  1. Thanks for the responses, we knew it would be a hit! We had talked about that, and most likely will be developing something along those lines for member access. Gotta keep some of the good stuff for our members, *grin* As for the A-10 module, yes we will be supporting that as well, and I believe that Snacko has made contact with the ED dev team about that very thing. ~S~
  2. ~S~ Greetings and salutations, This post is to announce the release of a new Flash cockpit trainer for DCS:Blackshark. If you ever flew Falcon 4, then you are probably familiar with the cockpit trainer for that sim. This is very similar, but much more detailed. When you mouse over buttons, switches, and guages, a pop-up window will give a brief description of that item. Some items are clickable giving you an even more detailed description. This Cockpit Trainer was developed by a fellow War Hawks member, WH_Snacko, for our squadron Training Module. But once we saw the level of detail Snacko had put into this, we knew we could not keep it for ourselves. War Hawks Training Module Full War Hawk members have access to all training courses, but some are open to the public. The cockpit trainer can be accessed by clicking on the above link. You can then scroll down to find the KA-50 Cockpit Trainer in the Blackshark specific area of our training module. You will be prompted to log in or view as a guest. Guest access will allow you to view this trainer as well as a few other courses. If you have any questions or would like to join us for full member access to other courses, feel free to contact us from the War Hawks Website. Thanks to WH_Snacko we now have a stand-alone version available as well. Currently hosted on a mediafire account here: Stand-alone DCS:Blackshark Cockpit Trainer Respectfully submitted,
  3. ~S~ all, There are several squadrons listed in another thread on these forums, but since this thread has been resurrected, I'll drop our squadron into this list as well. The War Hawks are currently recruiting any and all adults that are looking for a drama free on-line experience, regardless of your flight sim experience. We are a mature group of simmers that enjoy flighting and fighting together in multiple sims, such as DCS:Blackshark, Rise of Flight, ArmA2, and IL-2. A few of our members also fly LOMAC, Falcon 4AF, and more. Most of our members are currently from the Eastern and Central US time zones, but we do have a few from the Mountain and Pacific US, as well as a couple from the "other side" of the pond. (England, Scotland) A few key points about this squadron: 1. No "command staff". Every member will have an equal voice in matters of the squadron, from what campaign we run next to who can become a full member. While I don't expect everyone to always get along, I would hope that we could all be mature adults about issues and work them out as such. We don't want members who are just cogs. We want people who are invested and contribute. 2. No minimum flight time requirements. We all know real life can sometimes get in the way of our fun. And having flight time requirements can put an undue burden on folks when they need it the least. The best way to keep folks involved in a squadron is to give them a variety of events to participate in. We currently fly together in IL-2, Blackshark, and Rise of Flight as well as practice teamwork in ArmA and ArmA2 in both our own missions and on other public servers. 3. A regular training program where we can all learn and discuss tactics and procedures that best represent the "simulation" side of IL-2, Blackshark, Rise of Flight, and others rather than the arcade style of training and play other squadrons of this type practice. That is, information based on real world tactics, as they apply to IL-2, Rise of Flight and games beyond. This will be available from entry level up through advanced tactics. And more importantly it will be presented in a fun and relaxed environment. With this in mind we have started development of our on-line Training module. This module will allow our members to attend courses relevant to the sims we fly and will be available on their time schedule, not just during scheduled events. This approach will lead to a more uniformly trained squadron that can work together in any setting with minimal overhead. And also allow new members to get "up to speed" on how we operate much faster than conventional training. What we require: Ambition: While we are not the traditional definition of hardcore -- many of us have a busy real life that does not allow for unlimited game-time -- we do focus on full switch difficulty settings with limited mods enabled.. We care about the game; we want to progress our skills and share in the enjoyment of the sims we support. We are therefore driven, organized and dedicated and want members that share similar drive. We have no rules or expectations about how much time one should spend in game, but we do want people who try to contribute in the time that they do spend. Social skills: We are a community of friends of all ages and backgrounds that will survive comings and goings of on-line games and promote true friendships that will be enjoyed for years to come. We want people who are social and are fun to play with. Being fun on comms is a plus. Being active in the forums is an asset. Intelligence and Ability: We want players who are willing to learn, so that they can eventually be as skilled as possible. It matters not if you've played a particular game for years and years, or just bought it. Everyone should always be willing to learn, including the old crusty veterans. ***We also favor those who can spell and use full sentences.*** :smartass: We've just finished a recruiting video of some of our activities over the last couple weeks. Check it out here: Well if you've read this far your quite possibly a good fit for us, so feel free to check out our website and post up an application. Typical response time on our applicants is less than 12 hours, just make sure we have a good contact e-mail address. *grin* Hope to see you soon, ~S~
  4. ~S~ I personally don't understand folks that say they are afraid to try multi-player because they might not measure up. When you were growing up, did you teach yourself basic subjects like reading? writing? or arithmetic? I doubt it. More than likely you went to school, public or private doesnt matter. But you were around other people all learning the same subject material. That is what life with an online squadron should be like. Learning and sharing information together. Granted, there are some squadrons out there that may not be a good fit for you, because of timezone, settings they prefer, or just basic leadership styles. But, I'm sure there is at least one that will be exactly what you are looking for. Take a look at the Squadrons Thread (first post, page three, *grin*) and see what folks have to offer. Check out their websites to see who's active. Then see about flying with them. I myself don't care for public servers much because there will always be the guy trying to prove his e-peen is bigger than your's or whatever. But a good squadron should teach you what you need to know to survive in the electronic battlefields we all fly and fight in.
  5. ~S~ all, Interesting ideas on both sides of the fence here. I can understand the original author of a mission wanting to keep his product "pure" if it is in fact a well designed scenario. But what if its a good concept or story behind the mission but has WAY to many enemy SAM's within range of your takeoff, so as soon as you launch you start getting warning messages? Or even worse, you find the ultimate single player mission and want to edit it so you can fly it with your squad mates. No can do if its locked. I have dozens of missions for ArmA that are locked and worthless for just this reason. I would hate to think the same thing would be happening to Black Shark. Rather than "force" people to give cud-o's in appreciation threads, I more suspect people would just not download the mission to try out to begin with. I can't remember the last time I played an actual single player mission. But we, the War Hawks do fly in multi-player several times a week in co-op missions where teamwork wins the day. Several of those missions were originally designed as single player that I or other squad members have changed to add multi-player capability.
