I had no idea we had manual manuevering flaps lol
You'd only notice if you had an analog mapping for it. If you're using a flaps toggle or flaps up/flaps down assignments there would be no way to notice.
The Virpil throttles have that analog lever sitting right there, so it was a natural mapping.

Generally speaking, the CADC program will always give you the best wingsweep for your current speed. There's very little reason to ever mess with manual sweep as the gains are either negligible (manual back for acceleration) or potentially harmful for the aircraft (manual forward at high speed to increase instant turnrate).
I have read in a couple places, pilots would manually change their sweep to deceive their opponents in ACM. I really doubt they were damaging their planes, though it's certainly possible some did at first and that NAVAIR responded to stop that with standing orders at procedures that went to the squadrons. IOW, oversweeping was probably the general rule rather than undersweeping.
At the end of the day this is a sim, what works for you works for you, just saying there's ways about this that don't wreck the jet.
Simulation does give certain luxuries that Fleet pilots would have never had... not only in wasting missiles and fuels, but in overG... and damaging the plane in general. Hard to see how to address that outside of the squadron environment or a grading system after that would mitigate the otherwise simple logic of kills vs deaths.

HB have shown their own deck crew models though and IIRC the ATC is built into the game, as were already have it kinda (incomplete and inconsistent)...

F-14D
Could dovetail with with F-14B Upgrade, too in the same way F-14A and B (are supposed to)

I'm willing to bet that if LNS would be asked "Why not the F4U-1 or -1A instead of the -1D?" your answers would be similar or the same as the reasons I stated. Hopefully Marianas will not be the only PTO map in DCS.
Midway would be nice and doesn't seem like it should be too hard, relatively speaking.
But then we'd need Wildcats.if not Dauntless and Devastators... to say nothing of the appropriate A6M Zero, and Kates and Vals.

Would like to see the elevators working along with the ready room and LSO station but all these are behind the functional ATC, deck crews, and lights for my priority preference.

This had happened to me a couple times and can't really figure out why. VKB GF2 and MCG Pro. I'd say about 30 to 40 degrees. I'll hold stick forward, try to trim nose down without effect & sometimes need to roll or reorient the aircraft and then seems to be normal.

I could not launch DCS at all in 2.5.6 for some reason so went back to stable.

In my mind I was thinking you'd need something like how a cassette tape deck works, only allowing you to have one button pressed at a time (yes I know they also allow more than one but you get the idea). The rotation you just do like those A6 ones you have there, cylindrical button body, a slot that wraps around like a "screw" that would probably interface with a pin or some kind of guide, and then copy how cassette tape players push other buttons up when you press another.
Something like that should be printable right? Cassette players should be cheap enough to find at goodwill or other old electronics stores.
Anyone have a design like this in STL format?
These buttons are deep in my mind and I want them for the at least the air flow (especially if I do an F-14D or hypothetical F-14E build) moreso than the display switches (in which they disappeared from the F-14D).

These are epic!

Get the F/A-18 if you plan on enjoying the most DCS has to offer. F-14 if you are fan of iconic jet which is way outdated now but has superb simulation and feel in comparison. One is a jack of all trades, master of none while other is dedicated fighter designed for only one purpose.
That was true originally though we already have the Bombcat with essentially the same dumb bomb ordinance (mk 82, 83, 84) with laser guided weapons GBU-10, 12, 16, 24, etc with LANTIRN while the Hornet excels with more advanced weaponry (JDAM and JSOW especially) and general technology.
Additionally you will be more engaged with the systems in the hornet while in tomcat a baby can fly since the jester AI does all the system management for you.Jester certainly helps with target detection and identification more than anything though since selecting through the radial menu vs the MFD, etc I'd call a wash. Jester definitely don't help actually fly the plane the FBW is much more forgiving in the Bug vs the older tech of the Cat.

I most want a mature F-14D and 2004 era F-14B (perhaps that as a sequel module with hypothetical Super Tomcat 21 F-14E). Though can see the appeal of Cold War scenarios with late 1970s, early 1980s high viz F-14A as well, it's probably last on my personal list.
Iranian Cats would be great for adversaries, no doubt. Doubt we'd see Fakour 90 or anything like that, though so limited to early AIM-54A...

Yeah deleting that file did it. Well I moved it into a new subfolder, Thanks! I did note that the right and left were off big time (L_TOP was 1.424930 and R_TOP was 1.095000) everything else was much closer. Curious how they'd get so far off.

I have always been hitting the x on this and have been fine for a few months. Just now though I noticed one eye was different than the other (apparently on elevation) and now the WMR window isn't coming up anymore. It's most disorienting but I can close one eye and bring up the settings but not that initial WMR screen. WMR Home and Elite Dangerous seemed fine, so just DCS.
1) Anyone see anything like this?
2) Any way to get that debug setting window back?
-
Wondered what was. Duplicate? Ugh. Waste of space.
-
Yeah I got the coupon and used it. Not as good a deal as standalone, but 1) pretty good and 2) better than nothing.
-
I had that happen a bunch when I was new. Wasn't sure if I got (marginally) better or they're was a patch but haven't gone into a spin in awhile...
-
I wouldn't say impossible but definitely inconvenient. Pause/ escape, take headset off, go to browser, put on headset, unpause...

Hadn't noticed this in awhile but hit me last night on Bankler's trainer. I usually land and launch at least 3 times but would not launch me for anything, so had to quit and practiced aerial refueling instead.

They don't have to be 512 x 512. I've been using high res ones. Perhaps should see if it's bloating my miz files or if it's just converting it?
-
From my personal experience, since I prefer them to RTB rather than punching out, whenever they call bingo, I send them rtb. So far they always made it. They seem to go into a more fuel conservative mode then as they do not try to keep up with you anymore, but I could be wrong, so please take it with a grain of salt.
Heh noticed my wingman ran out of fuel once about waypoint 2. I was watching him after I finished the mission and he raised and lowered his landing gear 4 or 5 times on the approach, though he did land. And he was taxing around all over the place and finished just before I landed lol.

Can't reiterate that enough! Last thing you want is to meticulously set 8 points and forget to undesignate the last --> ripple firing through all of the others with the last designate!!! :megalol:
Nope. Never done that myself. Nope. No...............
That might have been me last night lol. Finally getting back in the Hornet regularly after a long run in the Tomcat and trying JDAM and JSOW (especially the Cat don't have em and no F-14D anytime soon).

You're not claiming an F-16 with full load and external tanks is pulling more than 4-5G are you?
-
Yeah would love to see more on this. Speaking of your projects, still gonna do YF-23 (my favorite plane ever with the F-14 a close second).
Forrestal and F-14A?
in DCS: F-14A & B

Beaver tail, maybe chinpod, no GPS dome on the back.
