I've installed and been running the Hornet for 3 days on my new rig: I9 7900x with 16 gigs of DDR4, 2 SSD's in raid 0, Oculus and Warthog. I didn't even bother OC'ing anything. CPU is still at 3.3 and will probably stay there. The sim is running smooth with visibility set to extreme, sliders all the way to the right (except smoke and Gamma), MSAA x2 (x4 makes it even more fuzzy in Oculus). The only major problem I had was the sim crashing upon exit from main menu after flying any mission... just about every time! Yesterday's big update didn't fix that issue either.
Today I decided to put 16 more gigs of memory and after 4 hours of tinkering with different scenarios, flying multiple long missions without rebooting, etc. - haven't experienced any crashes or hiccups whatsoever. Hopefully that continues. I have no idea whether adding more memory was the real fix but that was the only thing that changed.

Just downloaded the update today. The TDC works great as far as I'm concerned. I've set it up as axes on my Warthog. I gave it 2 clicks of dead center and reversed Y axis. Hopefully we'll see full functionality implemented at some point :)

I've only tried gassing up from S3 in "Instant action" mission. So far no issues with alignment and/or airspeed. Once I'm in observation, stabilized or pre-connect I don't even pay attention to HUD. My eyes are on the tanker and by jockeying the throttles (I guess you can call it "walking") I'm usually able set up a stable closure at or below 5 knots. AI tanker starts to orbit (just like real ones do) - no problem there. But... as soon as I plug in pushing the basket in a little, the probe goes through the basket... perhaps it's me not easing up on power on time or...
btw, I could swear that this AI S3 puke tapped on the rudders couple of times just to spice it up! :/
I know, I know - more practice.
Edit: Oh, forgot to mention I'm using Oculus rig. It's a bit fuzzy but the 3d effect makes a huge difference for me. I just wish I could scrounge pair of "gloves" somewhere so I can punch buttons quickly.

Hey guys
I've got a relatively decent PC:
i5 750 Quad Core @ 3.8GHz (100% stable)
8GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
4870x2
TrackIR 4 Pro
2 x 128GB SSD for OS and game installs
Win7 Ultimate 64-bit edition
I'm running at 1920 x 1080, everything maxed except water at normal, mirrors off, 4xAA, 4xAF. The game generally runs very smooth, but overcast clouds bring the frame rates plummeting. Performance is fine when I'm above or below them, but as soon as I get within about 200 metres of the clouds, my frame rate starts going all over the place - dropping down very low then increasing, then dropping, increasing, etc until I pull away from the cloud layer.
It happens on any mission I've flown with clouds (F15 campaign mission #2 and SU25 bad weather solo mission) - while the rest of the mission stays around 60fps, as soon as I get close to the clouds the jerk-fest begins.
I remember this was a problem with the original LOMAC, but a cloud mod fixed the problem. Unfortunately I've just tried Bobocop overcast cloud mod 3.1 and it doesn't work with FC2, removing clouds entirely.
Any suggestions or overcast mods that work with FC2?
I did have some CTDs when I flew above overcast, good fps tho'
I disabled Adaptive AA (ATI 4890OC - dr. v.10.3) and that seemed to
have fixed this problem.
(AMD Phenom955BE @3.6, 8 gigs of DDR3)

Lava, you saved me a lot of time!!! Thanks!

I had very limited time to tinker with the setup.
Can anybody point me to the right axis for left and
right throttles?

Just got FC2 installed and flew couple of training missions to get the feel...
Avery time I punched thru an overcast... screen froze.
Disabling Adaptive AA and ATI's overdrive did the trick for me.
Frame rates are great and everything looks good except for "banding"
or flickering of the mountain textures.
1920x1080 - Everything set on High, water-normal, civ traffic-on,
AMD phenom X4 BE 955 (at 3.6), 8 gigs DDR3, Win 7 64,
Radeon 4890OC - 4xAA, 16xAS
16 gigs of memory v. 32 gigs

Good points... I should have mentioned in my post that the decision to throw in another 16 gigs was not entirely based on troubleshooting DCS Hornet but it worked out well :D
It would be nice though to figure out why this event coincided with fixing the sim exit crashes. I'll try to tinker with it some more or... perhaps I shouldn't ;/
