Thnx, just found some backups i made and imported from that ... have not been 'playing' DCS a while, maybe some screw-up because of that.
-
I lost my carefully edited controllers and keybindings. I have the saved games folder however, relocated to another drive via windows.
How do i check that location in DCD Openbeta, latest update?.
-
added: tune both filters 2 and 0.05 or about against the shaking. I use the default ini now.
-
PS Added a tip from James Allen about shaky-ness:
Quote:
Please try increasing rotating filter smoothing, you can do this in the 'filter' tab in TrackHat opentrack options,
please try increasing the first slider on the page to at least 1.5.You should also set the deadzone, the second slider, to at least 0.03
-
I just gave it another shot, now with IL2 Great Battles. That shakymess is still is there, seems less in a darkened room.
Looked on the trackhat v2 site for news, nada, i'm gonna ask James for help once again.
ADDED: I found this info on the IL2 forum; behavior seems slightly better with less shaking when started without the game, made an RTF: Veteran's test.rtf

Just curious: about the I-16 now early 2024.
I tried it about a year ago extensively. I did not like it as far as all the manual handling needed like getting the wheels up with repeated pressings etc.
The i-16 is OK in IL2 great battles, but i really could not come to grips with it in DCS.
Is it still the same in DCS or are there improvements, f.i. more automated functions now?

I did not buy it yet, but might after a (reported) upgrade of this map.
-
Yep, i've been trying on or off ... seems no difference.

Thanks Art. Funny is though the prop thing with the 'normal' DCS.exe is NOT with an RTX 4080 (non Super) and my former 3080ti.
I have windows 10 64x LTSC and 64GB of DDR5, just installed the latest GPU drivers. I'll give windows 11 pro a try soon; just bought a license.
BTW the bin-mt DCS.exe is staggering at times, but not always on my win 10 system.. The game window is surrounded by a white flickering thin line at startup.
Makes me still think it's a specific adjustable NVIDIA RTX control panel thing.
ADDED ... just tested DCS with Windows 11 pro. SAME BEHAVIOR, only it seems that the bin-mt DCS exe runs OK, but takes twice the time to start also.
-
Thanks, alas on my system Avast Premium is controlling these. PS i can't really see different security behavior regarding security between the two DCS.exe versions.
I have a strong feeling my 4080 super RTX's settings in control panel have to do with it ... Just installed the latest NVIDIA drivers, but the pulsating prop is still there.
A friend has a 'normal' 4080 GPU, but he does not have this pulsating prop at all.
-
Just updated DCS. Prop error is still there with DCS.exe normal version, but the DCS.exe from the bin-mt folder no longer works:
Stuttering game play, and a white flickering border around the game window. Must be with some NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super settings issue.
Tips welcome! and thanks for looking.
ADDED: NVIDIA control panel settings ............. just found it right here at the downloads: thanks Sn8ke Pizzkin.

DRAWBACK ... DCS.EXE from the bin-mt folder takes twice the tim to start that the normal one ............ FIX BADLY NEEDED !!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks all, just figured it out. I must run DCS.exe from the bin-MT folder, than it's gone ..
-
what is ST? MT? something to do with my 4080 super RTX? Guess nothing to do with sounds ..
Only i have sounds switched off as i use a steinberg UC22, all worked Ok with my old 3080ti RTX card.

I just got a new GPU, Gigabyte Aorus 4080 Super Gaming OC.
The game runs fine, but i tested a p51 (bought version), using the F2 key for a side view noticed a weird prop display position behavior.
It' position moves forwards and backwards along the first part of the engine compartment, pulsating about 6 times per second.
This was not with my old Gigabyte Aorus RTX 3080 ti card .... so it might be some settings issue.
MSAA on or of makes no difference, and i like it off since the prop haze is less.
I am not handy to record a video of it, dunno how, got no experience installed (had problems with it in the past)..

Well, i guess by reading all this i probably would use this map too rarely to bother buying it. I am more into ww2 prop-plane stuff anyway, with ww2 assets and combined arms it seems i must stick around Normandy etc as such. Thanks all for opinions and info, i'll let Nevada be for now.
-
I guess this Nevada map is not suitable driving a vehicle like a ww2 willy jeep around, which is IMO good sports on the Normandy map ... opinions?
PS, has Area 51 some flying saucers too maybe LoL.

Where do you find that page, in my case windows 10 LTSC?
-
Remark: the pagefile IMO is not addressed much if you have enough RAM, so it might be a waste of space to use a fast SSD for it.
-
Last times i used Samsung Data Migration successfully, as i had an SSD to larger SSD transfer.
But maybe it's better to move your SavedGames first out of the users folders to a different drive(USB external?). You van always copy it back.
PS do that via windows and properties, other wise it won't work, and the whole DCS you can put anywhere, i have both on a different drive, bu that's no laptop.
ADDED i also saved all my settings to a separate folder i made called it 'DCS settings and profiles' as backup, some work but saved me doing it all again ...
-
I tried a few, seem to work OK, but waypointing some might have some problems ... I think i found each ship needs their own route set.

Great and thanks ... was only wondering about the visual prop wash disk; saw this also with an old Fiesler Storch model, is there a (general) fix for it? ....
-
Hi. Got a DDR5 MSI Edge 790 (not the i version)
Was just wondering if upgrading my CPU from a i9-12900K to a 14900K or KF is worth it.
Test sites show about 12% general speed improvement. 24 cores versus 16 on the 12900K.

Wooden...!
in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Posted
The nickname wooden wonder .... still feel in DCS it better would be 'cardboard' wonder, the way the model looks and behaves maybe could use some improvements ?.
