  1. Game 2.9, and i could not get the spit with bombs (i bought the spit last sale). Then i found that by right click on the green Mission payload field below the 3,2,1 fields it worked.

What puzzles me still is that the 500lb version was only able on plane 2,3, and 4, (bomb in the middle) pictured) not for the player ...

What the various beer bombs do? Pub logistics?

  2. Destroyer by hawkeye66, ww2 nazi ship MOD (DKM Z39) ... i could only get  it moving so far to the first waypoint with added task 'go to dito'.

The flag wavers even, no matter where the wind's coming from in the same direction.

I wonder if the torpedoes and guns fire,  the DKM_Z39.lua file only mentions 'CAT_SHELLS. Must get it moving first.

PS the encyclopedia file says it was transferred to the US Navy in 1945 ....

History citation: The Z39 was a Type 1936A (Mob) destroyer built for Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was laid down in August 1940 and completed three years later. Her anti-aircraft armament was increased extensively during the war. Z39 served with the 6th Destroyer Flotilla her entire German career, which she spent escorting transports in the Baltic Sea, laying mines, and bombarding land forces. The destroyer served the navies of a total of three different countries: from 1943 to 1945 with the Kriegsmarine as Z39, from 1945 to 1947 with the US Navy as DD-939, and from 1948 to 1964 with the French Navy as Q-128.

Throughout her German service, the ship laid numerous barrages (explosives concentrated over a wide area) of mines in the Baltic Sea and bombarded Soviet forces several times. In the last months of the war, Z39 helped escort steamships that were evacuating German soldiers and civilians from Eastern Europe to Denmark. Z39 was damaged twice, once by Soviet planes while in Paldiski and then by British planes while in Kiel. At the end of the war, the destroyer was transferred to the United States Navy. It conducted experiments testing her equipment—her high-pressure steam propulsion plant in particular. After the US Navy deemed her obsolete, the ship was transferred to the French Navy, where she was cannibalized for parts, and made into a pontoon boat for minesweepers.

    Looks great and well made:

ADDED: This waypointing issue was with 3 ships with their own waypoints. With these 3 grouped together they followed the waypoint route OK.

  3. Yep, agree, was only just daydreaming i guess.

Just was combining airfields on Normandy via miz files by saving them as StaticTemplates, and then importing them into a new mission or StaticTemplate. Quite a bit of work.

  4. In Il2 you can draw a box around visible objects to select, and save them as group. Also you can select which are visible per type or set a group as active.

The selected you can save-export as group file, and f.i import them in an other mission. Very, very useful ...

BTW the name template is used a bit too general for various things in DCS, can be confusing.

taken during a car trip I made with my wife to Patagonia .. here I'm near Puerto Natales and my car is on the cargo deck of the ship. We drove almost 10,000 kilometers during that trip over 30 days, one of the nicest vacations that I've had. 😇

    Cheers. Eduardo

Now i wonder if any one found your hat ..?

  6. How did you get the crew aboard?  BTW that little Harbor Tug is also nice ...

Waypointing it out of Ramsgate harbor is tough for a tough tug, guess there's no damage model:

    ---------------

This background static (steam?) tug is also great, maybe there's a mod *.edm etc somewhere to adapt it to a lively thing:

    - ww2 assets tugboat static.jpg

PS is there a way to place static cameras on the map with the ME nearby, like one can do in IL2 Great Battles?

  7. Yep .. Thanks:

PS i am still trying to find more allied ww2 ships ... all the Admiral 189 stuff look great, but there seems to be no old stuff .. no Liberty alas.

besides the Hood and Noth Carolina i found this also:

  8. PS in IL2 they solved this sort of with 2 different maps, early and D-Day. Maybe someone can create a similar thing?

Normandy itself after D day was so much expanded with airfields by the allies, that it might be doable with some mod, although there might be terrain edits necessary.

Enable the data bar with LCtrl+Y and look at the Angle of Attack. If it's reaching high values (like 15 degrees and more) then it's normal that the plane starts shaking.

That's not it, only when you take a sharp dive it gets past 15, and then shakes more and too much.

A similar P51 job on the channel map shakes too when diving etc, but a lot less, and there i could not get AOA past 15. But i am still experimenting.

A spitfire setup behaves the same way more or less. I now begin to think it has to do with the map since 2.9 (updated DCS to the latest version).

Do you have curves set on your controls? Your movements are extreme and erratic it seems when I bring up the control display.

Hi NinLine. I use a warthog set, and since a month crosswind pedals v3.

    Tuning yes, but quite minimal;

    for Roll: Deadzone 3, saturation X and Y 100, curvature 11.

for Pitch the same but curvature 21.

    Rudder (crosswind) Deadzone 0, Sat X and Y 100, Curvature 31.

PS a mission created on the Channel map with the p51 works fine, same settings. De-installed all mods (installed via JSGME), ran slow repair ... same behavior. Can it be some P51 settings to check?

  11. HI Art-J, NineLine ...... no gameflight mode is off .... airspeed is about 350 km/h.

Just tried another mission on the channel map with a p51, and there it behaves OK ....

The mission i experienced the shaking had Sunstag's WW2 V1 mod v1.3 in it, and this mod is no longer available so posting a track might be useless..

Here's a plain test track on the Normandy 2.0 map, also shaking, and the p51 is hard to control:  P51 test Normandy 2.0.trk

  12. That worked .... drove though the tunnel, and behold, no headlights on the Humvee, no lights in the tunnel, but the end was showing always during the long stint in it, and LoL; inside the tunnel the rain was falling just as bad as on the road towards it ... BTW the ww2 jeep from the assets pack looks quite better modeled.

  13. Thnx, tried to start moving, but for some reason i could only jump in to it but not move it, but it starts rolling backwards and off the hill.

I checked the mission in the ME, Player can drive was on, pressed F10 and selected the Humvee and set it to Unit Take Control .... nada, only the steering wheels react.

Then I loaded one of my own missions with a ww2 willys jeep and that worked fine. ??

  14. I just discovered this 'statictemplate' thing ..... copied a *.stm file with WW2 stuff, made on the Channel map, to my DCS.openbeta\StaticTemplate folder.

Now i wanted to import this whole caboose to a NEW empty Normandy Map 2.0 mission but it seems impossible.

Is such a template per definition only map related, in this case the channel map? ... Any tips ? Thnx.

ADDED: I changed the line ["theatre"] = "The Channel" to ["theatre"] = "Normandy" with notepad++ in the *.stm file, and it worked !

Of course the locations are not right, but it might be useful anyhow.

PS can you select or combine more than one differing item, like a group of Flak AAA and parked vehicles etc. some how and drag them together to a different location?

There were exactly five grass aerodromes on the Normandy 1944. All of them remained grass after the Normandy 2 update, and they've also added 13 more grass airfields, to a total of 18.

And now we are eagerly waiting for the newly announced airfields for seemingly more concrete strips like Manston and Biggin Hill on Normandy v2.0 ..
