from an online store in Australia. So probably only good for Australians but price was good, $143.00 AUD plus postage. Hi jackd The dodgy unit was a Seagate Expansion 2TB SSD Portable Hard Drive - Black ($128.00AUD from Harvey Norman). I had 2 of them, both brand new and both scored around 75 on the Crystal Mark testing. I replaced it with a new ADATA Elite SE880 USB-C Portable SSD 2TB Drive ($250.00AUD) and had approx 500 score with Crystal Mark ( - 1000 score if installed via USB - C). Hi All, looks like my HP G2 V2 headset cable is playing up... I am getting black screens and intermitant drop out in the headset whilst using DCS/MSF2020 and iRacing. Still shows up on the monitors though. Played around with various windows power settings etc and no use. Also tried the old V1 cable which worked without drop outs and blackscreens So looks like I need a new cable (I know - get a newer VR headset you say - probably next year though) So can anyone advise where I can get replacent cable in August 2025. I am in Australia but happy to purchase wherever I can get quality cable (not the Temu version) Note tried to contact HP Australia (I know they no longer support but maybe a cable or somewhere to go for one). Most useless support website have seen - can't actually talk to anyone and any online support needs a serial number which when entered rejects as not known - absolutely hopeless Thanks in advance Taffy

Final Comments, New SSD installed and moved DCS to the new ADATA Elite SE880 USB-C Portable SSD 2TB Drive. Tested drive swap speed with Crystal Mark - all good. Full repair and it all worked great. So the Seagate 2TB SSD was the problem - just not up to it. Thanks again to all who threw suggestions my way, and we are good to go. Taffy

Solved this problem. The NEW SSD was just too slow and had trouble swapping data at required speed. Bought a better unit and re-installed and all working good now Taffy

Hi Guys - an update. But first, a big thank you for all your comments and suggestions - WE HAVE IT FIXED (hopefully) Went back and checked the 'dodgy' SSD on another USB port (original USB port was a USB 3.0 so should have been OK) - same slow rating with Crystal Mark. I also had another of the same SSDs (bought them on discount for the pair) - is being used just as additional back up drive on my wife's PC. Same slow rating on Crystal Mark. Does work fine as a back up file drive anyway - so looks like the wife gets another one. They are a Seagate 2TB SSD so you would think OK. However, maybe the discounted price was for a reason !!! For info Drive H has a USB-C connection and works great. So, copied (as suggested) DCS folder back onto the original Drive D internal SSD. Did a slow repair, edited relevant shortcuts etc ...... and it worked just GREAT. Much quicker loading, runs as smooth as silk, no stuttering or lagging in both triple screens and VR .. I am in love with DCS again. So looked like those SSDs are just not up to the demands of DCS. So have placed an order for an ADATA Elite SE880 USB-C Portable SSD 2TB Drive. Specs seem to indicate that will do it. so once that arrives will copy over to that SSD and start to reinstall all those maps and modules waiting for me. So once again, thanks

Hi Guys, I think you might have solved it !!! Well had a few spare minutes this morning and downloaded the Crystal Mark disk benchmark program and did a few test - so here they are: Drive D - 1TB internal SSD (DCS previously installed on here) 3 or 4 tests (I don't know why they drop throughout the tests) Read 562 / 534 / 385 / 37 Write 531 / 517 / 354 / 121 Drive H - 2TB external SSD (MSFS2020 installed on here) Read 468 / 453 218 / 35 Write 448 / 430 / 187 / 35 Drive F - Brand new 2TB SSD - (this is where I am trying to install DCS and having issues) Read 72 / 59 / 1.33 / 0.41 Write 77 / 69 / 0.83 / 0.58 Looks like this SSD is not working correctly as just way below the other drive speeds. Just to confirm with you if this looks like the problem - I will take it back and get a new one to try Your thoughts please Thanks

Thanks Guys, I will take a look at all your suggestions and see how I get on. I might try re-installing the basic DCS on the original internal drive (I have plenty of room without all the add-on mods etc) as it was working perfectly well then. It's only since I made the change to the new external SSD that I have had the problems - that might highlight (or not) a problem with the new external drive. Thanks scommander2 - did some checking and this is what I found: my CPU has 5 cores Paging size is running at 4864 accross all drives - is that enough etc ?? Memory use - maybe this is interesting - just taxing the F/A 18 as follows CPU percentage at 66% - 76% Memory at 7640MB (50%) GPU useage 60% Power useage at High to Very Hign (in the RED) All that seems high to me for just 1 x aircraft taxing at Medium details - but I'm not aware of how this compares Your thoughts

HI All, A bit of an update to my previous question on the 17th of June - below is my original problem/question. I also put this on the installation problem pages, so apologies if you see it twice but desperate for help Hi Guys, need a bit of advice. Old drive was getting full so could not add latest update. So just moved my DCS install to another drive (2TB SSD), used copy / paste as advised. Also moved the Saved games folder through windows process. And changed the shortcuts. All worked and can access DCS (takes a fair bit of time to load though). However is very laggy in VR and on triple screens (was not like this before). Went back and ran it from the original folder and works well as always. So checked again but still laggy on the moved install. Any suggestions or ideas on what this may be ?? Thanks Taffy So finally gave up on this after numerous trial and error checks / repair Slow and fast etc. So bit the bullet and did a re-install from scratch. So just installed the basic DCS World and downloaded the F/A 18 (nothing else and planned to go through a download by download process (all on a brand new 2TB external SSD). However just launched with the F/A 18 out of the Caucases ? .. and exactly the same fault as before. Laggy as hell just on triple screens (not even tried VR yet). So I seem to be back at square one with just the basic install and one aircraft. Had a look at the log file and quite a few errors and warnings. I am not capable of working out the protential problems, but have attached the log file if anyone can have a look and see what they think. Any help would be great as it's driving me insane (current system is Win 10, Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz, 32 GB Ram and a GTX 3080 graphics card) All of which work great with MSFS 2020 and iRacing) Thanks in advance. dcs - Copy.log

Well Guys, There is good news - after about 4 weeks of no luck - I think you guys solved it !! Checked all the double settings where some mappings were also set to my button box as well as the HOTAS. Have been aware of the 'Easy Flight Model/ Game function' - so that was not it. However, the 'Game Avionic' was selected... so deselected that and had a go at resetting most of the functions...... and it worked. I can now use the throttle fully, raise / lower the wheels, use the nose wheel brake and the speed brake (all of which were either not working or a bit dodgy. So I think it was probably the Game Avionic function that was causing all the problems. Took off and did my first landing (rough but survivable and taxied back into the lines)... now to learn how to actually fly it. Thanks again to all of you who spent the time helping out - much appreciated Paul/taffy001

Hi Deano, And thanks for keeping up with this.... I have checked the Game/Sim controller functions and game realism settings. Tried them both, but seems the Sim has more controller options available so sticking with that for now. I'm also looking at upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10 at the moment as I have some Oculus Rift upgrade problems as well (since the recent update). I am working with Oculus on that but no luck there - so might just bite the bullet and do a fresh install of Win 10 and reload everything (I also race on iRacing and other driving and VR stuff - so a bit of effort required to get it all setup again - so still thinking about it (has been 5 years on Win 7 without any fresh installs) !! Hi Deano, Yes I have done that - only odd thing is that even when I delete those files and go back to the controller setup, the stick axis controls are already there (yaw/pitch etc) - maybe it does that by default ??? What is strange though is that the keyboard functions (which are already there) do not work...and I have deleted and reset them - again with no luck....Maybe the Hornet is not for me !!! Maybe I need to completely reinstall DCS from scratch - don't have anything in there that I cannot fix (only the 3 aircraft)and just a few replays.....

Hi Deano87, Sadly I have got nowhere.....gone through the bunch of processes - reinstalled the FA18 twice but still no joy...really strange. In the setting/controller inputs, I can bind keys to functions (then even press the key and it returns to the particular function so it seems to be binding). But once in game no reaction from the buttons (even the G on the keyboard does not work) And for some reason - just seems to be with the Hornet (I have the Spit and Huey modules and they work fine) So I am at a complete loss at the moment (just tried it all again and no joy) Taffy

Hi guys, Just a simple one...I am having lots of problems with the F/A-18 module...can I simply remove it in the module manager and then reinstall / download it again from DCS ? (at no cost of course)..don’t want to remove without knowing the answer first Thanks in advance
