  1. I will try as you say, but below is an extract from Eagle Dynamics ru wiki instruction If this is incorrect, perhaps this is why so many are having trouble with snap views. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1588647&postcount=17)! By default, in DCS A-10C, DCS Black Shark 2 and DCS World, customisation of snap views is disabled. To enable it you must alter one line in one of the LUA files, as follows: In the DCS A-10C or DCS Black Shark 2 installation folder, then folder config, then folder view, find file View.lua Look for the line (about 50 lines down): UseDefaultSnapViews = true and change it to UseDefaultSnapViews = false Next time you start the simulation, snap-view customisation will be possible.
  2. Sorry if I was unclear. By dynamic views, I mean that 1 to 9, less Num5 all provide a moving view, e.g.num1 pan down and rotate left, num2, pan up etc, etc. whereas Num5 switches current view to a fixed view forward no movement. (an existing snap view but not one I want, as I have similar option in Trackir). As far as the means of customizing, I am using the method described in EDwiki.ru, and as defined in this forum amd Reddit, basically set up required view, Identify which view to customize using L Win+numN N being the key chosen. Press RAlt_nun0 then to use, select view using LWin+numN. Whilst this is being done, Trackir is disabled/off. Before beginning. DCS world/Config/Views/views UseDefailtSnapViews=true canged to false, Options/ Misc/ allow save snap views selected, Esc/all/ option save cockpit angles confirmed as LAlt+O. Every time I attempt to customize snap views, I am able to fix a Snap view to num5 , but all other keys retain their default function. When, as required to select a specific key, by pressing LWin and numN the process description states that the view will switch briefly before returning to the chosen view, this does not happen, the view changes and stays that way. I hope that this provides clarity.
  3. I don't know if anyone can help, but for the last 6 days I have been trying to set up snap views. After a succession of frustrating failures, I have just realized that the only key which will accept the mapping is Num5. The significance appearing to be that it is the only non dynamic function. Has anyone else seen this, and if so, is there a workaround for it. Any assistance gratefully appreciated
  4. I have just got Trackir, having previously been a Tobii Tracker 4C user. At present, I only use them in Flight sims (DCS and MS Flight sim). I have spent time to work out the best way to program the Tracker 4C. and, as such, I get satisfactory results, but the current software is slightly less sophisticated w.r.t Trackir in areas such as zoom where this function seems to work better off a china hat type switch and being able to look around, over and under fixed items in the cockpit (such as stick and gunsight). As such, I decided to get Trackir 5, and in the majority of the functions, it is an excellent product. However, when I try to tune it I do not seem to be able to get a stable "ïn cockpit look down". Being fairly new to the sim environment (and not forgetting quite old) I need to spend lots of time when attempting programming in data for avionics and weapons etc. but cannot get the kind of stability in the views I get with the Tobii tracker. In my first efforts to use trackir, I have leaned heavily on the excellent vid by Gerry Abbott which provides an insight to tuning Trackir and is which is available on youtube, but I cannot find a way around the problem of looking down in comfort enough to set up flight plans and such like in the cockpit. Can anyone help or advise please.
  5. A good confidence boost for DCS (or not) Today I bought 3 items, Normandy Map, WW2 Assets Pack (bundled with Normandy Map) and Spitfire Mk IX. I attempted to start the Normandy Map but all I could get was wallpaper, other options map options not available(e.g. instant action). However, Spitfire did start up in Caucasus map, but preflight check and engine start failed at Rudder check. Checked Module manager and whilst I could see WWII assets pack, no Normandy Map. Whilst I was looking through the module manager (for inspiration) the Module manager froze up on Options page and the only way out was to shut down my system. Now what?
