  1. In follow up to my prior post. @mbucchia I think I have a clue, hint or something that may be involved with the micro stuttering issue I experienced in v2.8.2.35759. Now that I have reverted back to Open Beta v2.8.1.34667.2 I continued to use PimaxXR v0.3.0 but got an Open Composite crash when accessing F10 in a mission. (If you recall, I mentioned in my previous post that PimaxXR v0.3.1 an v0.3.2 seemed to introduce micro stuttering in Open beta v2.8.2.35759) So I uninstalled PimaxXR v0.3.0 and then installed PimaxXR v0.2.8. Now I am able to complete missions and access F10 Map without any issues in the rolled back version 2.8.1.34667.2 *I remember reading earlier last month that there were some event/timing type inconsistencies with the OpenXR implementation, so again, I wonder if the next update will sort this out for Pimax headsets. Just scratching my head... Cheers, Ajax out.
  2. I feel ya @Chev255 - One month later, I figured I would see if I would have better luck. I tried following all the instructions again. Updated to DCS OB v 2.8.2.35759 again Using PiTool v1.0.1.284 PimaxXR v0.3.0 (used v0.3.1 & v0.3.2 to no avail as well) OpenXR Toolkit v1.2.4 Applied the DCS.exe parameters --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR to my shortcut Everything works, but the micro stutters were just unbearable and made me sick. -------- Thought I would try to just run the previous way with OpenComposite, so I removed the parameters from the DCS shortcut (replaced the openvr_api.dll in bin) and DCS works fine until mid way through a mission. I accessed F10 and: I had these same issues the first time I updated and did troubleshooting in early February so I am reverting back to DCS OB v 2.8.1.34667.2 again. (Nothing worse than being 1/2 or even almost finished with the mission and having DCS crash.) But, the reason I am posting is because I want other Pimax users to know that there are other Pimax users that have spent many, many hours trying to get this to work with no success and have rolled back. I know we all really hope the next update corrects the issues. It will be great to make a step-by-step thread for Pimax users to help sort 3rd party software issues too. Thanks @everest101, we all appreciate the time and effort in your post. I also think it is worth noting to @mbucchia that I did notice more stuttering with PimaxXR v0.3.1 & v0.3.2 (just in case you had not heard that from anyone). And my hat tip to your work on helping try to sort these issues too. We are a strong community, even if it seems like most just lurk. The resources here are amazing, and it is a bit overwhelming to speak up with so much information and posts already existing for most topics. However, that being said, I am available to discuss my findings in detail if anyone cares, and until the next update, I'll just keep searching the threads to see if anyone else uncovers something I have missed or that works around the stuttering or crash issues. Ajax out.
  3. I stuck it out for about a week and have now reverted back to 2.8.1.34667 I would have liked to stuck it out till the next fix, but kept having DCS crash before I could complete a mission in my campaign. @BIGNEWY Please don't take this post as an insult or off topic, I think letting others know some of us have had to rollback is fair for the thread... (I really tried everything I could find to help out, learned some things about OpenXR and the toolkit, but in the end as everyone knows, crashes are frustrating). Hoping the next patch resolves things! Cheers Win10-64bit/32GB Ram/i7-9700K/RTX2080Ti/Pimax8kx/CougarHOTAS
  4. I should have clarified the openvr_api.dll that I use. It is 1.77MB (see posted image) Maybe is different? If not, I wish my procedure would have helped... Seems to be a tricky rascal - Cheers
  5. PIMAX Users! Remember to copy the openvr_api.dll back to the {dcs install}\bin folder after the update! Otherwise, you will get sporadic results at best when trying to run DCS. * I fussed for about 6 hours and almost rolled back until I found some old update instructions I had left for myself. Now DCS starts up like a champ every time. My procedure for starting DCS: 1. Start PITOOL 2. Launch OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality, click Mixed Reality Tab, then click Set as Active Runtime button. Close the window. 3. Launch PimaxXR Control Center, Click OK on the windows Error Dialog that will be displayed, then select the PimaxXR radio button on the Control Center and minimize the window. 4. Launch DSC from the PITOOL > My Games. (I created a shortcut for DCS that used --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR and re-imported the program back into PITOOL. Works every time now! I hope this saves someone else from 8KX frustration. Cheers!
  6. Love the product mate. Happy to support your effort & looking forward to the fix for "DCS World open beta 2.5.6.43453" Cheers
