  1. @gillesdrone

Thank you kindly for your consideration regarding this matter.

Unfortunately, I have and use only 1 joystick. But again, I do appreciate that you have provided a possible solution for those who do have and use 2 sticks.

    Have a great day.

  2. There are several functions that you can program into the Collective such as Camera Slew etc as is the case for the Cyclic. It really depends on what Hotas you have and how many buttons is has to be programmed. But certainly there is more to them than just the Axis'.

    I hope this helps.

PS> If you are trying to fly with one hand only, there are Cyclic Sticks that come in Left Handed and Right Handed versions.

Rudder pedals are definitely handy (especially with helicopters).

  3. I can assure you that Dooom's Script certainly DID work really well. I have no idea if it will still work in ME now. It may require some modification.

But I flew in MANY Missions created by Dooom in DoW (Dogs of War) server a few years ago. The missions were of the finest quality and the flak was deadly (but could be modified).

  4. Okay. The first thing I did was run a Repair.

    Problem Resolved.

I just don't know why I didn't think to do that in the first place like I have with almost every other update ?

    Anyway, thanks again.

PS> You are welcome to Delete this Thread if it serves no purpose other than to provide inaccurate Bug info.

  5. I just tried jumping into the CE2 for some race practice and discovered that the Pitch and Roll are not working at all.

    Both Axis are in RED.

In fact, when I first looked, I could see my Settings had added Pitch and Roll to My Throttle as well as the Stick. Thinking that was the problem, I eliminated those redundant settings, leaving only the Stick settings.

However, the whole Pitch and Roll "lines" in the DCS Settings/CE2 Axis are RED still.

What was in the latest update that could have broken this ?

I hope it is fixed BEFORE next weekend when VARS may well have its next race and some of us would like to practice !! ???

  6. I'm pretty sure I was flying the "L" at the time but then if I remember correctly, someone else was flying the "M" at the same time and was also having problems with it. Although in his case, I think NVG's come on after repeated keyboard key commands.

I checked my hotas controls in DCS Options to find everything set up but even using key commands I couldn't get the NVG's to work. Only the sun visor.

  7. Among other issues such as No Directional Sound (any aircraft in the area or missile fired in the area .... there is no way to tell which direction it is coming from) or just No Sound for things like the Fuel Pump OR from the RWR, I noticed today that there is No NVG's in the Gazelle now also.

Everything is still set up correctly in my DCS Hotas Options. The Function simply doesn't work.

PS> I don't know if it works in SP or not. I just know these things do NOT work in MP.

  8. Startup - Fuel Pump Switch makes no noise or at best, intermittent noise for a spit second.

I don't know if this is PolyChop or ED but I now find it more difficult to determine the Direction a sound is coming from. It doesn't seem to matter which way I look, it all sounds the same ... like I"m surrounded by multiple jets ! ... sort of !

And an aircraft in the area sound about the same as an AA missile launch.

Something is different with directional sound anyway.

  9. Download is much smaller. ~14GB download unpacks to 42.

    I don't think so.

I started with a download which unpacked and installed and then the updater started to get a 40,797.6MB download which is taking FOREVER to finish downloading.

However, it is downloading faster using the Optional "HTTP" Method of downloading.

I'm sure I still have at least another hour of DL'ing before I'll be able to fly though.

  10. In short, the ONLY Map/Terrain that is FREE is the Caucus Map which comes free with DCS World. Not a bad deal and certainly one of the best and most popular maps (for that reason ... more people can join in the fun without extra expense).

If you have a tight budget, I would consider purchasing only the Straight of Hormuz Map.

I don't think much of the "France"map and other than specific Campaigns and Training, there isn't anything (or much) on the NTTR Map that you can't see or do in the SoH Map.

These are of course, My Opinions only.

  11. I was thoroughly satisfied with the Trees we Had. I don't see much advantage of making them any more realistic, especially at 10,000+ feet or anything over 400 mph.

However, I have long since felt that their Scale is off a bit with regards to Height. At least when compared to some buildings or measured using Radar Altimeter in the Gazelle (which may be anything but accurate as far as I know).

  12. My recommendation is a MUCH Bigger SSD.

I had and still use a 250GB SSD dedicated for DCS, but I could clearly see it was going to be Full far sooner than I like.

Then I was basically forced into purchasing and building a Brand New Computer. It was at that time that I chose to invest in a 1TB SSD (M2) for Windows and DCS ... and a few other things. Now I have the 250GB setup for Page File and a couple other minor things and I have Legacy Hard Drives for Data/Photo/Document etc Storage and a smoke'n setup for that which requires more speed.

This is the Drive I got for Window and DCS

I highly recommend it (or one of equal storage capacity).

PS> This most recent Update is a Grotesquely Large Update. I hope it's worth the 7 hours of downloading I have to do in order to complete the download.

That is to say, I hope it Fixes more than it Breaks ! What are the chances ?

  13. Well ffs I would have NEVER figured that out.

This is the first and only Module that I recall having to set the page changing keys on my own.

They have always been the same keys for each and every module that I have and they all came that way.

My KB on/off and mark current location controls have always worked in the Harrier Tutorials. Only the Next Page/Prev Page stopped working.

Thank you @Razor18 to turning me on to this solution. I was all but ready to give up on these tutorials. You just saved me a ton (more) frustration.

  14. @baltic_dragon

Do you happen to know if the Kneeboard Issues are related specifically to your Tutorials or is this a DCS/ED thing ?

The reason I ask is because I don't think I have had any issues with the Kneeboard while online in MP or any SP flights. It seems to only affect me in your tutorials.

This makes several of your tutorials a bit lacking simply because some of the pertinent information is said to be on the Kneeboard.

The issue I have found in all of the tutorials (that I have done to date) is that I am unable to Change ANY Pages. I get the First Page ONLY.

Again, this issue may exist in other scenarios but I am not aware of them.

  15. I don't think there is anything wrong with the collective.

It is a light chopper and therefore unlike the Huey, it doesn't drop like a stone when you reduce collective.

In fact, I don't think the collective works the same in the Gazelle as it does other/heavier choppers. The collective doesn't seem to control altitude like other choppers such as the Ka-50. The cyclic seems to have about as much control over altitude as the collective.

For sure it is it's own chopper and therefore has it's own unique characteristics. I don't think the flight model needs any attention, especially when multiple RL SA342 pilots have flown this Module and say it's as close as you are going to get in a Sim. It's just Different. And again, I think what each of us experiences is weighed against other choppers we've flown or expectations we may have in advance as well as the differences of HOTAS's used.

After watching "Flying Soldiers" Episode 3, I learned allot about the sensitivity of the controls and tuned my Cyclic to reflect the actual aircraft's sensitivity and range of movement.

  16. The only difference between what I observed and that which imacken mentioned is with regards to imacken's #4 observation.

I could always easily get back to the DMT on the Right MPCD by pressing Sensor Select Aft 2 times (or 1 time when the tracker crosshair is showing).

I'm guessing the Tutorial Procedures are correct even if some of the Tutorial Mission Scripting isn't working. I'm betting the issues are related towards something lacking in the Harrier's programming or DCS's.

In the meantime, I have parked my enthusiasm for the Harrier (again) for a while until a few more things are working correctly. I look forward to a day when most things work so I can really enjoy this aircraft.
