  1. They have a beta...?
  2. No, can't say I have had any issues with random locks or stuttors. From what I read it's an intel chipset issue that a new driver can fix? I don't know but I think I read something like that looking for Raid info. Currently I am having issues with my motherboard and setting up the raid with 2 of them. But it's not drive related, the raid controler is being goofy and I can't boot with it enabled. Thats off topic though :)
  3. Was messing with the bus at first, but couldn't get the machine stable. Anyway, I am currently sticking with 3.6ghz. Core Multiplyer is 18x 200 fsb Volts in AMD Over Drive read out in order 1.4875 1.4750 2.1 1.480 1.3 1.25 If I stress the machine in Prime-95 with the cpu max power/heat my CPU core reaches 68-70C... Still a little hot, but from what I have read this chip can opperate @ 72C. The only time I get it this hot is with Prime-95 and games usually only bring it to 65ish +/-2
  4. Well this is with 1 32gb SSD, I was surprised the random write speeds were so low... Good thing the read speeds were superb! And thats the one that counts when playing games =D Wish the benchmark showed seek times. I'll run it again when I get my raid up. -------------------------------------------------- CrystalDiskMark 2.2 © 2007-2008 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/ -------------------------------------------------- Sequential Read : 139.461 MB/s Sequential Write : 78.369 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 130.485 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 41.269 MB/s Random Read 4KB : 11.943 MB/s Random Write 4KB : 1.739 MB/s Test Size : 100 MB Date : 2009/03/09 7:01:54
  5. Os isn't installed on it yet, waiting on my second drive so I can have a 64gb raid. Did put the page file on it though. I'll post some more benchmarks when I get the rig set up... Should be receiving the 2nd drive on Tues.
  6. Don't know if that would save you much money... Cool idea but I don't think I would stray away from SSD and mess with the headache of setting this up. 15k models $400-600 a piece... And the great throughputs were only with 4 of them raided... http://www.google.com/products?q=hitachi+15k450&hl=en 7k models $100-200 http://www.google.com/products?q=hitachi+7k1000&hl=en 32gb SSD are going for 84.99 -135 http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=patriot+32gb&hl=en&cid=11875290913699462003&sa=title#ps-sellers Edit > Eeek... And I just found the access times, the throughput numbers are very impressive but these access times... not so much. http://media.bestofmicro.com/N/D/179689/original/short-stroking-access-time.png You can grab a 32gb SSD and load a couple games and your page file on it. You will love it so much that you will end up grabbing another for a raid config. And then you might be so addicted to the speed you order 2 more for a 128gb 600mb per sec throughput with access times <.01ms =D At the moment I have 1 32gb SSD and have the 2nd on order, I'll post some throughputs and benchmarks when I get them married in a baeutifl raid 1 config =D
  7. Well I am about to load up BS on my new rig... Just got the Phenom 2 x3 720 as well... I was using the stock cooler @ 3.6ghz and it was running a little hot, now I have a pretty copper one except it sits over the ram banks and interfered with the heat sinks on the ram. I had to bend them almost 90 degrees(hope this won't be an issue). Also got a solid state drive and was so impressed with it I purchased a second so I can raid them and have twice the speed! Should have the second one by Tuesday! This new cpu is pretty sweet for such a budget buy. I have seriously spent 5+ hours playing with overclocking. So far the fastest almost stable clock has been 3.737gHz on air cooling. I have it bumped down to 3.6 because temp levels were pretty damn hot (73-76C) and that worried me. On the otherhand if I burn the CPU I will just go pick up another @ 145 I won't cry too much.
  8. :megalol: Getting < .01 ms access on the SSD. I don't want to sound like a fanboy, but seriously these SSDs really rock. And now I am thinking about getting another to raid them together. Check this video out, no it's not me doing the review but I am almost as excited as he is lol... http://www.dailymotion.com/search/SSD+patriot+warp/video/x84ehc_patriot-warp-solid-state-hard-drive_tech Below is a benchmark I ran with some reference HDs... The red is the SSD. Top is Read speeds and below is the access times.
  9. SSD Deal Tiger Direct has a 32gb SSD for 84.99 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3956991&CatId=4147 Just picked one up and am all ready thinking about getting a second one for a raid configuration. As of now I have my page file on it and a couple games... The games load so much quicker and like the op said, no more micro hick ups.
