  1. Update: Returned the T16000m HOTAS. I believe I shouldn't have to crack something open and mod it just so it will work the way it's supposed to, having bought it brand new. I got the Logitech (new grey) X56. I've read the reviews but think I have a good plan. Bought it "renewed" off Amazon for $200, paid $21 for the 3 year replacement plan. So if it starts to ge belly-up, I just get a new one. And I figure Logitech may get it right within that 3-year window. So far, this thing is great. So now I have a new question: Logitech setup through its software or just bind in DCS. I don't plan to use this HOTAS in any other sim. Thoughts?
  2. That worked! Thanks Slapstik.
  3. Just a side-note: Persian Gulf and Nevada have cold start for the F15. I haven't played with the mission editor yet, so this will give me a kick in the rear to do so.
  4. I will try that tonight. Thanks!
  5. Thanks! I will forward this to him. I also told him to set up his forum account.
  6. Yeah. I am considering the x56.
  7. A friend of mine FINALLY got a system that can run DCS. His first purchase is the F15C. He wants to learn the aircraft at its level but there is no cold start option in the Caucasus map. How can he get to a cold start scenario without creating a fast mission? Has anyone created a cold start mission file for this?
  8. Update: I am not a fan of the sliding throttle; it sticks a bit. But I found some vids on YouTube showing how to lubricate it with silicone grease. I will tackle that one this week.
  9. Just got home from work to try the fix. No go. And it is just the F15C. Works fine in the F18C and A10C. Scratching my head on this one.
  10. Thanks! Fortunately, this is only happening on the F15C.
  11. I'm using the TM T16000m with throttle and rudder pedals. I am able to map a lot of buttons. I mapped the toe brakes to my rudder, but the function is inverted. I have to press them down to release the brake and when I take my feet off the rudder, the brakes activate. No "game" boxes are checked.
  12. Purchased! Thanks for all the input guys!
  13. Good to know! Of all the reviews and suggestions I read between the X52/X56 and the TM, the TM wins out every time. It's a shame that Logitech stuff is breaking, because their stuff looks so similar to the real thing.
  14. Yeah, Virpil is pricey. The more and more I read up on the T16000m, I think that might be the way to go until I'm ready for the full Warthog set up. PLENTY of buttons to map in cockpit!
  15. So the X52, X52 Pro, or X56 are trash? Ive looked at the T16000, but I don't really like the throttle - I like the realism of the rocking throttle better.
  16. Good info! Thanks Svsmokey! I've been checking out the Logitech X52 and X56 also. They look to be the plastic version of the Warthog set.
  17. I know the best setup is the HOTAS Warthog set. But for now, I need something less expensive. Any suggestions? There are several options out there but it's hard to determine if the ratings are accurate. So I am coming to you folks with experience. Thanks!
  18. Thanks! Good information.
  19. I searched and couldn't find an answer. Just curious: Why do some modules have activation and some do not. For example, F-18C does not, yet A-10C does.
  20. You Guys Rock New member here. Been eyeballing the F-18 vs f-14 for a few weeks. I've been keeping an eye on the discussions and found this thread to be very informative! So I took the dive and jumped on the F-18 last night. WOW! Very glad I did - it's like night and day between it and the F-15. AND used my ED Miles for added discount on the F-16 ;). So thanks for the input here.
