  1. My INS wasn't aligned and magnetic heading on HSI was showing 310 although I was lined with Galeznik runway 10. So it seems that mag heading in HSI is obviously tied to INS. Does Mirage have traditional magnetic compass, one that would work without INS? It feels strange that plane doesn't have one as a backup.
  2. Today I tried again to see if there are any improvements after recent update. On the same track I got about 0.3nm off after INS alignment, cold start and 40nm fly to the waypoint. Which is a bit better than before but ... now my INS radar update is broken. I tried assigning keyboard, hotas no go. Even if I press button in the plane it doesn't light up INS UPDATE and VAL buttons. Weapons off, radar on, radar altimeter on, OBS on, INS in NAV mode, diamond visible. What I am missing here?
  3. Just found this one. "INS accuracy will drift with time; this can occur for many different reasons. Older stabilised platform INS (1970’s and early 1980’s) may have position errors of 2 nautical miles (nm) per hour. Modern strap-down LRG INS tend to have error rates of 0.6 nm/hr."
  4. Some of you posted that normal drift is 1nm/hour. There is a graph in this wikipedia article which shows precision of about 650m. Are there diffent classes of INS systems? Is 1nm based on reference system or it is just DCS interpretation of the whole thing?

  6. I am trying to say that gyro drift feels totally unrealistic. Cessna 172 with ADF/NBD (1940's tech) flown by decent pilot outbound in pitch black should have less than 0.5nm error over 40nm distance. I have hard time believing that military relies on such low precision device. What would be a real life purpose of device like that? You can't target anything nor you can fly around in bad weather as well.
  7. I noticed some youtube videos where guys were posting night takeoff's and day look like a daylight :). For me it's all dim and absolutely equal in both modes.
  8. It seems weird that after full INS alignment, cold start and 40nm trip to IP, INS is already 0.5nm off. I usually fly older stuff so not sure if this issue is widespread across the modules or its just M2000C?

  10. It seems there is no difference between taxi/landing lights. There are the same and very dim. Is this bug or that's M2000C trademark feature?
  11. It wasn't clear to me what exactly is "NOT FUNCTIONAL". That is has to be the last waypoint or that it doesn't work at all? And then it works if set in mission editor, although the numbers are swapped. Heading should be left and glide slope right (as per manual) and in the game these are reversed.

  13. Is it possible to perform synthetic runway landing while configuring INS in-flight vs. using mission editor? While in flight I set the runway as way point, enter coordinated, alt, runway heading and glide slope. Then set INS to head to that waypoint, but once I got close and on the glide slope no synthetic runway is showing. When set in mission editor it works just fine. I also noticed that when landing waypoint is set in ME that runway heading and glide slope numbers are reversed in INS. Manual says that heading should be on the left and glide slope on the right but when set in ME glideslope was on the left (3.0) and heading 260 (Kutaisi) was on the right. What's even more puzzling it at Kutaisi ILS is for rwy 70. Any help is greatly appreciated :).
  14. In my experience offset bombing with current ruler is impossible. I did notice some guys on Youtube posting straight hits but those are all air starts with very little flying. I don't think I manged to get closer that 0.5nm after the cold start and 40nm flying to IP, updating INS and then 12nm more to target.

  16. In general in DCS, when tower gives you inbound heading is it true or magnetic? I also noticed that distance is given by tower in nautical miles, yet in map distance is measured in km. Is there a way to set map distance measuring tool in nautical miles as well? Cheers

  18. I start new fast mission. Engine is off, canopy open, throttle off (engine off button pressed). I call ground crew to remove wheel chocks but nothing happens, no answer. It works fine in instant mission when picking "cold start". Any idea?
  19. Thank you guys. I think first fight was terminated due to some sort of timeout so this time a let him hit the deck before timeout kicked in. I managed to snipe second one, so I am finally through F4's and and through F-14's as well :). I am dealing with M2000 now. Thank you Sabre for those hints and tips, very useful stuff.
  20. I am struggling with BFM and 3x F4E's fight. In the first engagement we start at 24k ft. Of course he always finds me first and it's always on my ass, ok no problem. By time I make him overshoot we are down to 15,000ft and when I am just about to snipe him there's TERMINATE, TERMINATE call. Really annoying, happens each time, no idea why. Then I recycle to freaking INDIA and then I wait couple of minutes for second fight (burn my precious fuel in the meantime).Second guys show up again, same story he is on my rear and then this guy usually hits the floor. TERMINATE TERMINATE again score for red team and you got to RTB? What happened to the third F4E, ran out of fuel?! Ok then the give you waypoint Jason, TACAN 94X 95/35 or something like that. Of course this TACAN never works. In order to make to Nellis with almost empty tank I head south once pass the cage. I land ... and then nothing. Next round I am again with these same F4E's. Can someone help me understand what exactly is going on here?

  23. Thank you Reflected, RALT+\ enabled the menu, so I am moving ahead slowly :). Unfortunately orders I give don't work. Let's say Flight -> Engage -> F6 should let my flight engage the primary target but they don't seem to be bothered by that :). I ordered flight to drop ordinance ... no go. I also notice that F7 button will do nothing although couple of the menu options are attached to it.
  24. Hi there, I downloaded "Hunter of the Yalu" campaign for F86F and so far it's all good expect that I have issue communicating to my flight. In the flight brief it says to use F10 to communicate ... well F10 does nothing for me, actually F10 by default is used to display the map. My standard communication menu key is "\ backslash" and it works fine until I take off. After that point it doesn't work anymore. So I have to rely on hotkeys like "LWin + G" let's say for ground attack flight order. But after I give order, nothing happens again. My flight will not attempt to engage nor user their weapons, canons or bombs. Any idea what I am doing wrong here? I appreciate any help. Cheers
