Is there a good cockpit layout schematic anywhere?
WH_Boomer replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
~S~ Well its not exactly a "print out" but several months ago, I created a flash Cockpit Familiarization Trainer which you can read about here. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1029624#post1029624 Or try it out yourself from this link: Hope this helps, -
I guess because its better than calling it beta 6 which a lot of people are considering it, given all the issues both new and old. Just sayn' :helpsmilie: ~S~

WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
WH_Boomer replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
No, that's the idea of immersion. :pilotfly: Amen +1  Negative on spectators or other people not "in-game" talking through Guard channel. Ejected players could communicate on Guard simulation the use of an ELT or other hand held radio. People dropping into the channel just to "chat" can always type a text message in Teamspeak if its that important. Just my opinion, -
WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
WH_Boomer replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
On a public server, I would say this probably is an issue, but since public servers, most likely, won't be using TARS due to other Export.Lua issues previously mentioned, then it shouldn't be a problem. For squad based operations though, especially those where immersion is key, then only being able to talk to people "through the radio" and then only as long as its tuned to the proper channel is the best solution. Unless you like to pretend you're Luke Skywalker getting messages from Obi-wan Kenobi, in which case the "immersion" available from TARS probably isn't important to your squad to begin with. :prop: -
~S~ Greetings all, Following in the wake of our DCS:Blackshark cockpit trainer, I have recently finished a "beta" version of a cockpit trainer for the A-10C. This should allow folks to familiarize themselves with their new virtual office when they don't have time for a full gaming experience. But lets get right to the reason for this post. I present to the DCS:A-10C community our Cockpit Familiarization Trainer. A-10C Cockpit Trainer

The reason it’s called Standby is in redundancy of the systems. When you first turn on the battery, you are energizing the DC system and the Inverter will provide AC power for instrumentation. From TO IA-IOA-I A-10A Flight Manual As for shutting down the APU, from the A-10A Checklist in the same manual: So with the possibility of random system failures, it stands to reason that prematurely shutting down the APU, could lead to INU failure.

What online Squads are gonna fly A10C hardcore?
WH_Boomer replied to Steel Jaw's topic in Multiplayer
Howdy Rat, We've got several West Coasties and we've picked up a couple more this week. A few of our members from other time zones have no idea what a bed is for. *grin* I'm Central time myself and I left that crew at 4AM this morning. We typically schedule events around 9PM or so Eastern, but with the influx of Pac time folks we are working on scheduling later events as well, so there should be plenty of people available to fly with. -

Mower you can tell your "friend" to check out the War Hawks, because this sounds exactly like what we have been doing with all of the sims we support. While all of our members won't be focused exclusively on DCS:A-10C, (we also have members flying Rise of Flight, IL-2 Blackshark w/FC2.0, and ArmA OA) we do have many that will and are getting more applications daily. Here is a link to our recruiting post in the multiplayer forum here. War Hawks Recruiting Post -
AIRPORT SECURITY Escort and CAS Mission
WH_Boomer replied to wolfhnd's topic in User Created Missions General
Good stuff Wolfhnd! Thanks! -
Is anyone working on something like this for the DCS Series? ACRE v1.0 - Advanced Combat Radio Environment - Official Thread (ArmA2 to TS3 Plugin) The Readers Digest Condensed version of what it does: It allows for realistic radio communications between players using ingame radio objects and Teamspeak 3. Broadcast distance is determined by several factors such as distance between radio stations, terrain, or objects (ie Buildings) between stations, and power output and frequency of selected radios. Everyone remains in the same Teamspeak Channel, and depending on the ingame radio settings you have you are able to communicate with only the people on the same frequency. If you change frequency, or select a different radio, then you can communicate with a different set of people.

+1  While many of us like to utilize "real world" tactics and procedures in our sims, it's still just a game, and driving people away with an elitist attitude most certainly is not the best for the future of ED or simming in general.
-
And that's the difference between the War Hawks and the 104th. You've built an "Academy" that folks must watch a video and then copy what they see, while we've built a community where we all enjoy a variety of sims. Our focus is on teamwork and enjoyment not rote memorization. Apples and oranges if you ask me. :smilewink:

Shame on me for sharing a training aid that one of our members created? ~S~

Thus one of our members created this little jewel. War Hawks DCS Training Information. Once you're on that page click on either the Nato or Russian Equipment list (left hand column) to get a Shkval view of various vehicles. Mouse over the view and it will change to a color slide with name of what the vehicle actually is. The DCS Object Viewer is still a WIP, but does have some useful information. Enjoy, ~S~

I'm pretty sure you're not talking about the War Hawks website. The Recruitment page is still working fine. Automatic registration is turned off on our website. Take a look at the About Us page and see if what we have to offer is what you're looking for. We're really not set up to be a public forum. Not trying to turn this into a recruitment thread, just want to make sure people don't spread bad information. Ohh and BTW 104th, we really appreciate you're hosting our Blackshark Cockpit Trainer It's the best recruitment tool we could offer.

Sorry for the slow reply Snacko. Here's the mission we flew the other night that you asked me to post here. We use this in the War Hawks for FAM Flights in the A-10A. Its a simple series of waypoints with a target range located at the last one before heading back home. Fun formation flying through the valleys and mountains too.. The target range is designated by a TRP from waypoint 10, but the diamond will show up from any waypoint so long as you have the HUD in a weapon mode. No wingman required, and it works for each aircraft in multiplayer whether you're alone or with a buddy. You can even test it on the ramp without having to get airborne. Simply call up the weapons HUD and you'll see the "X'ed out" diamond on the side of the HUD. Get airborne and head towards the range and you'll see the diamond. ~S~ War Hawks A10 FAMa Flight.miz

By design? I can't imagine why it would be designed this way. It sure makes following directions from a human FAC harder than it should be. Below is an exerpt from a discussion we had on our War Hawks forums about using the Blackshark in a FAC role. The same theory can be applied to any fixed wing FAC, such as the OA-10, as well. The following quote is taken from the debriefing on the May 15th FAC Training Session we had with Flaming Cliffs 2.0 and Blackshark. Attached is a pdf of the Forward Air Controller Concepts we are using in our flights as well. Taken in part from the information provided on SimHQ about the subject. ~S~ all, In order to provide further training aids to the community, the War Hawks have decided to make public our latest addition to our training program. That is, the Shkval View Trainer. In conjunction with our Training Module. this page will be used to share external links to Training videos and other user made information. For example, the Shkval Views in the left column were created by our own Wolfhound. Click the link to see what each unit looks like through The I-251 “Shkval” Electro-Optical Targeting System and mouse over it to see what it actually is. Enjoy,

~S~ Kurtz, Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. Its one of my "must have" mods. I found it on Checksix-fr.com but can't access that website right now, so I have attached it below. C6_1240320228.zip

Ok resolved. It seems this has been a "feature" for some time.. Search finally found this thread: Su-25: Problem with INS alignment - wrong HSI heading
-
~S~ all, While working on our FAC training in the War Hawks, we've come across an odd issue with the SU-25T HSI and HUD heading indications. That is, they indicate different headings. To verify this, I made a simple mission with each aircraft type starting on the ramp and simply taxied a circle as if doing a compass swing. All other Russian aircraft worked fine and indicated correctly. But the SU-25T HSI began rotating rapidly once I had completed only about 90 degrees of the turn. It settled out at almost 180 degrees off, then rotated back the opposite direction, finally settling out at approximately 120 degrees off as seen in the pictures below. I do hope this can be fixed soon, as we had hoped to utilize the SU-25T in conjunction with the KA-50 Blackshark in FAC roles. Not being able to fly a bearing line accurately makes this near impossible.
-
~S~ Pixel, This sounds like a great idea, particularly since the War Hawks are currently developing our own tactics and procedures guide for using the Blackshark in the FAC role. We've been using the TS3 plugin for ArmA2: A2T Thread on Bohemia Interactive forum with pretty good results, so using this for Blackshark, FC 2.0, and beyond, would certainly be a welcome addition to our operations. We have several members who would be more than willing to help with testing this for you. You can contact us at our website linked below or PM me here for more details.

Thanks to WH_Snacko we now have a stand-alone version available as well. Currently hosted on a mediafire account here: Stand-alone DCS:Blackshark Cockpit Trainer ~S~ and enjoy,
