jackd's post in Occasional black screens? Fix for DCS was marked as the answer
So finally the blackscreen issues i know have been fixed:
=========================
A friend and i had blackscreens on PC startup. Not always.
We both have NVIDIA RTX GPUs with 2 or more monitors attached.
My friend has a big TV screen, and two small 8 inch ones, and blames it the little ones cannot run at 60 Hz refresh rate, but some where about 60.8 Hz (higher). The fix seems to set all monitors at the same refresh rate (60Hz) He's got it fixed for a 5090 with new 8 inch monitors running at 60Hz.
----------------
I had those blackscreens for about 3 seconds a few times but only after bootup.
In my case i think it now was a loose connector inside my 10 years old second monitor: took it apart and cleaned all with some contact spray.
All seemed to work OK since, but i already bought an other monitor and now also swapped my NVIDIA RTX for a 9070 XT Radeon.
-----------------------------
However there also seems to be a general NVIDIA RTX only issue with blackscreens and windows 11 and the 50 series.
The weird thing is that only a few have them, some even all over the RTX range, and seemingly not related to other hardware like a motherboards, DIMMs etc.
NVIDIA forums are all over with tips and tricks, but every one i tried did not work.
Games like IL2 and DCS use quite some GPU power, make sure your Power supply van handle the top range CPUs.
Dust in your PCI slot for the GPU ?

jackd's post in Stuttering issue was marked as the answer
So i finally got a working DCS now with no e-cores running WITHOUT project lasso etc, IMO the easiest way
How? Create a desktop shortcut for DCS. then paste this line in to the top target boc:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start "DCS" /affinity FF "F:\- DCS World Openbeta\bin\DCS.exe"
(F:\- DCS World Openbeta\bin\DCS.exe is my game's location)
ADDED: Meant for Intel i-processors only? the FF is for an 8 main core processor like my 14900K, disables all the E-cores. F would be for a 4 maincore processor.

jackd's post in too many controller columns auto installing in DCS -- Fixed was marked as the answer
Yep, it's disabled but still the column is there.
However i just found the solution with USBdeview.exe ... disable these two and they're gone. ADDED it also fixed stuttering.

jackd's post in i9 12900k vs i9 14900k temperatures was marked as the answer
Just got enlightened on the IL2 forum: these TjMAX temps are about the headroom towards the max temp,
what matters is the Core Temp below, here under 30m heavy load running IL2 sturmovik:

Thnx, just found some backups i made and imported from that ... have not been 'playing' DCS a while, maybe some screw-up because of that.

jackd's post in Roll back latest game version DCS 2.8.8.43489 Open Beta was marked as the answer
Just stared it, great tip. Loaded the latest DCS Open beta in slot one. Do you need to save it somewhere before changes, and edit only a copied Game folder to previous build??
ADDED just started openbeta 2.8.7.42718 ... beats me, the same behavior, must be doing something else wrong !

jackd's post in Combined Arms ERROR - Unable to enter vehicle: vehicle control is not available was marked as the answer
My first attempt in the mission editor, place the attached file here for a Willys sight seeing trip through London WW2 in a nice summers atmosphere.:
......... \DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\WWII Units\Missions\CombinedArms\Single
Be warned, you'll be overrun by trucks, busses, even on park footpaths, and halfway 'cross bridges your Willys will submerge, but it's fun.
You'll need Normandy 2.0, WW2 Assets Pack, and Combined arms, and if you're an experienced ME expert, please add to this mission.
Use the mouse to view the progress of Willie in London.
UPDATED version: WWII CA Willie in London v4.zip
The trick is start the mission, pause and press F10, then set this at the top bar on the map :
Then press F7 'till you get this view:
Tune your driving controllers, i have left/right and engine power set to 2 Axis' on my Warthog throttle,
accelerator pedal RZ reversed, and tune Left/Right curvature to 59 BTW, and gear shifting to buttons to select forward and reverse.

jackd's post in Rudder and Elevater trim not working ... partly FIXED! was marked as the answer
Art_J posted: switch off Game Flight Mode in general Options.
In my Warthog/Saitek setup i needed to tune the combo axis set with some curvature around 40 and dead-zone of about 5.
With the Christen Eagle TRIM_HAT Nose UP or Down trim does not work in Flight Control Options; Game Flight Mode is off.
ADDED Tuning the Spitfire and P47 is still not easy, P51 is f.i. so i think i'll turn game flight mode on again.

jackd's post in Rudder and Elevator trimming not working? - FIXED! was marked as the answer
You are right, the axis needs tuning now, and i appear less drunk ... just tuned the Spitfire a wee bit .... Thanks for the tip.

jackd's post in Trackhat Opentrack sensor v2 tuning - FIXED! was marked as the answer
Well, i darkened my room, and it works reasonably well now ..
ADDED may 29: Opentrack v 3.2 software is out; and addressed the stray-light problems and it's far better now.
ADDED dec 2023: had a new windows installation and it did not work with other sim software than DCS.
Got it working there as i manually put the npclient and freetrackclient dll drivers in system32 and the 64 versions in sysWOW64 ....

jackd's post in Rudder X/Y controller bindings other than Z and X problem was marked as the answer
I got it organized. set axis somewhere in general axis commands, and then it was accessible in Flight control . Complicated.
