  1. Hi Snacko, I see to do that; however, some other post said I do this through Saitek software also, not understanding why I need to do that also? RandomToten and David OC--Thanks guys! that does help alot. BuzzU--I got F15C with Flaming cliffs, plus I bought Normandy Map with the asset pack. Thanks again all!
  2. Hi all, After 3 deployments with over 2.3 years under my belt away from computer gaming, I guess I am old, stupid, or out of time!?!?! My biggest problem getting back in sims: 1) How do I map my Saitek X-55??? Is there some easy way that will show me the mapping buttons besides me spending near 2 hours (that I spent and it did not work right)...I repeat after 2.3 years from computer sims, I am really rusty... 2) I have a Rift-S coming.. does that add even more complication to play this in VR? 3) Can I get a hand hold? (I do not have an ego).:helpsmilie: Thanks to the helpful ones! Face
  3. Chrissel, I would suggest shopping for a system with I7 chip and a 1080ti, thus you be well enough for DCS as for some future things coming out (Star Citizen hint hint..) ;)
  4. Yeah, I do agree that PCIe memory is nice, I do have a m.2 SSD on the PCI that runs DCS well enough.... I was just sitting here one day and looking at RAM usage and I was only using about 8 GB of my 64GB... thus got me brainstorming on the RAM Disk (just to do a hobby fun thing lol)... My Eagle Dynamics folder is only 55.7 GB as I just have FC3, Normandy and WW2 assets as of now. Thanks all for the contrasting thoughts of it, I might give the other Freeware a go over the weekend, but may wait till I double the RAM if ever ;)
  5. huh, does seem a bit more complicated than I expected. I will have to play with it over a weekend and see if I can come up with something. Reading the article, would it be suffice to say I also have to port the saved games directory to the ramdisk also, then have it sync again when I shut down? I used ImDisk Etherbattx.
  6. Has anyone attempted to put this game on a ram Disk? I have 64GB, created a ram Disk of 48GB.. put the DCS folder on. DCS wont start from the RAM Disk or from the C: drive now, had to delete ramdisk and reinstall DCS.?.?
  7. 1 More Noob question please? When I exit the game, it states "Failure to Authorize" something about I cannot play live and I can only play for 2 more days???? I did port my FC3 SN over from steam, is that the cause?
  8. Ahh cool, will give that a go. My err.... on the 2.5.5 ment .2... Thanks to you both that answered though.
  9. Hi guys, just getting back into flying with a 7 year break in service, that being said: Was on steam but decided to load directly. 1) I have FC3: I load up a fast mission and it sticks me about 5000 ft in my F-15C. I hit BVR as I know there is about 8 bandits 16miles out about 5-10K ft. In BVR, the VSD is set to 20 Mi and the Scan zone is set to like 12-XX My problem is- I use the R Shift- . to try to decrease scan zone... I also have it mapped to my X-55 on the hat using Infernus's profile.... Neither decreases the scan zone..it is stuck at 12-XX I then tried to move the TD slew down and it goes to 10Mi VSD scan range, but still cannot lower the scan zone...any leads? 2) With this nice summer discount, I would like to buy modules. I was looking at the A-10 campaign. Since I have FC3 that has the A-10 module in it, Do I have to still buy another A-10 module to get the campaign??? (I ask as there is nothing in the description that says if you have FC3 it would work....as it does with other campaigns listed) 3) It still shows me as running 2.5.0.... how do I update to 2.5.5? Thanks again all, hope to fly with you all soon!
  10. ---Oops, Steam Community answered, somehow my beta settings was set to 1.5.6 (even though I played 2.5.x the other day....)… please delete thread
  11. Hi guys, I really have been absent from this game for awhile, but wanted to revisit/been watching many videos and taking a few check rides..tonight when I loaded from my steam, it loaded to the 2.5.2 version. But on the screen, it said the update for 2.5.5 was available in the news. I then backed out of the game and looked at steam. It showed a DL occurring with an update of DCS. I then waited a bit, and came back to find that my steam game library showed "DCS World Steam Edition [stable-1.5.6]. So I loaded the game maybe thinking the 1. was a mistype...but no, when the game loaded it was the 1.5.6 version. Any suggestions?
  12. CJSO... my Track IR4 was sent from the Naturalpoint online store 1 day before the TrackIR5 release... how do you think I feel>?
  13. BTW.. if anyone knows where to buy this glove:... Please let me know! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLkfx6QxLfg
  14. WEll, upon your all advice to get the TrackIR, I did order the track IR4 and received it yesterday.... Only to get an email from NaturalPoint that the Track IR5 is now released... sigh LOL I apoligize that "my tone" appeared hostile... I have played too many flight sims that some Pretentious jerk felt that saying "read the manual" was the ultimate answer... Coming new to these forums and observing that comment as an answer to my first post... you could imagine my first mental thought process.. And I may have had a few brewskies in me when I replied... so I am sorry if I offended you. As you can see... from my extra time I took to lay out the steps to help others... I am here to help others over stupid crap that took me too long to figure out... (I work 12-13 hour days -- 5 days a week... Am I not suppossed to enjoy myself during the weekends?) AS FOR THE "NO BINDINGS" I found that if you open it in EXCEL.. I deleted all rows that didnt have a binding... Then I printed the remaining keys... As you can see it is still very difficult to scan through. I have been continuing to watch all training videos (2-3 times on some of them) --Maybe I need to lay off the beer :) But Falcon 4.0 was learnable... I am sure this will be also.
  15. Well I live in the states also.. and would pay extra for an english pit
  16. Well Joey.. you are no help.. I know the new manual is DL from the site.. as I am posting this... PLEASE READ THE FIRST THREAD FULLY BEFORE YOU ACT ON YOUR ARROGANCE. Per the manual on page 5-3 after you set the "K-041" switch to the on position... You are suppossed to Set the PVI mode selector to "PA6" (normal Operation) But if you watch the tutorials... you do not set the PVI switch to normal until after the 2nd engine pools.. thus a disconnect on "Manual" vs Training Video... Now.. .Joey.. since you are such an omnipotent simmer.. and call it the "PVI switch is by the PVI"... Please explain to me where the "PVI" area is...As me, my wife.. and my 16 year old daughter all looked at the manual... watched the tutorial briefing... and still cannot ascertain the "PVI" area of reference... Based on your animae avatar.. you probably are as lost as me.... Either way.. Your pretentious being lends you to be the self rightous matter of the subject (hence why many people lose interest to flight sims) as no one here can be helpful... I am sorry that I missed the small type on page 2-58 of the official manual that did point that out to me... But then again Joey.. if you were a cool person.. you could of told me that it was under the navigation control panel.. Sorry for the hostility.. but... pretentious people really do bother me... I have really wasted alot of time attempting to start this chopper... when some cordial person could have given me a reasonable, humanistic response... Either way... the manual is in disconnect with the actual start up procedures... thus this thread belongs where the devs/producers can monitor.
  17. But as many of you will see.. this really is a screwed up keyboard map.. I am all ears for other options?
  18. OK guys.. I want to preface this as I am not as sharp as most avid sim gamers out there... And I really get a gut wrenching feeling when someone asks a legitimate question... and they receive "look at the manual" as a reply. I have went over much of the 500 some odd page manual and still, I do not find a good keyboard map.... So I used the parser utility, which, I continue to laugh at the previous poster who told me to look at the manual... yet admited to not knowing the Parser Utility.... WTF? ANYWAYS... I used the parser utility as the manual stated... And I have wasted about 3 hours of my time attempting to adjust the parser utility output... (since no one could guide me to a better, more obvious, solution) NOW: when you run the Parser utility as detailed in the quick start guide: I recommend opening that text file in Microsoft excel. *** These instructions are for Microsoft 2007 excel: 1) Open Excel. 2) in the menu, choose open file and point to where your Parser made the .txt files 3) Choose one of the files (I made 2 keyboard maps- 1 for my Saitek x52 pro... the other for my keyboard) ----so the 2 files I choose were : ka-50_wasy Keyboard_Keyboard & Ka-50_Joystick_saitek X52 Pro Flight Controller 4) "Text import wizard 1 of 3" comes up. 5) Choose "delimited" as the option and click "Next" 6) On the next screen... you will see a box "Treat consecutive delimiters as one"--- Put a check in that box. 7) In the space under that... for "Text Qualifier put the " (quote) sign there. 8) Click "next" 9) Adjust your columns by double clicking between the A and B column and double clicking between the B and C column... 10) Do a print preview 11) Do a Print Well I hope I helped out some of you that are deemed by most the flight sim community as "idiots" like I am ... but... hey.. is my 2 cents :)-- and 4 hours wasted on a Sunday figuring this out :)
  19. As the sticky thread is closed :( And I am probably too late as it is closed :( But the manual is lacking a bit of quick reference: A: A nice keyboard map-- Please refer to FreeFalcon 5 documentation found here: http://www.freefalcon.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14530... (unfortunatly you would have to download the whole game to see the manual--- but given the depth of this flight sim.. I am sure you are already playing this :) ) the Keyboard map is awesome to easily see keys to press for certain functions. B: I have been searching for over 35 mins now for the "PIV mode selector" to put it to normal in the startup checklist... (located in the manual on page 5-3)..... come now... where the heck is the PVI switch??? Just some feedback from a stupid idiot customer that bought your awesome flight sim :)
  20. I would imagine 2 things: 1) FFB will utilize some computer resources even though you do not have a FFB stick. 2) As stated in the first post- some errors in FFB coding may occur with your simulation.. But I am a retard in programming.. so that is my only thought process :)
  21. Very awesome guys thanks alot, BTW, the same file is in my ED/KA50/config folder. Appears to work the same.
  22. Thanks for the reply, I am a big advocate of the manual also :) (I was being facetious with the flare key as I couldnt read the keyboard layout that was printed out from the parser program)--- You can read about the Parser program in the quick start Guide/PDF on the bottom of page 39. :) But if anyone knows how to easily edit what the parser outputs, I would be very greatful.. THanks again, Facetious
  23. Hey Cat.. once you do it.. can you walk me through step by step how you did it??? I also need to trun off all that stuff also... would appreciate it!
