HERE'S A VIDEO OF THE ISSUE:
AND ON "LOW" PRESET:
Hey guys, so I've had this issue for the entire time that I've had DCS. The title explains the issue
I first thought it was caused by not loading the game onto an SSD - So I went ahead and bought a Samsung 860 EVO 500gb SSD and loaded DCS onto that (fresh install and everything). That didn't fix the issue; though it did allow for much quicker load times!
I then figured my problem must be due to my "low" RAM capacity of 16GB; so I lived with the problem until I was recently able to purchase 32GB of 2666MHz RAM.
Before 2.5.6, the FPS was... Manageable; though my GPU never went above 60% usage and 65 degrees, and my CPU would hover at around 30% usage and 45-50 degrees. Now, the usages are about the same, but my FPS is well below usable at a very inconsistent and stuttery 26-30 fps (as in, it stutters and drops below those frames extremely often) no matter what graphics settings I'm on! Low preset gets the same FPS as High preset...
I have scoured the forums to try to figure this issue out, and I'm tired of randomly throwing money at the problem hoping for it to be a fix (though I didn't mind the upgrades that I got along the way). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My only thought is maybe it's because I'm running Windows 8.1? I have heard 8.1 is actually great for gaming because it has low background usages, but if that is seriously the problem, I can upgrade to Windows 10 I guess... Though I'd rather stay 8.1. Also, every other game I have played with this setup will use 100% GPU as necessary. It's only DCS that doesn't use more GPU usage even if my monitor demands more frames.
Edit: Just updated to Windows 10 with absolutely no change!!
