  1. against the mustang against the spit I have recognized that I can take on mustangs, if they're not too bright: The A8 is a monstrous scissor-deamon, so you'll let the mustang take on you (and survive it's first attack), then you scissor untill it has to break off, and then you take it. That doesn't work against the spit though, it will tear through you every time. I think you have to fly the A8 against the spit with a lot of energy conserving... I don't know how that should work in the A8 though.
  2. The final answer is as always: It depends highly on budget and what you want to achieve. All the prices are referenced to central europe, and may vary a lot to where you live. When I started, I went from an old MS Sidewinder FFB2 with a secondhand TrackIR5 over TM T1600m to Warthog with MFG Crosswinds and Oculus Rift + new PC. This cost a lot. My Suggestion is to go cheap first with a T16000m and fly extensively. If you decide to stay, go balls deep and invest that coin into premium or top end. If you're updating your gear from quality-step to quality-step, you'll spend a lot of dollars into stuff you can't sell anymore for the same price. Headtracker: Natural Point TrackIR5. ~150$ Maybe have a look at those free softwares for webcam use: facetracknoir freetrack opentrack H.O.T.A.S Budget: ~70$ Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X: Cheap, some buttons, full scale throttle... you'll be okay when combined with a keyboard. You have a twist stick, so you won't need Pedals. It won't feel premium, but it's okay and you can fly planes with it and have the "trigger and throttle" feel. It has not enough buttons and is generally not really a good HOTAS - I'd go for the more expensive Thrustmaster T16000m with throttle, but without pedals - you'll end up at ~140$ and have much more potential. Medium Budget: ~200$ Thrusmaster T16000m HOTAS with Pedals. It's a good solution for beginners with a fullscale throttle, a lot of buttons and some functional pedals, you will be able to fly most planes and helicopters with this setup efficiently and have enough buttons to control them decently. Hands off the Saitek / Logitec sticks, the buttons tend to break easily and are too light (rhino) - they were actually not bad, but there is a QC issue atm. Premium: ~750$ Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS with MFG Crosswinds: That is a premium solution with decent gimbals, a lot of buttons, a good rudder control (the stick is not twistable, so you'll need some pedals). The base of the warthog has a known lubrication problem and gets sticky with time. You will need to fix that after 6 months - 1 year, depending on usage. High End: ~1200$ + VKB Stick or Virpil Stick and Virpil Throttle with deskmounts. The thrustmaster TPR pedals or the Slaw Device Viper. This is without question the Top End. VR Glasses: Oculus Rift S (best bang for buck option ATM) 450$ Oculus Rift (atm a super cheap second hand option, maybe to start with) ~250$ HTC Vive Pro (too expensive for what it is) ~1500$ Valve Index (not released yet) Pixmax 5k (8K) (an exotic VR Goggle with a lot of potential) ~900$
  3. Sale is the key I've bought normandie and WW2 assets in a sale, but never really used it.. I often fly on Burning Skys WWII server, and as long as there are no ww2 units, I guess nobody will feel "forced" to buy the modules. But I also agree, that you should be able to fly in WW2 environments, but not create anything without buing the packs. And we need a few more planes... Not special OP planes, but planes wich are compareable.. I mean the 109 (if well flown) can outrun and outclimb anything atm... as a spit you must have luck to get a new pilot into a turning fight, or a veteran not spot you in the first place... Maybe they should just release some compareable variants of the Spit / 109 / Mustang / 190.. the I16 can't be taken seriously anyway.
  4. priority of threads I'm absolutely not sure what causes it. Sometimes it appears when I do a simple F10 - F1.. so to the map and back again. Sometimes it appears when I alt-tab to desktop or whatever. The following does help sometimes: Alt-tab out switch to some other tab, and alt-tab into DCS again. Off to F10 and back with F1. Remove the goggles from your face and put them back on. But there is no such thing as a guarantee... sometimes it works, and sometimes not. Btw it's not double vision. Every lens stutters itself. So closing one eye doesn't help.
  5. Why always more and faster? I do understand that implementing new features requires research and a lot of coding. I do not want so many things... at least not that quick, the damn F14 is work enough! But what I want is less bugs after an update. Maybe assign a betatesters team which checks out the hornet during the update, so you guys can set some people to iron out the bugs as fast as possible. For my part, I don't fly the hornet atm - because of problems - with the bombs and laserguided ammunition - the Mavericks not arming properly after reloading - the alignment not working - the radar only working sporadically - the hud beeing stuck And I'm sure there are other problems available. So, this is what needs fixing before throwing more content at me.
