    Alignment without Engine Start

    We started the engines, set and stored the alignment, did OBC, prepped and tuned missiles, shut down, topped off the fuel, and sat there for hours, listening to our Sony Walkman tape cassettes, punctuated with a loud zap every six seconds or so as the ship's radars swept by our jets.

     

    Some guys sat on bubble wrap, but it was prohibited and had to be thrown over the side before closing the canopy. Anyone guess why?

    I;ve always wondered, why the tomcat wasn't designed to have her avionics preped without engines running.

     

    also, out of curiousity, if you flew the B(Upgrade) and D cats, do they handle very differently from the older cats (digital vs analogue sas)... pardon me if this has been asked before

    not sure about you guys, jester call's can get really loopy and annoying at times, i just set him to no talk...

     

    anyway,

     

    i like the sparrowhawk, never flew a tomcat beofre, been on glass cockpit(c-172) since flight training till now (B777) ...

     

    I like the sparrowhawk, probably wont make me fly better... but i like the sparrowhawk

    just curious, which fighter cannot be hot fueled and hot armed...

     

    i'm pretty sure the above planes, 14/15/18 can.

     

    also, with ed breaking this , nerfing and buffing stuff.. I think it is time we call for "realism" and just accept that even ED treats this like a game...

    Just curious. What games/sims don't experience similar issues when releasing a beta? Secondly, why do so many of you use OB if you don't want to deal with broken items? Why not stay with the stable version until things get sorted?

    remember that time when sour-puss non-tomcatters were complaining about how OP our GE-engines were and ED heard and then HB had to act and for the first time in history a nerfing update skipped OB and went straight to both?

     

    there after the back to normal engine modeling was first release to OB before it went stable?

     

    this happened about 3to6 months after early access i think. That's why..

    for this matter, i,ve always wondered how they did it on alert 5?

     

    do they electronically start up the aircraft with the ground power and do all the electronic work and leave it on?

     

    does the ground air cart provide cooling for the wcs?

     

    doesnt make sense that they have to spool the engines just to align ins

    Yeah, too difficult. In the end, I'm going to just order the grip and use the resulting discount on another F14 license for my brother. Same savings, less hassle. Thanks for the response. Looking forward to trying this piece of kit out. My only problem will be figuring out what to do with my MCG pro...

     

     

    On the bright side, at least you get to order :) ... Do enjoy the stick for me as well!

    It is easy to white Knight with your keyboard my friend... Especially if you don't live near them and are affected by their nonsensical policies and the general lack of culture of a good number of their people...

     

    From the fact you chose to SELECTIVELY white Knight a part of my first point (which I made on purpose) out of the full context... Instead of acknowledging that you either made the wrong assumption about my initial question or that you were not referring to me... Speaks alot.

     

    Have some perspective man ... White knighting does Jack shit... Especially if you know nuts about the context.

    Ordinarily I would be somewhat impatient. However we should all consider that currently there are millions of people in home quarantine in China, many thousands (at least) infected with Kung Flu / COVID-19, thousands dead. If you've been paying any attention to current affairs the Chinese supply chain is massively impacted. (8 largest ports in China closed, national holidays extended etc). Hence your "toy" might not be ready to deliver yet. Get some perspective.

     

    Edit:

    Turns out VKB are saying (this evening) that they are opening orders on 17 Feb. Although they warn of shipping backlogs. It is hard to know what exactly is the situation in China right now. Last news story on this I've seen suggested that >700 million people in China were under quarantine. (Up from c.500 million about a week ago). If true... incredible. But if VKB are suggesting they are back to work tomorrow... who knows?

    but incase you are replying to me

     

    1)don;t know and don't care about what's happening in china (i'm ethnically chinese btw)...

    2) i'm merely asking, when can i even put in an order to VKB for the "toy"... the option has been locked out for a while now

    There's more than only the TM Warthog base here. You have various Cougar modded bases (NXT, FSSB), there's also the FSSB Warthog base, then there are also Virpil bases which are compatible with TM grip standard (and can emulate TM base to be compatible with TM Target).

     

    Regarding the compatibility, Virpil grips work on TM bases with adapted functionality (e.g. a button press instead of an analog brake axis, etc.). You lose some functionality, but you keep TM Target compatibility. There's no reason why VKB couldn't offer the same.

     

    There's no reason why they should either, it's their product, their ecosystem... They have absolutely no obligation to make grips compatible with any other products. Wonder why everyone so damn entitled over it.

     

    If u want the stick, u buy it... If you don't agree, don't buy it...

     

    From.most of the complains I see... Most of the complainers either don't understand the philosophy of the product... Or selfishly want a tm compatible grip because they own tm joysticks.

    I'm just here to say, for the record, I'll pay the same amount of money i paid for the A/B modules... for a D cat.
